TRUMP: ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi is DEAD

Killed in U.S. Special Forces raid in Syria: “He died like a dog, he died like a coward”

Last night Trump tweeted that “Something Very Big Has Just Happened”.

There was a lot of speculation about what that “Big” thing was. Based on news reports this morning, it was the killing of ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi by U.S. Special Forces in Syria. We will carry Trump’s 9 a.m. press statement live, and then update.

Some quotes from the statement:

“Last night the United States brought the world’s number one terrorist leader to justice. Abu Bakr al-baghdadi is dead,” Trump said. “He was the founder and leader of ISIS. The most ruthless and violent terror organization anywhere in the world. The United States has been searching for Baghdadi for many years. Capturing or killing Baghdadi has been the top national security priority of my administration.”

“US Special operations forces executed a dangerous and daring night time raid. In northwestern Syria and accomplished their mission in grand style, the US personnel were incredible, I got to watch much of it. No personnel were lost in the operation. While a large number of Baghdadi’s fighters and companions were killed with him.”

“He died after running into a dead end tunnel, whimpering and crying and screaming all the way. The compound had been cleared by this time with people either surrendering or being shot and killed. Eleven young children were moved out of the house and are uninjured. The only ones remaining were Baghdadi in the tunnel and he had dragged three of his young children with him. They were led to certain death. He reached the end of the tunnel as our dogs chased him down. He ignited his vest, killing himself and the three children. His body was mutilated by the blast.”

“He died like a dog, he died like a coward.”

al-Baghdadi is now catching up with his old friend John McCain.

Every single Obama administration official crowed about killing Osama.

Leon Panetta in his book Worthy Fights: A Memoir

    Quote:

“We know we got important, even critical intelligence from individuals subjected to these enhanced interrogation techniques” [waterboarding]

Panetta hems and haws about stooping to “their’ level, because that’s how democrats roll.

“It is foolish to maintain that those [enhanced] interrogations did not achieve anything.”

“We should be clear-eyed about the fact that we gave up those practices at a cost – that there is information we might never have received had interrogators not been allowed to inflict pressure, anxiety, and even pain on subjects”

He then returns to the threadbare “sacrificing idealism” tropes.

May I take exception to one thing our president said, about Al Big-daddy dying “like a dog.” This is the wrong expression. Our beautiful 13 year-old dog Layla just took her last breath, and right up to that moment, she was courageous, stoic, faithful, and a wonderful friend. The dogs we had in the past, Zeke and Zoe, were equally loving to the end. Please no one compare Al Big Daddy to any dog. it breaks my heart.

CKYoung in reply to sheldonkatz. | October 27, 2019 at 7:20 pm

Condolences on your dog, I truly am sorry. PDJT used words that will be translated to have a specific impact on baghdadi’s followers. Their culture, society, and mores are much different than ours. PDJT is using specific words to shape their psychological perception/reaction to baghdadi’s death. President Trump has not only read ‘The Art of War,’ he has studied it and used Sun Tzu’s wisdom to help him build a very successful business. Again, I’m sorry about Layla.

Dogs aren’t welcomed very much in the middle east, unlike goats.

Trump is talking too much! We and Islamists don’t need to know what was seized, who assisted us in the raid, how long we were watching the target, how many aborted missions were started, etc.

Barry in reply to MarkS. | October 27, 2019 at 12:57 pm

MarkS, just another speaker for the progs.

Obama released him, Trump eliminated the cruel killer.

And you are here to speak for the commies. Deranged.

Tiki in reply to Barry. | October 27, 2019 at 4:30 pm

Barry, MarkS is paraphrasing leftist talking points.

MarkS in reply to Tiki. | October 27, 2019 at 5:07 pm

No, I’m expressing concern that Trump is telling our enemies details that they can use to understand our methods and possibly lead to our sources! Telling ISIS that we have their prisoners gives ISIS incentive to go look for them and torture those it suspects may know where they are. All Trump, or Obama after Osama, needed to say is that he is dead, now enjoy the football game?

Tiki in reply to MarkS. | October 27, 2019 at 5:19 pm

Eh, that’s what I get for sticking up for a stranger.

Telling ISIS that we have their prisoners gives ISIS incentive to go look for them and torture those it suspects may know where they are.

Huh? W. Bush and Obama told ISIS and anyone else who bothered to listen (except you) that we had their prisoners. Where the hell have you been the past couple decades?

