South Carolina’s NAACP President Claims He Was Racially Profiled During Traffic Stop, Cop’s Body Cam Footage Says Otherwise

And he would’ve gotten away with it too if not for that pesky body cam footage!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=229&v=PmnfnUnW63E

South Carolina NAACP President Rev. Jerrod Moultrie made up one heckuva tall tale in April alleging he was racially profiled and harassed during a routine traffic stop.

In a since-deleted Facebook post, Moultrie wrote about his encounter making himself out to be a tough guy and victim of a mean and racist cop who was convinced Moultrie had drugs.

From The Maven:

Timmonsville, SC – The South Carolina NAACP president posted about how he was racially profiled on a traffic stop, and now the police chief has responded by releasing bodycam video and calling him a liar (video below.)

NAACP President Rev. Jerrod Moultrie posted to Facebook on April 13 about how he was just racially profiled on a traffic stop.

The allegations in his account are disturbing, and would indicate profiling by the officer – except none of it was true.

Below is a transcript of the interaction as posted by Rev. Moultrie:

Me: hello sir how can I help you

Officer: I am stopping you cause you fail to put on a turn signal and do you have any drugs in the car

Me: sir how would you know If I used my tum signal when you was approaching me as I turn and is there any drugs in your car?

Officer: License and registration

Me:sir can I take off my seat belt and get it

Officer: sure

Me: (as i open glove box i said )sir this is a new car i just purchased and all ! have is bill of sale, insurance card and registration from car I am transferring tags

Officer: ok where you work and who car is this and why you in this neighborhood

Me: sir I am a pastor and I live in the house on the left

Officer:And I guess I am the bill gates

Me: sir what’s the problem

Officer: I ask who car for the last time and why you in this neighborhood

Me: I told you for last time who car and where I live.( as my neighborhood starts to come out there house) By the way sir can I speak to your supervisor

Officer: walks away with my information When he returned he said did you know your tags comes back to another vehicle

Me: sir I just explain this to you

Officer: you need to park this vehicle and never drive it till you get this straight with DMV

Me: sir I have purchased multiple vehicles and never heard this now officer and I start fussing cause I said well i will be driving my car sir and anyt time I want

Officer: I am waming you to not drive this car till tags get straight and just know I am doing you a favor tonight not taking you to jail or writing you a ticket

Me: sir you might be doing your Self a favor but you certainly not doing me a favor.

The reverend finished off his post by saying that his wife and baby were in the back seat, but still he was profiled and accused of having drugs.

“Guess I can’t be a pastor and can’t drive a Mercedes Benz and live in a nice neighborhood,” Rev. Moultrie said. “…someone needs to answer for this behavior and this officer will.”

Hilariously, a local community activist is responsible for outing Moultrie. After seeing Moultrie’s Facebook post, Timothy Waters went down to the police station to dig up the body cam footage, according to WPDE.

“Once I got a copy of that body cam, it’s as if he made the whole story up. And I felt like he set us back 100 years, because think about all of the racial profiling cases (that) are true, said Waters.”

Giggling as I type because what you’re about to see is nothing close to what Moultrie claimed happened.

The Maven with the rest of the story:

WPDE reports that Timmonsville Police Chief Billy Brown said that Rev. Moultrie even went so far as to contact him the next morning to claim that he had been racially profiled and mistreated.

“He made a comment that the officer accused him of having drugs in the car. He said that his wife and grandchild was in the car. He asked them not to move because the officer looked as if he might shoot them or something. He also made mention that the officer continued to ask him about his neighborhood. Why was he in that neighborhood? And threaten(ed) to put him in jail in reference to something dealing with the registration to the vehicle,” Chief Brown told WPDE. Except all of those accusations were lies.

“When I saw the video, I was shocked that someone who is supposed to be a community leader, a pastor, and head of the NAACP would just come out and tell a blatant lie. It bothered me. It really bothered me, thinking about the racial unrest it could’ve cost in the community and it’s just troubling to me that someone who held a position like that would come out and just tell a lie,” Brown told WPDE.

Rev. Moultrie refused to comment to the news station, and instead referred them to Timmonsville NAACP officers Kenneth McAllister and Henry James Dixon.

Both men told the station that they didn’t need to see the video because they support Rev. Moultrie, and know that he’s a man of integrity who wouldn’t lie.

Maybe don’t make stuff up?

Funny that bodycams were developed to protect citizens against police abuse. Turns out they are protecting police against citizen abuse.

