New York Socialist Congressional Candidate Ocasio-Cortez joined The Daily Show with Trevor Noah where she was asked a very straightforward and fair question — how she plans to pay for all the “free” programs she’s suggested.
Ocasio-Cortez hemmed and hawed and US Americans such as-ed her way through two minutes, throwing in phrases like “fair share” and “tax the wealthy”, brought up the thoroughly debunked Warren Buffet’s Secretary schtick, but never got around to answering the question.

Ocasio-Cortez seems to be having a hard time grasping basic economic principles, earning a “Pants on Fire” rating from left-leaning Politifact on her explanation of unemployment numbers.
Earlier this week, CRTV released a satirical interview of Ocasio-Cortez, clearly spliced from another. The interview triggered progressives in the best of ways.
After watching this bit from The Daily Show though, CRTV was more than charitable. At least in their version Ocasio-Cortez actually answered questions instead of saying things like, “just last year, we gave the military a $700 billion budget increase that they didn’t even ask for. They’re like, we don’t want another fighter jet! they’re like, don’t give us another nuclear bomb!”

I assume that you are keeping up with current affairs. If so you are assurredly aware that for the last few months, the Federal government has collected RECORD tax revenues. That’s right since the tax CUTS went into effect, tax REVENUES have increased significantly. And, workers have seen more of their wages flowing into their pockets.
the problem is not cutting taxes, it has always been about cutting spending. That is the purview of the Congress, not the President. And, as usual, Congress not only shows NO interest in eliminating the waste in government and cutting spending. They keep raising the debt ceiling and spending more money. So, no matter how High we raise the tax rates, the Congress Critters will always find a way to spend more than they have coming in.
Deregulation helped a lot.

Yeah, the fact that Noah was allowed to ask her a straight question designed to lead to embarrassment tells me that she is just a straw-wench, a token sacrificial lamb, a piece of fodder designed to test the opposition’s defense. The key is to mock her and her type into oblivion w/o giving away an overall strategy. No need to go nucular with a target easily taken out with the proverbial .22 short.
Socialism could work in this country, for a little while anyway, as it works in other countries. The reality of it is the burden of paying for it all means we would have to “progress” through the same way Venezuela did, taking over various businesses, taking over ever more till it is bled dry.
I am not a true believer in Ayn Rand’s full body of work, but her Atlas Shrugged is a blueprint for what the over reach of political factions would have to do to keep the bribes coming.
I saw one of those interviews from her area. The people interviewed were in love with all her positions, sure, who wouldn’t be, free stuff, the bribes of the politicians who want to give everyone no cost college, no cost healthcare, and so on. It sounds good. Yet, when Venezuela is brought up, at least a couple of them paused.
This country needs to be educated to the dangers of what the left is proposing. If these idiots only opened their eyes to what is happening with the economy under Trump compared to the move toward socialism that Obama pushed, they could see the stark reality. It happened under Reagan, and Trump is doing very much as Reagan did. It led to Clinton being able to claim economic success, as Reagan’s work lasted about 20 years. Reagan had the “good times rolling” and people got lazy. Prosperity enabled the left to make claims that it wasn’t Reagan who caused the economy to grow well, so the media and left pushed, it was the left who claimed the economy while they took from it to push the social programs which ultimately killed off the growth. Just like these leftists are trying to do with Trump, claiming it was Obama who left us in such great shape that the economy is rolling now, and Trump’s actions, the tax cuts, the reduction of regulations, all have nothing to do with it.
This little cupcake knows nothing of economy even though she studied it and majored in it in college. Her interviews show she has little intelligence, poor understanding of economics, other than what her socialist/Marxist professors taught. She is a cute face, who promises the lazy that the over priced colleges and universities will be free, ignoring that these institutions have their costs rising far faster than inflation. She is immature, and stupid, but attractive, offering bribes with no way to deliver without bringing down this country, and her ego has become out of control. She is a great example of her party, the child-like belief that progress means ever testing bounds of society’s rule which worked well for centuries, and throwing tantrums when it doesn’t go right.

