Disgraced Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein, whose allegedly criminal lecherous behavior helped launch the #MeToo movement, has reached a tentative settlement deal for $44 million dollars with several female accusers.
Actresses Ashley Judd and Rose McGowan, both of whom claim to be victims of Weinstein, say they’re not part of the settlement and will proceed to trial.
The Wrap reports, via Yahoo News:
Ashley Judd, Rose McGowan: We Are Not Part of Harvey Weinstein’s $44 Million SettlementAshley Judd and Rose McGowan will not be part of Harvey Weinstein’s $44 million settlement, the actresses announced on Twitter.“My lawsuit against #harveyweinstein is ongoing and I intend to take him to trial,” Judd posted on Friday, with a McGowan responding late into the morning, “I’m not part of this either. Ashley Judd says she’s not part of Harvey Weinstein’s $44 million settlement.”The tweet came one day after it was announced on Thursday that Weinstein, the New York Attorney General’s office, former members of the Weinstein Co. board, and several women who have accused Weinstein of sexual misconduct have tentatively reached a $44 million settlement deal…Judd — who is suing Weinstein for sexual harassment and what the actress says was irreparable damage to her career — and McGowan — who said Weinstein raped her — were among the first women to come out against Weinstein in 2017.

This short video report from CBS This Morning breaks down the settlement:
Even if the settlement goes through, Weinstein still faces criminal charges.
Ephrat Livni writes at Quartzy:
Harvey Weinstein Could Still go to JailThe movie producer Harvey Weinstein may have reached a settlement in a civil suit involving 80 women who accuse him of sexual misconduct, but his legal woes are far from over and he could still end up behind bars…Weinstein is also charged criminally for raping a woman in a New York hotel room in 2013 and forcibly performing oral sex on another woman at his Manhattan apartment in 2006. He faces two counts of predatory sexual assault, one count of criminal sexual act in the first degree, and one count each of first-degree rape and third-degree rape. He pleaded not guilty to all charges and is expected to go to trial in September. Weinstein faces a maximum of 25 years in prison on the first-degree rape charge alone.
Few people will shed a tear if Weinstein ends up in prison.