          Rhetorical question.

Barry in reply to MarkS. | October 27, 2019 at 11:13 pm

Tiki, it’s OK. Sometimes any of us can miss a bit of snark.

OTOH, MarkS is a prog neverTrumper, so I knew he was dead serious. If Trump cured cancer he’d complain it unfair to murder cancer cells.

CKYoung in reply to MarkS. | October 27, 2019 at 7:26 pm

President Trump is delivering some messages to deep state actors. They don’t know what intel was seized from baghdadi. The deep state might be completely compromised in baghdadi’s hard drives, sim cards etc. This will produce chatter and other intel which will further compromise them. After almost three years (not to mention a lifetime of winning prior to 2016), it should be readily apparent that PDJT knows what he’s doing.

“What?!? How could this happen? Didn’t Trump in his incompetence just surrender to ISIS and let them get all there power back, undoing all the good work of Obama, by taking those 50 advisors out of Syria?” —What nevertrumpers and members of the media are probably thinking right now, since they are still as clueless about how to fight terrorism as they have ever been.

So, to sum it up, Special Forces did a raid, and Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi had a blast.

To ensure proper keeping with Islamic traditions; al-Baghdadi remains (carcass?) should be given to the family of the Jordanian pilot burned alive by ISIS.

I see a scandal brewing here. Trump informed Russia before he told Nasty Nancy, Crying Chuck and Shifty Shift. Apparently, he felt Russia, Turkey and the Kurds are better keepers of classified information.

He didn’t inform Russia WHY they needed the air space cleared.

stevewhitemd in reply to Liberty Bell. | October 27, 2019 at 11:37 am

On a more serious note, I do not see any constitutional requirement for the President to inform the Congress of a military raid prior to the operation. The president is bound (to the extent that its constitutional) by the War Powers Act, but there is nothing in the WPA about prior notification.

The complainers in Congress, of course, could use the same WPA and inform the president that the current operations in Syria are not covered by the 2003 Authorization of the Use of Military Force (AUMF) that authorized the Iraq War, and that he needs a new one. Oh what fun that would be. Trump, I think, could twist their tails either way.

mailman in reply to stevewhitemd. | October 27, 2019 at 2:17 pm

Jesus, can you see this congress keeping anything secret?? Id be prepared to trust the russians BEFORE trusting a Democrat controlled congress.

I can’t find it in the Constitution either, where the Commander-In-Chief answers to the Speaker of the House.

If someone can find it, please link it. I’ll buy you a cup of coffee and a bagel.

Odd. Isn’t this like the 4th time al-baghdadi has been killed?

Or do all these weird beard islamists look alike to me?

From the Twitter reactions:

“When we killed Bin Laden we ran to the White House and celebrated in the streets—conservatives, liberals, everyone—without any sniping about the fact that it was Obama in the sit room.”

This, of course, is a lie. I distinctly remember Jugears and his minions using the Obama raid as an excuse to dunk on GWB.

alaskabob in reply to Paul. | October 27, 2019 at 10:57 am

Implicit in Obama’s time with OBL’s was the “I”….Obama was the victor, the one to be center stage….when Trump speaks now it’s “We”. What Obama (and McCain) ignited is being killed off after terrible costs.

mailman in reply to alaskabob. | October 27, 2019 at 2:16 pm

The Baby Jesus Man Child was all about “I”. Every speech Obama ever gave revolved around him and its telling that there was never a we or an us but a me.

“Died like a dog”? Pretty expensive way to kill a dog. No wonder the national debt is so huge.

Fluffy Foo Foo in reply to tom_swift. | October 27, 2019 at 10:40 am

@ tom_swift You want have the defense capabilities of Canada, do you?

Died like a dog is great persuasion. Don’t join ISIS and die like a dog.

tom_swift in reply to Fluffy Foo Foo. | October 27, 2019 at 10:57 am

Nobody said to not kill a dog. Just do it more economically. During WW1, George Patton said much the same thing after seeing a single dead rat next to a large shell crater.

Incidentally, in his WW1 history Real War, Capt. B.H. Liddell Hart referred to the Canadians as “matchless assault troops.” Of course, things may have changed; never having fought off any Canadians I personally can’t say.

        mrzee in reply to tom_swift. | October 27, 2019 at 4:02 pm

The Canadian military is poorly equipped thanks to decades of government neglect starting with Justin’s father, but that’s not a refection of the soldiers. If you know anyone who served in Afghanistan, ask them their opinion of the Canadian soldiers.