Trump’s life accomplishments prior to becoming president:
Donald Trump had been around his father Fred’s real-estate company, Elizabeth Trump and Son, for most of his life. But when he graduated college in 1968, at 22, he began working there full-time. After a few years working directly with his father, Fred, Donald took control of the company in 1971, renaming it The Trump Organization. His father’s business focused on building and renting mid-market apartments in Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island, New York; however, when he took over, he set his sights on Manhattan.
Donald immediately sought out building projects that were larger and carried higher profiles than his father’s outer-borough apartment blocks. Fred was reluctant at first but eventually backed Donald’s projects in the heart of the Big Apple.
Donald used the tools and tricks that he’d learned at his father’s side, having inherited Fred’s eye for distressed real-estate gems. And with the entirety of New York City sliding toward bankruptcy in the early 70s, there were more than a few such gems for the having.
Trump’s biggest early deal was rescuing the once-grand Commodore Hotel from bankruptcy and transforming it into the Grand Hyatt. He opened the refurbished hotel in 1980, with the help of a 40-year tax abatement from the City of New York.
In 1983, Trump put his stamp on the city with his 68-story Trump Tower in midtown Manhattan. The mixed-use skyscraper featured the black glass surfaces and brass trimmings that would mark all too many of his later buildings. The building captured the aesthetic of many baby boomers who were coming into money for the first time during the economic boom of the 1980s.
Around this time, Trump began to use his successes as a developer to dip his toe into politics. He made his first such splash with the renovation of Wollman Rink in Central Park. The fixes had begun in 1980 but were more or less in limbo by 1986. Trump publicly lambasted the inefficiency of the governmental agencies in charge of the renovation, starting a war of words with then-Mayor Ed Koch. As part of the argument, Trump offered to complete the renovation himself, for free. He finished in three months, for well below the city’s budget and to the satisfaction of most, proving his point.
His building projects and persona placed Trump squarely in the public eye. And in 1987, he capitalized on his newfound fame with a business book entitled “The Art of the Deal,” which spent 52-weeks on bestseller lists.
Flush with success, Trump moved into the gaming business, buying the Taj Mahal Casino. But the move proved one gamble too many, and by 1989 Trump was in more debt than he could make the payments on. He kept afloat by taking on more loans until 1991. With bankruptcy looming, Trump’s creditors agreed to restructure his debt, taking half-ownership of the casino. From this nadir, Trump gradually restored The Trump Organization’s finances. As the century turned, Donald Trump continued to buy and construct Manhattan real estate. In 2001, he completed the 72-story Trump World Tower, across the avenue from the United Nations building, and began construction on Trump Place, a series of luxury high-rises along the Hudson River.
Another bold move that paid off was Trump’s $73-million purchase of the Chicago Sun-Times building. In its place, he planned to build the tallest building in the world, Trump International Tower, Chicago. His newly refurbished fame was an opportunity for Trump to begin licensing out his name and image. The DC bar exam is not “the easiest bar exam in the nation”; it’s actually one of the toughest. It’s so tough that most people who want to practice law there don’t attempt it; they pass it in their home state and then waive in.

This is the same chick who claimed that “capitalism” hasn’t always existed, and will (if she has her way) soon cease to exist. It’s always fun to watch a leftist try to explain how they’ll finance their dreams by taxing “the rich”, while at the same time explaining how they’re going to destroy capitalism (by taxing it to death, of course). And yet they never seem to anticipate running out of OPM.
The scariest thing about this is that her degree is supposedly in economics and international relations.
She should be answering these questions COLD. She SHOULD be able to LECTURE on the economic theory as to how these programs can be paid for by simple adjustments to the economy which will redirect under-utilized capital to social programs and community enrichment that will advance society and lead to an economic betterment of the whole.
But she can’t do that.
The fact that she CAN’T do that in any sort of a condensed format means that she really has no IDEA what she’s talking about, and BC should REVOKE her grant of a degree.
