“The Mueller report is, at the end of the day, that firecracker that goes up and then it fizzles”
Despite being an anti-Trump leftist, every once in a while, HBO’s Bill Maher says something accurate. During a recent episode of his ‘Real Time’ program, he called out Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) for continuing his pursuit of Trump after the Mueller report found no Russia collusion.
David Rutz reports at the Washington Free Beacon:
Maher to Schiff: It Looks Like You’re ‘Stalking’ Trump Now
HBO talk show host Bill Maher said Friday it looked like Rep. Adam Schiff (D., Calif.) and Democrats were “stalking” Donald Trump following the release of the Robert Mueller report.
Schiff was the face of the Russia investigation in Congress for the past two years, becoming a near-ubiquitous presence on cable news and repeatedly saying there was plain evidence of collusion between Trump and the Russians. Now the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, he told Maher he disagreed with the notion a sitting president couldn’t be indicted, but he said regardless the Mueller report showed Trump was unfit for the presidency.
Maher, who has called Trump a traitor for his conduct, told his guest on Real Time that the American people weren’t into “details” as he wondered if Democrats had missed their shot.
“But this was our big gun,” Maher said. “Now it just looks like you’re stalking him, I think, in the eyes of the people who don’t follow it that closely, which is most of the country.”
The exchange occurs in the first 4 minutes of this video. The look on Schiff’s face when Maher makes the ‘stalking’ comment is priceless:
Maher is correct to suggest that many Americans perceive Schiff and other Democrats in this way. Now that the Russia narrative has flat-lined, they’re moving the goal posts to go after Trump’s finances.
Betsy Woodruff writes at the Daily Beast:
Schiff Hires Ex-Chief of FBI Financial Crimes Section as House Intel Probes Trump’s Finances
Rep. Adam Schiff, the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, has hired Patrick Fallon, former chief of the FBI’s Financial Crimes Section, according to two sources familiar with the move.
It’s a significant hire that will bring expertise to the committee’s efforts to scrutinize President Donald Trump’s financial dealings. A committee source told The Daily Beast that Fallon started this week.
Schiff announced earlier this year that the committee will look at Trump’s finances to see if his personal interests are influencing his decisions as president. “That pertains to any credible allegations of leverage by the Russians or the Saudis or anyone else,” he said, according to CNN.
It’s almost like it was never really about Russia to begin with, but rather about invalidating Trump’s 2016 victory and his presidency at any cost.
Schiff has no shame. In the tweet below, he has the nerve to accuse the Trump administration of advancing a ‘false public narrative’ about the Mueller investigation. Talk about projection.
Now it is confirmed Mueller objected to the “context, nature, and substance” of Barr’s misleading summary of the report.
And the false public narrative it allowed the White House to create.
No one can place any reliance on what Barr says. We need to hear from Mueller himself. https://t.co/ET7tQxnGQG