CKYoung in reply to mrzee. | October 27, 2019 at 7:43 pm

I loved their concrete hockey rink on Kandahar Air Base and watching the Canadians play. I have the utmost respect for all the Canadian military members I met.

        People are testy today.

alaskabob in reply to Fluffy Foo Foo. | October 27, 2019 at 11:03 am

Dogs and pigs are loathsome creatures to devote Muslims. Dying like a dog is a BIG slam….just like Bush-I intentional mis-pronouncing Sadam’s name. “The pig died like a dog” would be even better.

As for ISIS, may Allah run out of virgins.

What do you suggest they should have done?

    notamemberofanyorganizedpolicital in reply to tom_swift. | October 27, 2019 at 2:04 pm

He died like a dog but he lived like a Democrat.

That’s why it was so expensive.

Close The Fed in reply to tom_swift. | October 27, 2019 at 3:20 pm

A MILLION things give us a budget deficit. Not defense spending.

I recently spoke to a government contractor about something he built for an agency. Civilian agency.

They spent $200,000 to have a display built. A display.

After 7 months, they got rid of it.

They got rid of something the cost of which was greater than my home, after SEVEN months.

The government leaks money like a colander. It ain’t helicopter rides and bullets that is breaking us.

The Air Force spent (I believe, if memory serves me correctly) $2 million dollars renovating and hardening the main gate of Mather Air Force Base in Sacramento. A short time later (1993) the base closed and the front gate infrastructure was torn out.

Morning Sunshine | October 27, 2019 at 10:49 am

call me crazy, but I see this:

Trump’s advisors tell him there is no way we can get al-BlownUp while we are in Syria. Trump tells everyone we are pulling out, takes a lot of flack from the people at home – with the added bonus of making anti-Trumpers switch positions like a hot potato changes hands. al-BlownUp gets a little bit cocky, and then we go in and take him out.

As for Trump’s little victory dance – look at the words he used: coward, dog, whimpering, crying, screaming. Those are words that are designed to make the rest of ISIS – and their leaders – rethink their desire to fight and die for the caliphate.

also, with the Kurds abandoning the POW camps full of ISIS prisoners, those rabid crazies are no longer protected by POW international treaties? Now we can just bomb and kill them. No country has to take them back now cuz there is nothing to take back 🙂 win-win

While I appreciate the cultural reference, I am going to have to have one of my rare disagreements with our Presidents. Dogs die well, often protecting children.

A big thank you to our Commander-in-Chief and US Special Forces, who made this all possible.

He didn’t protect children, he murdered them.

Which is why the ISIS leader shouldn’t be likened to a dog, per my point.

stevewhitemd in reply to Leslie Eastman. | October 27, 2019 at 11:32 am

How ’bout a mangy, rabid dog with fleas? 🙂

I too love dogs, but to the Islamic culture to be compared to a dog is a great insult. In international relations sometimes words aren’t meant for us. Trump is trying to desecrate the idolization of al-Baghdadi.

I wouldn’t say it’s an unfortunate use of terms by DJT – like so much of modern language we’ve lost the cultural / historical meaning and often speak in a kind of short-hand. Saying ‘died like a dog’ may refer to a ‘cur dog’, about which Wiki writes: “In dog fighting parlance, a ‘cur’ is a dog which quits or loses a fight.” The inference is a cowardly dog I suspect since he also used that term.

“He died like a dog, he died like a coward.”

When he mentioned that, both my husband and I looked at each other and laughed. We love dogs but we’ve also both lived in the Middle East and understand what that particular phrase represents to radical Muslims. Being chased down by dogs is even better.

Very much respect your opinion. PDJT used that language to influence baghdadi’s followers. ‘Art of War’ strategy. Get them to make mistakes through anger/impulsiveness. Their culture is very, very different, and he was speaking to them in this regard, not us. I love dogs too!

drednicolson in reply to CKYoung. | October 27, 2019 at 8:42 pm

Wanted to emphasize that their “great leader” did not die heroically or even manfully. In terms that no Middle Eastern Muslim would misunderstand.

