Nikki Haley resigns as UN Ambassador effective year end, will campaign for Trump in 2020

Feels it’s time to move on after two intense years as Ambassador and six years as SC Governor.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rct93aXIbNc#action=share

UN Ambassador Nikki Haley has decided to step down from her role at the end of the year. She said there are no personal or political reasons why, but that she just wants a break.

Trump said that Haley spoke to him six months ago about ending her tenure at the two year point of her tenure. She will remain there until the end of the year.

Haley said that during her time, the US is now respected. They may not like us, but they respect us. They know that the president means business. She also points out that they have cut the UN budget by almost $2 billion.

Haley also lavished a ton of praise on Ivanka and Jared Kushner. She even called Kushner a “hidden genius.”

Haley said she will not run in 2020, but will campaign for Trump. She was one of the loudest critics of Trump in 2016.

Haley said she is leaving because it is her time. There are no personal or career resigns why. She just wants to take a break.

Did she resign during a meeting last week and it is just being timed for today for some reason?

Tom Servo in reply to casualobserver. | October 9, 2018 at 10:49 am

Oh wait I just realized – Haley resigns today, and Kanye West is visiting the White House on Thursday.

Kanye West is going to be the next UN Ambassador!!!

What I’m hearing, she is resigning over something she failed to disclose that has suddenly come to light.

Ouch. She’s been a standout performer, if there’s some sort of break or enmity between her and the administration it’s not good. Really too bad to lose her.

John Bolton returns as US ambassador to UN?

I always considered her an anti-trumper. Might be stepping aside for a 2020 run. She did a good job of putting some pressure on the UN. Consider her time there a success.

Depending on how mid-terms go, someone stronger might be kicking butt even more. Might be an issue with John Bolton.

Wonder if she is the NTY Anonymous?

Big loss – did an outstanding job, and was great team player.

Too early to tell the reason for the resignation – but I doubt that it was due to any rift between her and the administration.

The ones cheering this resignation are the same people that delusionally believed that Obama’s policies improved US image abroad.

The knucklehead that runs FitsNews tried to smear her when she ran for Governor of SC. The smear? She stayed out until 10 pm! I think she may be accepting a position in the WH

Hmmmm, wonder if Harpootlian has something to do with it. Looks like Fits is all in for that sleazeball! https://www.fitsnews.com/

She never deserved to be part of the Trump admin. She is a Bush neocon anti Trumper.

    LOL.

You’re insane. But you know that.

Close The Fed in reply to garybritt. | October 9, 2018 at 11:08 am

She’s at heart not into Americanism. She looks at our history with disdain and doesn’t mind ripping it out of our hearts.

To hell with her, and her anti-Trump pronouncements.

LI has finally become Twitter. Increasingly more mindless gibberish and opinions from a growing number of people. I can remember hardly a year ago most every post was thoughtful and not just trolling.

Close The Fed in reply to 1A_Rules. | October 9, 2018 at 12:01 pm

So, 1A_Rules, you think attachment to our history, of our War Between the States, is mindlessness? You think opposition to hoardes of illegal aliens and dependent foreigners is “mindless.” People who don’t assimilate? People whose attitude towards, for example, the Mexican-American war wherein we won the southwest means teaching a different view of it? Where we are a minority in our own country and constantly insulted by these foreigners?

So, just where is YOUR heart? Mine is with America. I love her, I cherish her, I don’t dump her history because it’s “inconvenient.” I don’t forget the past to get right with the left or anyone else. I admire America’s efforts to constantly improve, but I don’t appreciate dumping our ancestors because the water got hot.

“I can remember hardly a year ago…” blah blah blah.

        You have a poor memory.

I can remember hardly a year ago most every post was thoughtful and not just trolling.”

I remember hardly a year ago when almost every thread was dominated by arguments generated by some guy named ragsomething or other. Thoughtful is not a word I would use to describe it.

Ragspierre in reply to userpen. | October 9, 2018 at 4:47 pm

          You’d prefer a mindless echo-chamber.

Some of the very best commenters here have left, some in disgust.

          You, conversely and perversely, remain.

        “mindless gibberish”

That’s not really fair. He has a valid complaint – Haley tore down a Confederate battle flag that flew over a civil war memorial.

And according to South Carolinians on the ground, she did so for maximum political effect to spotlight her on the national stage.

You can disagree that “she has disdain for our history”, but the accusation is not unfounded.

Also, 1A_Rules, you’ve given me a compliment: I’ve been commenting on LI for years.

