California Democratic Rep. Katie Hill Hill has decided to resign due to the allegations of “inappropriate sexual relationships.”

Hill has seen photos of herself surface this past week of her completely naked, holding a bong, and kissing a female staffer. Another story alleged she had an affair with a male staffer.

From Politico:

“It is with a broken heart that today I announce my resignation from Congress. This is the hardest thing I have ever had to do, but I believe it is the best thing for my constituents, my community and our country,” Hill wrote in a letter announcing the news after it was first reported by POLITICO.

“This is what needs to happen so that the good people who supported me will no longer be subjected to the pain inflicted by my abusive husband and the brutality of hateful political operatives who seem to happily provide a platform to a monster who is driving a smear campaign built around cyber exploitation,” Hill added.

Hill did not specify a resignation date in her letter but multiple people with knowledge of her plans said she could step aside as soon as Nov. 1.

RedState published screenshots of text messages between Hill and an unnamed staffer about ending their “throuple” relationship, which included Hill’s husband Kenny Heslep.

The New York Post reported Morgan Desjardins, 24, is the unnamed staffer. Hill said earlier she became involved with Dejardins during the last few years “of her abusive marriage to Heslep.”

However, other reports said Heslep did not mind Hill’s involvement with “Desjardins because he was a willing participant.”

Hill admitted to the relationship with Desjardins and apologized for it.

Heslep filed for divorce, allegedly due to an affair between Hill and her legislative director Graham Kelly. Hill denied this affair. From Fox News:

RedState also reported that Hill had an extramarital affair with Graham Kelly, her legislative director and former campaign-finance director, for at least a year. Heslep was said to have shared his own screenshot of a text exchange he had with a friend who had heard about the affair, which he later deleted from his Facebook account. According to RedState, the alleged affair was why Heslep filed for divorce.

Hill acknowledged to Fox News that she’s going through a divorce and claimed her “abusive husband” has been “determined to try to humiliate me.”

“Intimate photos of me and another individual were published by Republican operatives on the internet without my consent,” Hill said in a statement to Fox News. “I have notified Capitol Hill police who are investigating the situation and potential legal violations of those who posted and distributed the photos, and therefore will have no further comment on the digital materials.”

She continued, “I am disgusted that my opponents would seek to exploit such a private matter for political gain. This coordinated effort to try to destroy me and people close to me is despicable and will not succeed. I, like many women who have faced attacks like this before, am stronger than those who want me to be afraid.”

Hill faced an investigation by the House Ethics Committee over this allegation.

I *almost* feel bad for her. The abusive husband factor is plausible, especially given that he was the one to leak these photos, generally considered a D**k Move when done to mundane partners.

That said, she did what she did, and saying “My husband made me” is the worst thing a Strong-Independent-Female(TM) Representative should ever be saying.

It doesn’t help that several texts from her subordinate sex play thing made her out to be somewhat of a sexual predator. You can see why she fitted in so well with the Democrats can’t you.

She is trying to paint herself as the victim. And based on her resignation letter there is more dirt out there. She resigned before it became public.

Once the “dancing naked with the bong” picture went viral, it was all over for her.

and the mind just boggles at the thought that there was worse still to come. And to think Nanzi Pelosi was grooming her for a leadership slot…

Gah. In this context, the words “Pelosi” and “grooming” shouldn’t be anywhere near eachother. 😛

        Where’s my bleach?

I’d be willing to believe that her husband was the dominant member in the dynamic given the leaked picked that I saw on the Guardian. In both, she is naked and others in the picture are not. Having her be exposed while others are not would definitely signal she was the submissive. That she was predatory in acquiring the partner for the ‘throple’ does not mean she was the dominant partner in the relationship. That dominance could easily have become abusive given that she supported her husband and he may have felt she was regaining too much control of her life.

I have no idea what all the intimate details of their screwed up relationship are/were, but I have a hard time believing she was forced into anything.

I’ve read speculation that her husband was fine with the Throuple thing (from the pictures, that’s clearly true) but then when their relationship started to go bad she claimed that it was because he was anti-gay and hated lesbian relationships. And since that is the Worst Possible Thought Crime to any good leftist, he went ballistic when she said that about him, and went nuclear on her with all the pictures he’d been taking.

Do we know it was the husband who leaked the photos? It could have been the staffer girlfriend.

I might be willing to counsel her.

I feel badly that the photos that SHE and her husband posted on a wife sharing website have now been published in places where people other than those looking to share wives can see them, but this isn’t revenge porn, this is Redstate moving her naked pictures from one part of the internet to another.

How does this keep happening to Democrats?

Can you imagine the headlines if this had happened to a Republican? It would be front page news on Bezos Pravda and Carlos Slim Pravda. She definitely earned this resignation that old fashion way by richly deserving it. What a legacy she leaves behind!

The LA Times via the San Diego Union-Tribune places it as “Hill Resigning from Congress amid Allegations.” You have to read through her accusations against “political operatives” and a write-up about Red State, before you encounter the word “sexual” to define the “relationships.” It takes them twenty column inches of euphemisms to get to “sexual relationship.”

This is a “me-to story,” and the LA Times sides with the predator.

The word is that she resigned to keep even worse photos from coming out. I am really disappointed!

