Progressive Sole: Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s Shoes to be Displayed in Exhibit at Cornell

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is enjoying the sort of hero worship by Democrats and the media not seen since Obama. She can do no wrong in their eyes, and every aspect of her must be celebrated. Even the shoes she campaigned in are now going to get special treatment.

Amina Kilpatrick reports at the Cornell Daily Sun:

Cornell Exhibit to Feature Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s Shoes, Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s CollarsWorn and scuffed with cracks and holes in them, the shoes that Rep.-elect Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) wore campaigning will be shown at Cornell in an exhibit beginning Dec. 6.The exhibit, entitled “Women Empowered: Fashions From the Frontline” will feature clothing items that represent women’s empowerment. The exhibit is part of the biennial celebration that the Cornell Council for the Arts has held throughout the fall semester. After winning the primary election in June 2018, Ocasio-Cortez explained on her Twitter the significance of the shoes to her. In her viral tweet, she used the shoes as an example of the hard work she put into campaigning.“Here’s my 1st pair of campaign shoes,” Ocasio-Cortez said. “I knocked doors until rainwater came through my soles. Respect the hustle. We won bc we out-worked the competition. Period.”Curator of the exhibit, Prof. Denise Green, fiber science and apparel design, said Ocasio-Cortez’s shoes were a good representation of the 2018 Biennial theme, “Duration: Passage, Persistence, Survival,” and are unique to the exhibit since worn clothing items are not often displayed.

See Cortez’s tweet below:

The Hill notes that the shoes are becoming “part of history.”

FOX News had the audacity to discuss this subject recently without showing the proper level of respect, so now they’re the negative aspect of this story. Cortez, who went so far as to tweet an image of the shoes with the line “respect the hustle” is angry that people noticed.

Keith McMillan writes at the Washington Post:

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez trolls Fox News in SpanishA Friday night show on Fox News used its closing segment to praise and poke fun at Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, but on Twitter, the congresswoman-elect laughed last.Ed Henry hosted “The Story” on Friday night, when he and three panelists discussed how a pair of Ocasio-Cortez’s shoes are set to go on display at Cornell University, in its “Women Empowered: Fashions from the Frontline” exhibit. A Twitter user pointed out to the Democrat from New York that a four-person discussion about her shoes was taking place on prime-time television.“No, no es amor/ Lo que tú sientes, se llama obsesión,” Ocasio-Cortez tweeted. The lyrics to Obsesión, by Aventura, translate to, “No, it’s not love, what you feel is called obsession.”After another user asked whether she was really going to make Fox hire a translator to read the tweet, Ocasio-Cortez took her shot:”Don’t worry, Fox News has made it clear that they are far superior to + more intelligent than me, who they’ve called a ‘little, simple person,’” she wrote. “So I’m sure catching up to me in spoken languages shouldn’t be a problem for them.”

And just think. This is only the beginning.