We can now agree that Obama successfully eliminated Osama bin Laden. We can all agree that Trump successfully eliminated Abu al-Baghdadi. There is a difference though. Trump’s handlers didn’t have to drag him off the golf course to watch the mission unfold in the SitRep Room.

What. Too early?

alaskabob in reply to Redneck Law. | October 27, 2019 at 11:17 am

The Obama crowd said Bush was a failure for not getting OBL. Well in that case FOR was a failure in WW2, Kennedy was a failure in the space race and Jimmy Carter was ….ok…was a failure no matter what.

I thought about the contrast, too. Obama in open shirt and casual jacket slouched in a chair with hordes of slovenly people all around the room.

Compare that shambles to the picture in the above post of a professional, serious-minded (and properly dressed) group of grown-ups.

And no American ambassadors were murdered either. I wonder if Hillary noticed that?

Incidentally, in his WW1 history Real War, Capt. B.H. Liddell Hart referred to the Canadians as “matchless assault troops.” Of course, things may have changed; never having fought off any Canadians I personally can’t say.

my father fought in the skies over europe–though impressed by the bravery of the brits in the raf, he often said it was the canadians whose courage was humbling to everyone–all volunteers at that point, nevertheless they carried the battle to the germans fiercely and with gusto–canadian casualties in the air war over europe exceeded thirty thousand–quite a toll for a small country

congratulations to president trump and our special forces–not a single american life expended in the effort–excellent

concur with potus’ description–he definitely died a coward’s death–imagine dragging innocent children along with you(presumably your own flesh and blood)and killing them as a consequence of your own twisted hatred

good riddance

Well done, Mr. President.

Trump was seen talking to the ISIS leader just before the ISIS murderer was cornered in the tunnel. Trump told him “who’s your BagDaddy now!!!”

Somebody tell Nancy that she and the other democrat scum weren’t told in advance but the Russians were, because the Russians can be trusted more than the scum with a (D) by their names.

Too bad three of them weren’t in the blast radius of Abu’s DIY chestburster, instead of the hapless kids who were.

On a more serious note, I can’t wait to see the movie of this raid!! 🙂

Trump did not tell the progs because there is no doubt, none at all, that they would have leaked it.

So, the US acquires intel of the exact whereabouts of Al-Baghdadi, in western Syria, of all places. We put together an operation to capture or kill him. Planning such a mission does not occur over-night. And, in this case, it also required several other nations to allow it, in order for it to go smoothly. How to gain the cooperation of these other countries?

Well, a little less than two weeks ago, the CINC withdrew a small number of US troops from Northeastern Syria, returning control of the area to Syria and their Russian allies. He reaches an arrangement with Turkey for a nine mile Kurd buffer zone in that area, with a strict warning NOT to go beyond that area. There is likely a further message to Syria that US troops are leaving its territory to the Syrian government. And, there was possibly an agreement with Russia to allow it to play peacemaker between Turkey, Syria and the Kurds. Suddenly, two weeks later, US and allied forces stage a raid on Al-Baghdadi which requires the Syrians, Russians and probably the Turks, to turn a blind eye to the operation if not assist in it, to some extent. Do things begin to make more sense now?

This is wartime diplomacy. If FDR, Kennedy, or even Soetoro had done this they would be heralded and brilliant strategists. But, Trump? He gets labelled a traitor as everyone second guesses him. Don’t hold your breath waiting for the media praise to begin.

I love it when a plan comes together.

Pelosi will see to it bagdaddy will lie in state in the capital, next to cummings (who himself, is still seriously dead.)

Compare the photo of Trump in the situation room with that of obama when bin laden was liquidated.

barry looks like he was in another room on the toilet, and got photoshopped in:

https://www.businessinsider.com/trump-situation-room-photo-baghdadi-analysis-obama-bin-laden-comparison-2019-10

Hilllary clinton is in the photo too, probably trying to figure out how to extort money from the events.

Huh…and here I thought Trump pulled all the troops out of Syria.

“He died like a dog, he died like a coward”

He died like someone who knew how he treated prisoners and figured we were no better than he was.

Not informing Nancy and Congress? As if Nancy didn’t need another reason to cancel the State of the Union speech again next year.

Given that the Dems have been unequivocal in stating that they WANT a recession (so that DJT doesn’t get re-elected), there’s zero doubt in my mind that they would have leaked details of the mission had Trump clued them in so that it would have failed … and failed big time.

‘Nuff said.
