WaPo Obit Headline Describes al Baghdadi as “austere religious scholar”

President Trump announced Sunday morning that the ruthless, evil ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi has been killed during an operation by U.S. Special Forces.

The Washington Post promptly posted its obituary for al-Baghdadi under an accurate headline: “Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, Islamic State’s ‘terrorist-in-Chief,’ dies at 48.” 

Then, for some unknown reason, the obit suddenly had the following jaw-dropping headline:  “Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, austere religious scholar at helm of Islamic State, dies at 48.”

This inexplicable revision elicited immediate pushback.

And WaPo again changed its headline.  It is (currently):  “”Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, extremist leader of Islamic State, dies at 48.”

The “austere religious scholar at helm” of ISIS headline still appears in Memorandum:
