POLL: Dramatic and Sudden Cultural Shift As More Americans Identifying as Pro-Life

Democrats should be shaking in their boots because the charge towards life is being led not by right-wingers, but by young Democrats.

Democrats really stepped in it when they forsook “safe, legal, and rare” in exchange for a nationwide push to codify infanticide up to and after birth. Despite the media’s attempts to sweep the issue under the rug, the damage is done.

A new Marist Poll commissioned by none other than The Knights of Columbus found public attitude shifting in favor of life and by a lot. 17 points a lot. For the first time in 10 years, Americans (based on the poll sample, anyway) are just as likely to identify as pro-life as they are pro-choice.

Democrats should be shaking in their boots because the charge towards life is being led not by right-wingers, but by young Democrats. That demographic has moved lifeward by a whopping 14 points.

From The Knights of Columbus:

“Current proposals that promote late-term abortion have reset the landscape and language on abortion in a pronounced – and very measurable – way,” said Barbara Carvalho, director of The Marist Poll.

In a substantial, double-digit shift, according to the poll, Americans are now as likely to identify as pro-life (47 percent) as pro-choice (47 percent). Just last month, a similar survey conducted by The Marist Poll found Americans more likely to identify as pro-choice than as pro-life by 17 percentage points (55 to 38 percent). Democrats moved in their pro-life identity from 20 percent to 34 percent.

Among Democrats, the gap between pro-life and pro-choice identifiers was cut in half from 55 percent to 27 percent. The number of Democrats now identifying as pro-life is 34 percent, up from 20 percent last month, while the number identifying as pro-choice fell from 75 percent to 61 percent. Younger Americans also moved dramatically, now dividing 47 percent pro-life to 48 percent pro-choice. One month ago, the gap was almost 40 percentage points with only 28 percent identifying as pro-life and 65 percent identifying as pro-choice.

“The recent legal changes to late-term abortion and the debate which followed have not gone unnoticed by the general public,” said Carvalho. “In just one month, there has been a significant increase in the proportion of Americans who see themselves as pro-life and an equally notable decline in those who describe themselves as pro-choice.”

This is the first time since 2009 that as many or more Americans have identified as pro-life as have identified as pro-choice. More than a third of Democrats (34 percent) as well as two-thirds of Republicans (67 percent) identify as pro-life. Independents divide (46 percent pro-life, 48 percent pro-choice).

In yet another blow to the politics of death, opposition to late-term abortion is loud, clear, and all but overwhelming. KoC ctd:

At the same time, the survey found that opposition to late-term abortions is overwhelming. By about three to one (71 percent to 25 percent), Americans say abortion should be generally illegal during the third trimester. This majority includes 60 percent of Democrats, 72 percent of independents and 85 percent of Republicans.

By an even wider margin (71 percent to 18 percent), Americans strongly oppose late-term abortion after 20 weeks. This 71 percent includes two-thirds (66 percent) who say abortion should be banned after 20 weeks of pregnancy except to save the life of the mother, and an additional five percent think abortion should be outlawed completely. Only 18 percent think abortion should be allowed at any time up until birth. Those opposing abortion after 20 weeks, or overall, include: 59 percent of Democrats, 78 percent of independents and 82 percent of Republicans.

Simply amazing how a little education and awareness of the realities embodied by the pro-aborts can wake folks up to the evils the lefties want to codify into law.

Americans were okay with the uneasy ceasefire and could tell themselves abortion was just removing a pre-child embryo. But, when the pro-abortion groups got the legislatures to approve killing term children, Americans could not abide it.

And, we know in our gut that the push to abort term children is because term fetuses are worth more when you sell them for parts.

The Left may yet regret Row v. Wade, which precludes a rational restriction. The general European 20 week standard dividing line between abortion and murder is impossible to implement as a result.

Trump and Pence—leadership from the front

It Was never voted on, it was imposed by an idiot court and they can see that Trump is putting decent jurists on the court that will uphold the constitutional right to life so they are trying to preempt that. Many judges are nowhere near having Solomon wisdom.

This poll seems to be just a bunch of muddy water. Too many independent concepts are conflated, and logical conclusions are impossible.

It’s easy for a poll respondent to reject the D’rat adoption of infanticide as government policy. However, that tells us nothing about that same respondent’s opinion of lesser versions of abortion policy. I imagine it’s rather easy to be anti-infanticide but still wildly pro-abortion, so long as it hasn’t obviously crossed the line into blatant infanticide.

I agree with you up to a point. I think that there has been a general shift since the advent of in vitro photography and live streaming video inside the womb.

Planned Parenthood wants the money for the live body parts and the politicians like them because they send campaign donations. They have been exposed for what they really are – merchants of death.

Thank you, Governor Northam.

This push to pass these infanticide laws seems a desperate attempt to keep the money spigots between the selling of body parts and campaign contributions to politicians flowing.

That it will backlash is doesn’t change the fact that Northam was willing to be their Huckleberry in exchange for millions or that PP realizes it needs the income from body parts to keep their clinics operating (and thus their jobs), especially if they lose tax funding.

It reminds me of when leadership at AARP took big money to support Obama Care. It turned off millions of individual supporters and permanently besmirched their reputation – but that was of no consequence to the leaders of AARP getting the big payoffs at that time.

Bernie and the other lefties are always saying we should be more like Europe (towards socialism), but what European country has such barbaric abortion views as our American leftists? Hint: NONE. Got to go to Red China to find comparable views.

A baby step, but significant, toward ending age discrimination, summary judgments, and cruel and unusual punishment, and repealing the Twilight Amendment.
