Art Exhibit Invites Visitors to Throw Crumbs at Images of Ivanka Trump

Artist Jennifer Rubell developed “Ivanka Vacuuming” for an exhibit at the Flashpoint Gallery in DC. The project invites visitors to throw crumbs at the exhibit so “Ivanka” can vacuum the trash.

Can you imagine the outrage if this was Hillary Clinton, Michelle Obama, or Elizabeth Warren?!

I guess anything passes for art because Rubelle’s explanation of this “art” makes anyone with a brain roll their eyes. From The Hill:

The piece from New York-based artist Jennifer Rubell is “simultaneously a visual celebration of a contemporary feminine icon; a portrait of our own relationship to that figure; and a questioning of our complicity in her role-playing,” according to a news release.“The viewer throwing crumbs, and Ivanka vacuuming them, is not a stand-in for one feeling, one relationship or one point of view toward this powerful and sexualized female form,” the release says. “It is intentionally open to multiple, often contradictory interpretations that are as critical of the interpreter as they are of the subject.”Rubell called the interaction with her creation “complicated,” saying in a statement that visitors enjoy hurling the crumbs: “That is the icky truth at the center of the work. It’s funny, it’s pleasurable, it makes us feel powerful, and we want to do it more.””Also, we know she’ll keep vacuuming whether we do it or not, so it’s not really our fault, right?” said Rubell.

Um, what? Do you think we’re that stupid? No, you made this “art” as a way to take a shot at Ivanka and her father.

I adore Rubell’s last sentence because it sums up the culture of today: Nothing is ever really our fault. Responsibility always falls on someone else. The model FORCES us to throw trash at her. It’s no one’s fault for throwing trash at her! If she wasn’t the way she was then no one would feel compelled to do this.

Oh, I don’t know. As much as I hate Hillary Clinton you wouldn’t see me throwing trash at her because I’m a decent human being.

The “art” also appears to slam women who decide to be homemakers. What’s wrong with staying at home, tending to chores and vacuuming? My mom wanted to stay home with my brother and me, but she and my dad both had to work. You know, some of us women CHOOSE to stay at home.

Ivanka is a businesswoman. Did it help that she’s a Trump? Yes, but she built her own business, which provides jobs for others.

Also, why is the model so sexualized? I thought the left hated sexualizing women? Then again, these women march around with pussy hats and dressed as vaginas.

This is how Ivanka responded:

You want to be hip and cool? In order to be “edgy,” you’d make art that criticizes leftists. Or better yet, be like South Park and joke about everyone.