I hope she gets good, long-term mental health counseling. She has struggled with depression over the years and is now in a situation where she lost her husband, her mistress, her other lover, her job and her reputation. She is enduring public ridicule with no real prospects of a new job any time soon.

While I do not support her politics, I hope that she finds some way to survive this disaster.

She could hook up with Stormy Daniels for a porno chick flick. Probably be more profitable than a freshman congress-creature, and a step up in respectability.

Sounds like the average AA newcomer.

Valerie in reply to TZak. | October 28, 2019 at 11:18 am

The well-supported allegations are that this is a member of the US House of Representatives, who has abused her position of power to obtain sexual favors.

Why are you giving her a pass?

TZak in reply to Valerie. | October 28, 2019 at 1:15 pm

Not giving her a pass at all. She has resigned and rightfully so. I have no desire to see anyone with her politics in office.

I was just discussing her as a person and how I see this as a possible prelude to suicide – unless she has a strong and lasting intervention.

Connivin Caniff | October 28, 2019 at 10:30 am

She seems to have problems with Congress of all kinds.

It’s a world of virtue signalling.

Actual virtue looks nothing like any of it.

She blames everyone but herself for her behavior. So the perfect Dem.

Bill Clinton was overheard saying “I’d tap that!”.

I don’t buy that it was the sex thing that ended her, any swamp dweller worth their salt can weather that news. There is much worse stuff out that was about to drop.

This is an easy one for Dems to sacrifice because there’s no political risk whatsoever.

Contrast with Al Franken and others.

She continued, “I am disgusted that my opponents would seek to exploit such a private matter for political gain. This coordinated effort to try to destroy me and people close to me is despicable and will not succeed. I, like many women who have faced attacks like this before, am stronger than those who want me to be afraid.”

Your opponent in this case is your estranged husband filing for divorce.

So, Hill was a #HerToo, not #MeToo, Clinton, too, as superior exploitation ebbs and wanes as a social justice and politically congruent cause.

Is she the first woman to resign from congress over sexual misconduct allegations? The Democrats have tried to establish themselves as the Party of Women, and they want to be “first” at so many things.

Morning Sunshine | October 28, 2019 at 12:14 pm

“I, like many women who have faced attacks like this before, am stronger than those who want me to be afraid.””

I too am a strong woman.
the difference is that I know my own worth. And my worth is more than my body and how I use it to orgasm. I know that my worth is intrinsic and is NOT dependent on how another person makes me feel. And my worth is enough that I expect other people to see my value.

She created these attacks on herself by putting herself in these situations. I know my value, and just as I would not put a large gold-and-diamond ring on the ground in a big city, I will not place myself in such a position.

I kind of feel bad for women like this. They have a false sense of their worth, of their self. They have been taught that to be sexual is the whole and the end of their value. Even in the United States Congress – as one of the most powerful women in the history of the world! – she still plays like a child with childish toys, and cannot conceive of herself as being more.

God help this country.

Who among us has not from time to time munched a carpet?

Hell yes, I’d HIT it! But, they can keep their bong to themselves.

I just dropped by because I heard there were photos of Shiela Jackson Lee too….any update on that? Thanks, I will be waiting patiently.

Hill has seen photos of herself surface this past week of her completely naked, holding a bong, and kissing a female staffer.

At risk of sounding like some suckass liberal, I have to say this doesn’t bother me. It’s firmly in “everybody should have a hobby, just don’t tell me about it” territory.

She really should have better photo security, though, as should we all.

The word salad “it’s everybody else’s fault” stuff seems incomplete. Shouldn’t she have something in there pinning it on Orange Man Bad? All I see is something rather generic about “Republican operatives”; she’s just not trying very hard.

Morning Sunshine in reply to tom_swift. | October 28, 2019 at 1:16 pm

I kind of agree…. What she does in her own time…. meh. I worry for her (see above) but whatever.

The big illegal problem is that she was breaking House rules to do it – with subordinates (misuse of power) and paying them bonuses from her House funds (misuse of public money). And if she is likely to do that here with this little bit of power, what would she do if she had more, as a senator, as a governor, as a Sec. of State (anyone believe Huma was with Hillary just for her charming personality?)

Also, the photo security…. blackmail while she is in a higher position of power from a foreign entity? A little quid pro quo action going on. And when you are drunk or high, you are not known for being aware of “photo security.”

All in all, I think she should not be in a position of power. But hey, if she is a private citizen, I don’t really have a say or a care what she does.

    Two rules:

    1. Not with employees or bosses.

    2. No cameras allowed.

I was kind of hoping she was one of the Orange Co. ballot harvest Democrats. Looks to be from north L.A. though.

At my first financial firm, my boss had a torrid affair with his secretary, a lovely, horse-faced, thoroughly incompetent blonde. Then he announced her promotion in an interoffice memo that praised her for (really) “working long and hard under me at night and on weekends.”

Naturally, she had to leave the firm, presumably with a nice fat check in hand. Why? I cite the financial sector’s Iron Law: “He’s a psycho, but he has good numbers.”

Now she’ll have more time to pursue her hobby.

I don’t know why she’d resign. She seems to represent LA perfectly.

One of the reasons they don’t let Congress members have relationships with their staff is that others not in the relationship DON’T “belong”.

It’s ethics, dear.
