Trump Intensifies War With the Squad: ‘Very Racist Group of Troublemakers’

President Donald Trump intensified the war between him and the “Squad” this afternoon in a tweet calling the four Democratic congresswomen inexperienced troublemakers ruining “the once great Democrat Party.”

The news cycle latched onto comments from Trump last week when he told the Squad – Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (NY), Ilhan Omar (MN), Ayanna Pressley (MA), and Rashida Tlaib (MI) – “to go back and help fix the totally broken and crime infested places from which they came.”

Out of the four women, only Omar was not born in the United States.

At the time the Democratic Party had turmoil within itself, but Trump’s tweets managed to bring them together. Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi had to drop her grudges with the Squad to defend them against Trump.

Pelosi reprimanded Trump last Tuesday, “which prompted the president to ramp up the attacks even more.” On Sunday he tweeted that he doesn’t believe “the four Congresswomen are capable of loving our Country.”

Trump continued his rampage Monday morning against The Washington Post over a story about advisors handing “him reams of opposition research on the four Congresswomen.” Trump took credit for his talking points and never received “reams of paper” from anyone. He concluded that none of this changes the fact that Congress has “4Radical Left Congresswomen who have said very bad things about Israel & our Country!”

He repeated these thoughts to news reporters:

“The women have said horrible things about our country and the people of our country,” Trump told reporters in a clip reported by The Hill. “Nobody should be able to do that — and if they want to do that, that’s up to them, but I can’t imagine that they’re going to do very well at the polls. And I say this: If the Democrats want to embrace people that hate our country, people that are so far left that no one’s ever seen anything like it, if they want to embrace people that are so anti-Semitic and anti-Israel — if they want to do that, that’s up to them, but I don’t have to do that. I think what they say and what they’ve said is a disgrace to them, to the Democrats, and, frankly, to our country.”And he wasn’t done. “The things they’ve said about our country are terrible,” he told reporters in another clip. “What they’ve said about Israel are just terrible. I don’t know, I can’t say for sure, but certainly a lot of people say they hate our country.”

Then a few hours later on the way to pay respects to the late Justice Stevens, Trump tweeted:

The four women have remained mostly silent during this spat. However, Tlaib used her slotted time at the NAACP convention to slam Trump:

U.S. Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Detroit, who has been the target of racist tweets from Trump, got a standing ovation from the crowd and said, “I’m not going nowhere, not until I impeach this president.”She also said that “The Squad” is not just the four progressive congresswomen — Tlaib, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York, Ayanna Pressley of Massachusetts and Ilhan Omar of Minnesota — who have created a stir at the U.S. Capitol.”It’s beyond just the four of us. You are all the squad, trust me,” she said.