I was a beat cop in Honolulu. If I were still on the job, I would be making a beeline to get a body cam. Too many instances of the public lying to smear a cop. Far too many.

Just in the past week, I’ve seen 3 instances in the news of people lying about their interaction with an officer.

Works both ways. Last time I got a ticket, video proved the cop lied and the ticket was bogus.

JusticeDelivered | May 17, 2018 at 9:22 pm

Apparently this guy was too stupid to recognize the body cam, or its implications. Throw the book at him.

Phone cameras, body cams, the large variety of small recording devices (audio and/or video) have hindered the left in perpetuating their lies. Truth is the left’s worst enemy.

Not sure if he was trying to promote himself or his cause, but he just discredited the NAACP and his cause. We all make mistakes. But by now, if he doesn’t have the shame to fall on his own sword, it’s likely because he is just another corrupt race hustler.

And a hat tip to the activist who outed him. Sounds like he turned in a teammate for making false accusations. That takes courage and integrity. Well done.

I doubt it was that noble. Going down to the police station to request body cam footage is going to trigger an internal investigation (at the very least a review) in any department worth its salt. It’s only logical to do so to get ahead of anything that could be damaging. Cops don’t have much to gain from “outing” the liar in any place but a court of law because it would make the organization will look petty. However, I imagine someone said, “you do this or we will.”

It is hard to discredit the NAACP when its leaders say “they don’t need to see the video” because they believe this charlatan.

His actions were just consistent with their methodology – tell a lie and keep up the lie even after there is proof that it is a lie.

YellowGrifterInChief in reply to JOHN B. | May 18, 2018 at 1:23 pm

Is a financial disclosure form as good as body cam? If so, Trump has just been proved a liar since he claimed he didn’t pay Stormy Daniels and his Financial Disclosure Forms say otherwise. Since he didn’t report the loan on last year’s form, he is a perjurer. Not reported here? That’s OK. You can find it plenty of places.

So the question is Should he resign?

JLSpeidel in reply to Fen. | May 18, 2018 at 8:16 am

The activist requested the video because he supported the pastor. Once he saw the footage, he was stunned and dismayed.

NAACP has in large part been discrediting themselves since their inception. As more people figure out that most claims of racism are false, NAACP will lose what little credibility they have left.

I would have loved a body cam as a police officer. I never had a use of force complaint against me in the entire time I worked the streets. I had good relations with my community, (they pretty much adopted me and my children and locals from guys I arrested to respected council members attended both their weddings they also asked that my children and grandchildren go to the local schools and hired them after they graduated). But I wasn’t that different from most of the ‘old timers’. The generation that grew up with the California military mindset really needed and deserved better training for what they were facing.

The world was changing. Two things were happening. People really were pushing the envelope to see how far they could damage the police before getting stopped. The other is that with real discrimination fading, ever smaller and more insignificant slights were sought to take the place of the real discrimination (now of course magnified by nostalgia and media) so that people had to be constantly ready to be offended.

Training and common sense did not keep up. Character, intelligence, and physical ability were no longer the top priority for an officer. Where both of my grandfathers had to reach the 6’4″ standard to be a state trooper that was dropped in the early seventies. What mattered was your identity, race, ethnicity, and ability to spout political correctness.

The trouble was that just as character and integrity were becoming vital society quit teaching or encouraging such things.

Now when we need it more than ever, gang members are being recruited, felons are being recruited, people utterly unable to preform their duties are recruited.

Body cams are a God send for two reasons. First people behave better when they know they are being watched. Second, people can see what it is really like, see what really happened. Hear what was really said.

I am sure most of those people who have recently been embarrassed the officer’s body cam believed most of what they said was true. People under stress and angry can miss-remember easily especially if they are not used to truly reflecting and recording their statements.

Body cams are good things but I can’t wait for the day when cops are able to act like my grandfather did and treated the same way by their communities. Then we won’t need body cams.

    TY, very much.

JusticeDelivered in reply to forksdad. | May 18, 2018 at 7:15 pm

I very much appreciate the difficulties police face. I also think that most of the complaints are made with the ghetto lottery in mind. I love the fact that police body cams are serving to catch sleaze bags in their lies, that is poetic justice.
One of the things I have thought about when dealing with riots, would be to have a wide angle camera and an image splitter camera on the scope. That would allow legitimate kills to be documented. Those who are caught lighting a molotov, committing any type of arson, assaulting another person; in other words putting lives at risk, deserve to be permanently stopped.
A fringe benefit of gun mounted cameras is that they could be used to identify looters, and those looters should face hard time, and lifetime revocation of any state or federal aid.