JusticeDelivered in reply to garybritt. | October 9, 2018 at 11:47 am

I really enjoyed her setting the UN straight. Much, maybe most of the time we are better off taking hard line positions rather than pussy footing around.

SC Reader in reply to garybritt. | October 9, 2018 at 3:07 pm

As SC voter, who has always voted for the conservative candidate, I’ve heard enough from the “she took down our flag” whiners. You are embodying the very traits I loathe in leftists. There are more issues than one to address, and adults know that. Furthermore, that flag was only put up in defiance of segregation; it had not been flying continuously since Reconstruction ended. Read history if you claim to venerate it so much. Then you might know there was no single Confederate banner and that most troops from SC probably fought under another one.

SC Reader in reply to SC Reader. | October 9, 2018 at 7:49 pm

I must learn to use comment preview. I meant to say “in defiance of civil rights legislation and in support of segregation”–not “in defiance of segregation” in my earlier comment. However, I see I stepped on some toes (I wonder if they are walking around in SC) with my comment about those who are all “she took down the flag” all the time concerning Ms. Haley.

As infrequently as I get a chance to visit here these days, it’s lovely to see that some things – and people – never change. Bless.

They have a major axe to grind with Haley. I didn’t always agree with her, but she did an outstanding job as UN ambassador. Methinks she may be gearing up for a 2020 run with DJT grooming her. Anytime CREW gets involved it is a big dud.

https://www.fitsnews.com/2018/10/08/washington-ethics-group-wants-probe-of-nikki-haleys-plane-flights/

Sad to hear, she was fabulous at the UN.

Morning Sunshine | October 9, 2018 at 10:46 am

keep this thread open with updates as they happen?

This is horrible news, there were times she was the only light besides Trump working for America’s agenda

Terrible news, terrible

With Trump teasing an announcement with her, doesn’t sound “bad”, maybe moving her somewhere else?

Fen in reply to stl. | October 9, 2018 at 10:52 am

Oh God please, Haley for Sessions.

Close The Fed in reply to Fen. | October 9, 2018 at 11:10 am

Haley will NEVER be as proactive on illegal aliens as Sessions. Damn Sessions all you want, but he is the ONE person dedicated to trying to plug the THOUSANDS of leaks in our system enabling illegal aliens to plop down and call America their home away from home.

zennyfan in reply to Fen. | October 9, 2018 at 11:46 am

Graham for Sessions, Haley for Graham. Sets her up nicely for a presidential run in 2024.

Paul in reply to zennyfan. | October 9, 2018 at 1:43 pm

No more sitting Senators being pulled out for appointments! The Sessions debacle should be a lesson, two-fold. He’s been a disappointment as AG and we lost a Senate seat in the process.

Bad day for America. She was a very effective advocate for Liberty.

Is she being run out on some ethics violation re airline flights? While stolen valor Bloomenthall sits on the Judiciary committee? While Feinstein sits on the Senate Intelligence committee?

#YayHighRoad

On another post they said Trump will replace Nikki with Ivanka?
Yes, they said this seriously

If the US cuts its ties with the UN, we will no longer need the Ambassador.

Thank God! This was planned from when she was appointed. No scandal, no acrimony, no fuel for the libs to feed the crazy libs. Let the riots begin.

Amid all the love for Nikki Haley people should be reminded that without Sarah Palin most of this never happens. IT was her endorsement that catapulted her to the top of the R primary.

Sounds like she’s leaving on great terms, hopefully we’ll see her back as a Senator, Secretary of State or Presidential candidate someday.

Close The Fed | October 9, 2018 at 11:13 am

I frankly resent all the accolades for Haley. Sure, she was decent at the U.N. But that’s not hard to look good standing next to the crazies at the U.N.

She was anti-Trump; her heart and soul are with giving in to the left’s desired destruction of our history and she is totally okay with throwing our history out of the window if some crazy hijacks it for evil deeds.

I loathe her, and if you support her for any post, you get exactly the GOPe support from her that you deserve.

It seems Trump showed Haley, and a few others, how to stand firm and fight the mob. What ever she did in the past, such as giving into the mob regarding the flag, she has found her ovaries of steel.

Now the true test will be, can she keep them?

If she was, she would have had ample opportunity to show it at the UN.

Whatever her opinion of Trump (and she’s promising to campaign for him in 2020), she did an excellent job at the UN.

