Scripps College Postpones Then Desegregates ‘No Whites’ Pool Party

“due to concerns about student safety”

This stupid idea is turning into a public relations nightmare. You would think someone at the school would have thought about how bad it looked.

The Claremont Independent reports:

Scripps College Pool Party Desegregated

Update: The pool party has now been postponed. Scripps College President Lara Tiedens sent out the following email to students this afternoon:

“The pool party has been postponed due to concerns about student safety in the wake of numerous phone calls and emails from the public expressing hostility and threatening physical violence.”

After the Independent reported that event organizers segregated tonight’s pool party at Scripps College, barring white students from attending, the organizers changed their event’s description to allow all students regardless of race at the Claremont Colleges—a consortium consisting of Scripps College, Pomona College, Harvey Mudd College, Claremont McKenna College, and Pitzer College—to attend the pool party hosted at the college’s Sallie Tiernan Field House.

However, after the Independent’s article about the POC-only event reached a national audience, the organizers changed their events description to be more inclusive, and allow all students, including those who identify as white, to attend the pool party. The current version of Facebook event description states that the pool part “is open to all 5C [Claremont Colleges] students.”

So the college learned nothing. It appears they cancelled, not because they realized it was a terrible idea, but they claim people were being hostile and threatening.

What the hell is Scripps thinking of? My sister went there and says the administration has lost their collective minds.

After all this … why would any white person want to attend anyway’s? Well … I guess if some white folk “identify” as another color … then they might wanna go.

Never mind …

Well that is the odd thing. Scripps really hasn’t changed that much demographically since I went to the Claremont Colleges. It is overwhelmingly white and Asian, being representative of upperclass/ middleclass exceptional students.
But its politics are driven by the affirmative action students and week end SJW. I suspect the average student is simply interested in studies and dates.

I am struggling with the concept “identify as white.” Does not my DNA determine my skin color? If I think I am a color that is different than my actual color, would I be delusional?

Oh, no, no, no! These days you can be what ever race, gender or ethnicity your little heart desires. So have fun and don’t let any of those nasty Trump supporters tell you you can’t be whatever you want to imagine yourself!

If somebody “identifies” as something they’re not, then they have a mental disorder. Period.

I would have thought John Mendoza identifying as a “lesbian trapped inside a man’s body” in a comedy routine from about 20 years ago would have ended this stupidity in its infancy, but I guess some of the clueless just grabbed and ran with it.

When I see adolescents wandering around with their openly transgendered parent in PDX, all I can think is “well there’s a lifetime of therapy.”
