No, the Trump Administration Did Not Delay the Harriet Tubman $20 Bill Redesign
Obama officials said the plan was always to release the new bill in 2030.
The mainstream media continues stretching the truth to blame every little thing on Trump and ignoring any missteps made by their messiah President Barack Obama.
The left and mainstream media ran with the narrative that Trump’s administration delayed putting Harriet Tubman on the $20 bill. The truth remained buried, which has led Obama officials to remind people that his administration caused the redesign delay.
Three officials from Obama’s administration, including one who from President George Bush’s administration who stayed on with Obama, told The Washington Post that they delayed the redesign (emphasis mine):
In 2016, President’s Obama Treasury Secretary Jack Lew said a “final concept design” of the Tubman $20 would be released in 2020. He asked the government to accelerate the process of the redesign, saying the new look would be released by 2020, the 100th anniversary of women winning the right to vote.
But inside the agency, some government officials doubted that deadline could be met. A confidential 2013 report by the Advanced Counterfeit Deterrence committee, an interagency group that oversees the redesign of U.S. currency, said the $20 would not enter circulation until 2030, similar to the timeline announced by the Trump administration, according to Larry R. Felix, director of the Bureau of Engraving and Printing from 2006 to 2015.
Of course, the WaPo could not help but take shots at the Trump administration. The article states that Secretary of Treasury Steven “Mnuchin has not shown the enthusiasm for putting Tubman on the $20 that his predecessor did — and Trump has previously dismissed the effort.”
So freaking what? I would love to have Tubman on the $20 bill. Not only is she an American hero, but anyone who knows Andrew Jackson’s opinions on the central bank knows the irony of him being on US currency.
For crying out loud, back in January, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (NY) even launched a probe into the delay of the Tubman design.

Trump is a genius. He has Democrats pushing to replace the founder of the modern Democrat party on the $20 bill, with a black gun-toting Republican woman that led an actual raid during the Civil War.
This is somehow supposed to make Republicans upset? History always started yesterday for SJWs and journalists (BIRM).
Started yesterday and ended as soon as they said anything about it. By the time you can tell them they’re wrong, it’s changed.
Just for sport, were there to be an actual delay I’d blame it on Anthropogenic Global Warming (assuming the world hasn’t ended by then).

Call me a traditionalist, but I just don’t have any enthusiasm for redesigning and overhauling the look of our paper currency that drastically. Come to think of it, I didn’t see much need for the modifications done just a few years ago. The last couple of times the gov’t came out with dollar coins, it was met with about as much acceptance as the $2 bill. I wonder if young people today even know that a $2 bill actually exists, or if they have ever seen the Eisenhower silver dollar coin.
The Treasury should kill two birds with one stone. Put Bruce Jenner on a three dollar bill.

I’m shocked that the Washington Post told the truth. Someone in the Democrat party must have pissed them off and this is their revenge. LOL
But yet again we see Democrats use their media allies to spread fake news (NYT Article) which will give Trump more political capital with which to beat the Democrats over the head with in the campaign.
It really seems like the left wants to lose 2020.
Yes, Tubman was a hero. But she was no Alexander Hamilton, was she.
Put her on a stamp.
She successfully ran the underground railroad. Given California’s high speed train fiasco, CA sure could have used her now.
Insane to put her on the $20. Her contribution to our history was trivial in the extreme not only compared to Hamilton’s but compared to hundreds of others.
Pure racism is the only reason why she was selected.