Close The Fed | October 9, 2018 at 11:17 am

I will say, Trump was clever to put her in the U.N. He took someone opposed to him and co-opted her. Very smart move. Worked like a charm.

Lindsey Graham will replace AG Sessions after the midterms and Haley will be appointed to his seat in the Senate.

Close The Fed in reply to inspectorudy. | October 9, 2018 at 11:25 am

Graham stated yesterday he will run for re-election for the Senate and isn’t interested in the A.G. job.

He’s interested in something. I’m still not buying his spinal transplant. Too convenient.

Close The Fed in reply to Fen. | October 9, 2018 at 11:49 am

Okay, I’m supposed to be working!

I must say I WAS impressed when Graham said he would be going out to campaign against certain colleagues (sp?). Maybe he’s had a more profound change of heart concerning the dems after the Kavanaugh thing, although the dems treachery was always there for anyone to see who was willing to see it. Maybe being in such a small group just blinded him….

        We’ll see if he’s serious…

Another Voice in reply to Close The Fed. | October 9, 2018 at 1:11 pm

          Nope. Totally self-employed. . .

I’m anonymous now because I used my real name on Twitter and after I made an anodyne comment about muslims on twitter, a few called my office and left not-very-veiled threats.

That office hold a lot of power

Lindsey has only recently come , still not trustworthy by any means. He supported too many liberal policy’s AND Mueller investigation for quite some time.

American Human | October 9, 2018 at 11:33 am

I appreciate anyone who can tell the Palestinians to STFU!!

Close The Fed in reply to American Human. | October 9, 2018 at 11:52 am

I hear you, American Human, but really, shouldn’t ANY American be able to do that? If they work for Trump and he tells them that’s his policy, they should carry it out.

I just don’t see that as a difficult job.

I am enthused about cutting the welfare to palestinians. Why we’ve given them money to incessantly engage in riotous conduct, I’ve heard the justifications, but all I hear is “appeasement.” Trump cutting money is the best way to make them go and get a job so they’re too busy working to cause problems.

JusticeDelivered in reply to Close The Fed. | October 9, 2018 at 1:06 pm

make them get a job? Palestinians are very much like our inner city ghetto trash. Basically the same as multi generational welfare recipients. American taxpayers should not be doing anything which enables them.

JusticeDelivered in reply to American Human. | October 9, 2018 at 12:05 pm

I am not sure what is worse, shit hole African countries or Palestinians. I am leaning towards Palestinians taking the prize for being the most useless. Is there any other group which has children for renewable weapons? Using ones children in this manner is pretty damning.

Think Mike Huckabee might be a good replacement.

Might I hesitantly point out that Sam Brownback (former Kansas governor) is currently United States Ambassador-at-Large for International Religious Freedom. Since he’s already been approved by the Senate for that position, there exists the possibility that he will be slipped in for a temporary term while a replacement is being proposed and run through the process. (all of which would happen after the November elections, because why give the Dems hyperventilation fuel before Nov)

Comanche Voter | October 9, 2018 at 12:40 pm

Whatever her reason for leaving—and it might just be what she says it is–“It’s time for a break”—she did a heckuva job. All the various ankle biters speculating that it might be this, it might be that, it might be the creature from the Black Lagoon, are ignoring what she accomplished. Give the lady some credit–and appreciate what she did.

Family, I suspect.

What an exhausting job U.N. Ambassador must be, constantly having to stand up to the sundry tin-pot dictators and totalitarian regimes and human rights abusers who are conferred undeserved legitimacy and clout at the U.N.

Haley has done an amazing job in this role. I wouldn’t read too much in to her resignation — probably just a bit of burn-out, which, frankly, is completely understandable. I wish Ambassador Haley well in whatever future endeavors she pursues! She is one of the genuine stars of the contemporary GOP and a huge asset to the Party. I would love to see her leading a GOP presidential ticket, at some point.

The Friendly Grizzly | October 9, 2018 at 8:41 pm

Gads. This comment stream devolved, rapidly, into some Breitbart or PJMedia playground fight.

I knew that Nikki was not a “Never Trumper”, now find out who signed your name to the Flynn unmasking requests and kick their AZZ.

Haley was a pleasant surprise in her UN role. I wish her the best and I was not one of her supporters originally.

Seriously – someone needs to explain to the learned leader that nobody believes his words from her mouth such as Haley’s love for Javanka and her absolute pledge to not only not run against Trump, but her assurance that she will campaign in his behalf in 2019.

What the world needs now is some truth to wash off his shiite-eating grin.
