It has been nine months almost to the day since Georgia Democrat Stacey Abrams ended her run for governor. On the night she acknowledged to Brian Kemp “will be certified as the victor,” she is still refusing to concede that election.
To understand how Abrams has conducted herself in the aftermath of her defeat, let’s first take a look at what she said that November 16 evening when she decided to bow out:
“I acknowledge that former Secretary of State Brian Kemp will be certified as the victor in the 2018 gubernatorial election, but to watch an elected official who claims to represent the people in this state baldly pin his hopes for election on the suppression of the people’s democratic right to vote has been truly appalling,” Abrams said.“So, let’s be clear. This is not a speech of concession. Because concession means to acknowledge an action is right, true or proper. As a woman of conscience and faith, I cannot concede that. Since that time, Abrams has turned “sore loser” into almost an art form. She’s made countless TV appearances where she interviewers treat her like a queen. Other outlets have published fawning puff pieces in major newspapers like the New York Times. We have seen nearly every 2020 Democratic presidential hopeful bend over backward to kiss the Abrams ring.
Abrams appeared on “CBS This Morning” on Monday. The anchors gave her the same type of softball questioning and adoring coverage she’s received since she first refused to concede.
During the interview, Abrams talked about her announcement last week that she was open to being the vice presidential nominee for any of the Democrats currently running for president. But she told interviewer Gayle King that her main focus was “voter suppression:”
For now, Abrams said she will focus on expanding the work of her voting rights initiative, Fair Fight 2020. The Democrat, who narrowly lost her race for Georgia governor last November, said she is working to make sure that every eligible ballot in 2020 is counted, slamming some states’ recent voting laws as “insidious.””Voter suppression is the base line that determines whether your voice is heard, whether the values and the policies that you want ever come to fruition,” said Abrams. She said people need to realize voter suppression laws from the 1960s that forbade voting for African-Americans have evolved.
She made these claims the same way she has since she started making them months ago: Without evidence. Not that we’d expect King and CBS to do any, you know, actual journalism or anything by pressing her on the issue.
King also asked Abrams about a Sunday tweet from GOP Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel in which McDaniel questioned Abrams’s stated commitment to electoral integrity:
“Why haven’t you conceded?” King asked gently. Here’s how Abrams responded:
“Concession means to say that the process was fair, but when I run an organization that in 10 days between election night and the night I refuse to concede we receive more than 50,000 phone calls for people who were denied the right to vote I am complicit if I say that that system is fair,” Abrams said.She noted that she is not denying the “legal sufficiency of the election.”“I am not claiming to be the governor of Georgia, despite what Breitbart and others like to say,” Abrams added. “What I have said is that we won the battle of making sure more voices are heard because we had the highest record turnout in Georgia history for Democrats.”

Abrams continuously makes these false claims of “voter suppression” in the Georgia governor’s race. It helps that not a single mainstream media outlet will call her out on it. The “official” fact-checkers have shown reluctance to examine her claims critically. Politifact came close to it earlier this year in responding to Sen. Kamala Harris’s claims of Georgia and Florida voter suppression.
But as they did last week on her false Michael Brown “murder” claim, they refused to give Harris’s claim about voter suppression a rating.
Democrats like failed 2016 presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, and others have participated in delusional coddling of Abrams and her erroneous statements. They suggest in so many words that Abrams is genuinely the rightful governor of Georgia.
Abrams has been fact-checked several times by conservatives on her repeated claims about the election being “stolen.” If you read them, you’ll see that really nothing she has said about the Georgia election and Brian Kemp is correct.
But the liberal media and Democrats who do not understand that sometimes voters prefer the Republican candidate over the Democrat have continuously allowed Abrams to lie about the election for several reasons:
1) They think it will motivate Democratic voters to show up in even higher numbers the next time around to ensure electoral victory.
2) It keeps alleged “racism” front and center, which is key to Democratic success at the ballot box.
3) In their eyes, it delegitimizes the Republican winner and their agenda.
But what happens when a Republican says they’re unsure if they’ll accept election results? The left roundly condemns them. By Democrats like Stacey Abrams and Hillary Clinton:
