“Peaceful Palestinian protesters” set fire to gas pipeline supplying fuel to Gaza

“Peaceful Palestinian protesters” set fire to gas pipeline supplying fuel to Gaza

And also sabotage the main terminal bringing civilian goods into Gaza

When you hear about the suffering of people in Gaza, always remember how Hamas, which controls Gaza, diverts cement, steel and other infrastructure supplies including electricity into building elaborate attack tunnels and developing military rocket capabilities.

Add to Hamas other groups, such as Islamic Jihad, which are devoted to Israel’s destruction and devote resources to that end, and it’s clear that the problem is not Israel or the military blockade, but the decisions made by Palestinians themselves.

We saw it in the last several weeks of the so-called Great March of Return, which has seen waves of attackers trying to break through the border fence. It’s a military operation under cover of civilian protests. When that hasn’t worked, they’ve armed kites with incendiary devices and have succeeded in setting Israel agricultural fields and nature reserves on fire.

The environmental crimes of the “protesters” have been self-destructive. They burned thousands of tires creating a toxic cloud of toxic black smoke which, due to prevailing winds, stayed over Gaza.

But today brought the worst self-inflicted wounds. “Protesters” today set the main gas line supplying fuel to Gaza on fire and also seriously damaged the terminal through which most goods were shipped into Gaza.

The Times of Israel reports:

Dozens of Palestinians broke into the Gaza side of the Kerem Shalom border crossing between Israel and the Hamas-run Strip on Friday evening, setting fire to the gas pipeline that supplies fuel to the Strip, the army said.

The Gazans, who did not break through to the Israeli side of the border, trashed their own supply infrastructure, Israeli military officials said.

The IDF shared video of the Kerem Shalom incident, during which Palestinians broke into the Palestinian side of the crossing and damaged pipelines carrying gas and oil into Gaza, which already suffers from a large energy shortage….

Kerem Shalom is the main crossing for goods and humanitarian aid to pass into Strip from Israel.

Elsewhere, there were two mass attempts to damage and breach the security fence around the central Gaza Strip during the protests, the army said.

Israeli soldiers who were called to the scene of those attempts forced back the demonstrators using less-lethal riot dispersal weapons and live fire.

“Two attempts by a group of rioters to damage the fence and cross into Israeli territory from the central [Gaza] Strip were thwarted a short while ago,” the army said on Friday evening.

Here is the Kerem Shalom terminal before the “peaceful Palestinian protesters” got ahold of it today:

Today was not the first time Palestinians have tried to destroy the Kerem Shalom crossing. In January of this year, we reported on Israel’s destruction of a tunnel built by Hamas intended to blow up the crossing.

In 2008 suicide bombers tried to blow up the crossing:

Palestinian suicide bombers from Gaza drove three explosives-laden vehicles into the Kerem Shalom goods crossing on the border with Israel early on Saturday, detonating two of them, the Israeli military said.

Three bombers were killed in the blasts and 13 Israeli soldiers were wounded, three moderately and the rest lightly, the military said.

Hamas, the Islamic group that controls the Gaza Strip, claimed responsibility for the attack. It came on the eve of the weeklong Passover holiday in Israel and hours before former President Jimmy Carter held a second meeting in Damascus with exiled leaders of Hamas, reportedly to explore the possibility of a cease-fire and a prisoner exchange between the group and Israel.

Hamas is holding an Israeli soldier, Cpl. Gilad Shalit, who was captured in a border raid on an army position not far from Kerem Shalom and taken into Gaza in June 2006. The group is demanding the release of hundreds of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails in return for the Israeli corporal.

So much of Palestinian harm is self-inflicted. But you’ll never hear that from the biased international media, which takes Hamas propaganda at face value and almost never holds Palestinians accountable for their own conduct.

Instead, all we hear about in the media is “peaceful Palestinian protesters.”

Paleostinians gotta Paleo.

Israel ought to do *nothing* until the wogs fix their own mess.

Agree with you red. Leave the crossing destroyed.

Something is seriously wrong with people that want to break their own $hit. 🙂

I don’t know, the super smart, hard working Silicon Techies and other “elite” Californians seem to be doing a pretty darn good job of exactly the same thing. They just do it with more class.

Troll or just idiot?

The majority of Americam poor blacks just want to get along, they don’t want to kill white people.

Yes, there is a similarity in that the typical American race riot results in arsonists and looters destroying the stores and infrastructure the local populace depends on. But it makes more sense to blame that on the stupidity of the average (totally generic) mob.

