This July, the “Baby Trump” blimp flew in London, much to the amusement of European progressives.

Showing that Los Angeles officials are óevery bit as out-of-touch with average Americans as their Euro-counterparts, the balloon just made its debut on the Left Coast by flying over the Los Angeles Convention Center.

The balloon, dubbed “Baby Trump,” depicts the president as an orange-and-yellow scowling toddler with sideswept hair and wearing a diaper. It was raised Friday morning over the 110 and 10 freeway interchange in downtown L.A. as part of Politicon, which bills itself as the “unconventional political convention.”

Mark López, who lives near Lincoln Heights, said he saw online that the balloon was going to be flying overhead so he headed downtown with his camera to snap a few photos.

“I think it’s beautiful,” said López, 29. “They get it right because it’s his way or ‘wah, wah, wah.’”

The balloon is part of the featured entertainment for a political convention being held in the city.

The Politicon conference – which aims to do for politics what Comic-Con does for superhero entertainment franchises – will unfold just a few hundred yards away at the LA Convention Center.

Headliners for the event include the British comedian-turned-aspiring-political-candidate Eddie Izzard – who may remember Baby Trump from the London protests – the hardball anti-Trump lawyer Michael Avenatti, the former New Jersey governor and early Trump champion Chris Christie, and the former Trump foreign policy adviser and suspected Russian intelligence asset Carter Page. Also attending will be a smattering of talking heads familiar from the airwaves including prominent conservatives Tucker Carlson, Ann Coulter and Tomi Lahren.

The president himself, however, will not be in attendance.

We sure hope convention goers avoid contracting typhus, which has broken out in the city as a result of the explosion of homelessness and “Sanctuary State” policies. Since it appears that the disease has not been contained since my original report, it is a good thing balloon Trump is wearing a diaper.

Los Angeles is in the midst of a growing outbreak of flea-borne typhus, and the city’s downtown areas and homeless population is being hit especially hard.

It’s not uncommon to see clusters of cases each year in the area because flea-borne typhus is endemic in Los Angeles County. However, in recent years, the average number of reported cases has doubled to nearly 60 cases per year. In 2018 alone there have already been 63 cases of typhus in the county, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health.

Meanwhile, Trump seems to have consoled himself with another in a series of rallies attended by thousands of supporters. The President did, at least, give a shout out to California in the middle of the Elko, Nevada event…as a cautionary example.

The Republicans running in Nevada’s hotly contested races for governor and U.S. Senate are taking aim at a common target as they try to maintain GOP control of the seats: California.

…GOP candidates are appealing to conservative voters with warnings about life in California: sanctuary cities, crippling business regulations, out-of-control housing prices and a worsening homeless crisis.

I suspect that the air will be let out of the #Resistance once the Nov. 6th ballots are cast and the “Blue Wave” hits a Red Wall.
