Penn Law School Just Hired a ‘Director of Social Justice Programs’

“comes several months after racial controversy gripped the school”

There’s going to come a point where progressive administrators outnumber professors. We’re rapidly approaching that crossroads.

The College Fix reports:

Penn law school hires ‘Director of Social Justice Programs’

The University of Pennsylvania School of Law recently hired a “Director of Social Justice Programs,” a move that comes several months after racial controversy gripped the school following a faculty member’s controversial op-ed.

Emily Sutcliffe, a graduate student at Penn who is studying for her Ph.D in anthropology, was hired in order to “design and implement the Toll Public Interest Scholars Program, collaborate with faculty advisors to inform social justice programs, and develop networks with social justice partners in order to increases students’ opportunities, among other duties,” according to The Daily Pennsylvanian.

The law school’s Toll Public Interest Center, which hired Sutcliffe for the position, “oversees Penn Law’s pro bono programs, which serve a number of nonprofits and underrepresented communities,” The Pennsylvanian reports.

The new hire comes a short while after two alumni donated $3 million to the law school “to expand the Center’s Public Service program.”

The position also comes on the heels of last fall’s controversy surrounding Penn Law professor Amy Wax, who authored a column arguing in favor of “bourgeois culture” and who stated that “all cultures are not created equal.” The ongoing controversy at the university has included Wax’s being targeted for removal from teaching a course, threats from Black Lives Matter, and the resignation of a trustee.