It HAS gone viral….all over Facebook, as well as Liveleak and Youtube. BTW, he isn’t the SC NAACP president, that would be the equally sickening Dr. Lonnie Randolph. This guy is the Pee Dee chapter president.

Too bad the Reverend didn’t learn the 9th Commandment – thou shalt not bear false witness…

    There are exclusions, apparently.

Yes, well, he’s not just a minister, he’s a “radical, revolutionary, innovative, annointed and cutting edge” minister. So, perhaps he just updated the Big Ten to suit a higher (political) cause?

“Radical, Revolutionary, Innovative, Anointed and cutting edge are some of the words often used to describe Pastor Moultrie. He is a Minister of the New Millenniem. Pastor Moultrie has broken the sterotype of yesterday’s clergymen.”

The “Rev” is cruising in a Mercedes, sounds like he’s in it for the money, not salvation.

Sounds like somebody’s finally learned the lessons of the past few years.

1. Have video!!!! It’s cheap and easy; there are few excuses left.

2. Be prepared to release the video immediately, before a mythical “narrative” is planted.

Failure to do both of these just makes it easy for the race-baiters and SJWs to manipulate the Press and “The Community”.

I’m tired of the word racism. Let’s talk about bigotry, because that’s what we have here.

The obama legacy: “Make America Hate Again.”

I don’t even understand why the fool posted anything, it was a nothing burger. He set himself up.

Rush called it for what it is, NAALP. National Association of Always Lying People.

Their hero, Malcolm X, set the stage….”By any means necessary”

“Thou shalt not bear false witness,” Rev. That includes revolutionary false witness….

DouglasJBender | May 18, 2018 at 4:31 am

That guy’s command of the English language is a bit less than authoritative.

“…know that he’s a man of integrity who wouldn’t lie.”

I guess that depends on the definitions of “integrity” and “lie.” Leftists seem to redefine words to fit the narrative. “1984” is used as a guide by the left.

Ha,,, interesting how the NAACP leadership DOES NOT want to see the body cam for the TRUTH & FACTS ?? This should be reported in every news paper and posted on every telephone pole so the public knows the Truth !!

Mission accomplished! I now assume with an extremely high degree of confidence that all personal reports of racism are lies and that all reported acts of campus racism, etc., are hoaxes. These acts need to be legislated as hate crimes and the persons should be charged accordingly.

The Rev is an activist. And activists will often do whatever it takes to advance their “cause”. And, lying to advance that cause is an almost universal tool of activists. This is clear illustrated by the news media which has abandoned its mask of impartiality and have shown their true colors as political activists.

Are these guys related?

http://www.wbal.com/article/310856/2/video-shows-contentious-interaction-between-police-city-official

But what I really want to know is who is the cop that he called on the phone to get him out of the tickets? We need a new Balmer HBO series called “The Body-cam” to fill in the void after The Wire.

I figure he’s going to have to repeat the “Elementary Race Baiting” course he took at the “Revrund Al School of Shakedowns and Heavy Machinery”. I

YellowGrifterInChief | May 18, 2018 at 1:26 pm

I guess this conclusively proves that there is not now, and never has been, racial profiling.

Awefully hard to “racially profile” persons in the dark with black tint windows. The video/audio just completed the cop vindication.

“Who ya gonna believe – me or your own eyes?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cHxGUe1cjzM

These incidents of false accusations of alleged racism and racist behavior seem to happen ad nauseam, today. Which begs the important question, why? The Left’s culture of perpetual and contrived grievance and alleged victim-oppressor narratives are one reason. This ethos makes some people desire to achieve the highest “victim” status possible, as an ego-driven status symbol — see Michelle Obama’s fabricated lie about being the alleged victim of racist treatment at Target, because some clueless, elderly white woman who clearly didn’t recognize her in disguise, asked her for help in reaching detergent situated on a high shelf. Or, Oprah Winfrey’s similarly false tale of being denied a request to examine an expensive handbag in a store in Europe, by the clerk.

But, I’d submit that Because we are at the point in our history were racist incidents are so infrequent and isolated, that, the Left needs to perpetually conjure up false narratives of alleged racism, in order to have a perpetual pinata to beat, as demagoguery talking point.

Lying is a genetic component of these people.

By which you surely mean “congenital liberals,” especially those that have swallowed the Democrat Party mythos of being “for the black person.”
