Student Leaving Marquette Says it’s No Longer a Jesuit and Catholic University

“There is no acceptance of conservative thoughts”

Many of America’s Catholic colleges and universities seem to have been taken over by left wing ideology.

The Daily Caller reports:

Student Leaves Catholic University After Social Justice Allegedly Overtakes Religion

A Catholic university student announced Wednesday in an op-ed he is leaving his school, alleging “rampant political bias” and a growing divorce of the school from the Catholic Church.

Former Marquette student Zachary Petrizzo said students would shout “trigger warning” when walking by him in the hallway, with one even warning that he would be “hunted down” if he entered the school’s intercultural center, in Campus Reform.

“After one year at the institution…I have discovered that Marquette is anything but a Jesuit and Catholic university,” Petrizzo said. “There is no acceptance of conservative thoughts, let alone ‘diversity of thought,’ and opinions that I support are frequently shut down in the classrooms.”

The former student, who is now seeking enrollment in a Washington, D.C. school, noted that he spoke approvingly about the concept of a border wall in a comparative politics class, but was “verbally rebuked” by his professor. Petrizzo also reflected on an instance in which multiple professors at the Catholic university placed Planned Parenthood signs on their doors. “Microaggression”-obsessed administrators purportedly did not affirm the school’s pro-life stance afterward.

The same goes for Catholic high schools, as well. Our local Catholic high school no longer teaches religion, nor do its feeder schools, because it might offend the non-Catholic students. Yet, catholic students to are subjected to “worldview” religions, to learn about “diversity”.
Meh.
I say this as a former Roman Catholic .

1. Identify a respected institution.
2. kill it.
3. gut it.
4. wear its carcass as a skin suit, while demanding respect.

Come to Texas.

I don’t understand this. Doesn’t the Catholic church have canon law courts, in which this student could sue the university? Wouldn’t the university have to answer a summons from a canon law court and submit to its jurisdiction?

” he spoke approvingly about the concept of a border wall in a comparative politics class, but was “verbally rebuked” by his professor.”

The present Pope is probably anti-border walls. I was too young to be involved in the controversies over Vatican II, but the Pope’s “progressive” social positions have been very disturbing to me and I now understand better how Vatican II drove many Catholics (both ordained and lay) from the Church.
