Media Blames Israel for Killing Gaza “Protesters” During U.S. Embassy’s Move to Jerusalem

The American media can’t seem to pass up an opportunity to vilify Israel.

Mass “protests” have left some 2,400 Gazans wounded and approximately 50 dead, though those numbers come from Gaza’s Health Ministry, not other, better verifiable sources.

To be clear, these were not protests. The entire affair was organized by Hamas in a months-long event called the “Great Return March.” The “Great Return March”, as it’s so innocuously labeled, began on March 30, leading up to final events on May 14th and 15th.

The events of the “Great Return March”, which started on March 30, 2018, are expected to reach their peak on two consecutive dates: May 14, the day on which the US Embassy will be transferred from Tel Aviv to its new location in Jerusalem; and May 15, on which Palestinians mark Nakba Day. The month of Ramadan, which will probably begin on May 16 (depending on the new moon), may also contribute to the expected violence. The culmination of the events, according to Hamas, the dominant player, is expected to be Palestinian mass penetration into Israel (as an implementation of the “right of return”). The mass penetration is expected to be accompanied by acts of violence and maybe even terrorist attacks exceeding what has been seen so far.

Hamas is heavily involved in the organization and planning of the “Great Return March”:

Statements by Hamas (the dominant organization behind the events) and the Supreme National Authority for the Return March (the front organization organizing the events) reveal that the Palestinians aspire to bring hundreds of thousands of Palestinian demonstrators to the border area on the peak days of the march. This past Friday, May 11, 2018, was designated by the organizing body as “Friday of preparations and warnings” and was supposed to serve as preparation for a larger event called “the Return March of the Millions,” which will take place on May 14, 2018 (Shehab, May 4, 2018).[1] The organizers call on Palestinians in Judea and Samaria, Israeli Arabs and Palestinians in the Arab countries to join the protests. In addition, anti-Israeli demonstrations are planned to take place in Western countries, including in London (protest demonstration in front of Israel’s Embassy, May 11, 2018), in Athens (demonstration in front of Israel’s Embassy, May 15, 2018), and in Vienna (demonstration on May 13, 2018).

Naturally, American news outlets are portraying Israel as the aggressor and are pointing to America’s decision to move its embassy as the catalyst for the protests, and ignorantly so.

A WaPo headline that reads thusly:

The New York Times similarly whitewashed Hamas-led violence in their headline:

The WaPo described the intentions of various “protesters”:

“We are excited to storm and get inside,” said 23-year-old Mohammed Mansoura. When asked what he would do inside Israel, he said, “Whatever is possible, to kill, throw stones.”Two other young men carried large knives and said they wanted to kill Jews on the other side of the fence.

According to the Times of Israel, “‘Rioters are hurling pipe bombs and firebombs at IDF troops, burning tires, throwing stones and burning objects, with the intention of setting fires in Israel and hurting IDF troops,” the army says.”

Three rioters were killed by the IDF while attempting to install a bomb along the Israel/Gaza border fence:

The Israeli army says it killed three armed Palestinians who were attempting to lay a bomb on the border fence with Gaza.“Moments ago, an IDF patrol foiled a bomb-laying attack by a cell of three armed terrorists near Rafah, close to the border. This is a particularly violent protest point. The troops responded with fire at the terrorists. The terrorists were killed.”The IDF also says an Israeli aircraft targeted a Hamas post in Jabaliya after shots were fired at Israeli troops stationed in the area. There were no Israeli casualties, the army says.Israel says 35,000 Palestinians are protesting at a dozen locations along the Gaza border.

Disrupters were encouraged to commit to memory maps of Israel in order to effectively breach fences and communities:

The White House is accepting no responsibilty and instead, putting the blame for any loss of life where it belong, on Hamas.