These “Palestinians” (AKA, Arabs) resemble nothing as much as a bunch of spite-filled, belligerent and destructive children. And, like bad parents, the Leftists who perpetuate and who subscribe to fallacious and contrived myths and propaganda of alleged Arab victimhood and alleged Israeli “oppression,” enable and perpetuate the childish antics of these people.

Gaza has total autonomy, and, if were managed by anything other than a group of embittered and goose-stepping Islamic National Socialists, could easily be a stable and peaceful hub of tourism and economic growth (like Israel).

With total predictability, the Arabs consistently choose the belligerent and supremacist dictates of their totalitarian ideology over peace, stability, growth and self-development, every time. They are the only ones they should blame for their ills and miseries.

I’m no defender of “Arabs”, but you need to understand the history of the region. I suggest that you look at the history how Israel came to be. What a “Palestinian” is and what their Arab neighbors think of them. I found it interesting how Jordan treated the “Palestinians”. These guys are the Pikers of the Middle East.

Chutzpah is defined as “When a child murders his mother and father and then, during his trial, demands mercy from the court because he is a orphan.”
Palestinians are clearly demonstrating their own version of chutzpah.

The Gazan petri dish is full and they are drowning in their own waste.

These Pallies must have taken a page from the Baltimore rioters a few years ago.

I was thinking more like the Cleveland riots back in the mid-60’s…. Or for that matter, any time the welfare class decides it wants to go Christmas shopping at the expense of working people.

Schedule repairs for June 2019, give them a year of living without the comforts of civilization. There is nothing like pain to get a dysfunctional retarded societies attention.

Right now, and for many years in the past, the Palestinian thugs have been the ones to control the conversation. Israel needs to go deaf for a season and allow the Palestinians to re-think their position in life. If they broke it, they can fix it….and if they can’t afford to fix it, or don’t have the skills. To bad.

Let Hamas clean up their own mess. Have the Muslims suffer because of their own government would be good for their souls.

      Schedule repairs for June 2019

Just pointing out a typo. Should that not be June 2119? In the meantime, I assume that there are all sorts of valves and manifolds that can keep natural gas away from the damaged area, purely for the safety of the Gazans so that they do not suffer from a natural gas explosion. And because of the risk of further damage, the Kerem Shalom crossing and all roads leading to it should be closed until all repairs are done.

The optimist in me had a moment where I imagined that the new arrangement with Saudi Arabia, a teetering and broke Iran, and a world that overspent on the refugees…… might….just might stop funding Hamas…. and without the funding and organization, the attacks on Israel could decline rapidly and maybe, just maybe the Palestinians would no longer be seen as pawns and get on with their lives.

Our civil rights movement showed that in the right environment, people can change and come together in a relatively short period of time.

I know it WON’T happen. But it could.

    It did? In what sense?

“…Hamas, the Islamic group that controls the Gaza Strip…”

You mean the terrorist group that the Gazans voted for? Screw them all.

What else would you expect from a bunch of Islamist? They’re all morons.

I like it when the IDF shoots them in the knees. The resulting limp forever slows them down and marks them for life as a troublemaker.

Let me try to wrap my mind around this, in public, so I can be critiqued.

    1. Gazans consist almost entirely of aspiring Rhodes scholars and budding international athletes.

    2. The IDF is blowing their legs off because due to their evil Joooo powers they know how not only to control the weather (Washington D.C. s**tty councilman) but the evil Joooo powers also lets them divine who the best and brightest of the Gazams and target them.

    3. Where the evil zionists draw them to the border fence.

    4. When they can’t breach the border fence they burn tires exactly like the evil Joooos had planned all along.

    5. More legs blown off.

6, Now the Rhodes scholars/Olympic athletes are attacking fuel pipelines.

7, When the Rhodes scholars/Olympic athletes have no other way to get around except on crutches.

    8. I’m supposed to feel sorry for the Rhodes scholars/Olympic athletes of Gaza.

    Have I missed anything here?

“7, When the Rhodes scholars/Olympic athletes have no other way to get around except on crutches.”

7. A. cars don’t get around well on bare rims

7. B. cars don’t ger around at all without fuel.

7. C. Bipedal hominids don’t get around all that well without the “bi” part the “ped” part of the equation. See “leopard” for further expansion on this point.

So now I’m going to shed a tear for these clown?
