Prof Claims Free Speech and Property Rights Fuel ‘Capitalist Violence’

“Understanding Racial Capitalism and the Open Secret of Racial Capitalist Violence”

The academic left is so emboldened that they think nothing of espousing rhetoric like this.

Campus Reform reports:

Prof says individual rights fuel ‘capitalist violence’

A Marquette University professor recently argued that individual liberties, including free speech and property rights, are merely forces “that reproduce capitalist violence.”

Professor Jodi Melamed made the remarks during a lecture titled “Understanding Racial Capitalism and the Open Secret of Racial Capitalist Violence,” which she delivered at St. Olaf college on April 20.

After “acknowledging the people of this land, especially the Wahpekute Dakota who have been relative to this land on which St. Olaf sits for melania,” Melamed stated that the purpose of her address was to “share with you guys some new work on the open secret of racial capitalist violence.”

The scholar went on to define racial capitalism as a “way of thinking about how racial procedures that differentially value and devalue, and devalued human being are inseparable from capitalist relations of accumulation.” According to the professor, capitalism “requires inequality” while racism “enshrines the inequality that capitalism requires.”

“In my book [Represent and Destroy] I focus on three domains of administration that reproduce capitalist violence as an open secret but all work together in practice,” she continued. “The first is police procedures, the second is the exercise of rights, especially individual rights, property rights, states rights [and] free speech as well.”

The most egregious “devaluing of human life” seems to be most prevalent among non-capitalistic societies.

Abortion is the ultimate devaluation of human life, and I’m sure she’s just fine with that.

The free exchange of goods, labor, and/or money involves absolutely Zero violence

The coercion of “socialism” is inherently violent

I’ll betcha that Jodi Melamed doesn’t exactly lead the life of an ascetic … and she evidently is willing to work within the capitalist system to manage her life and needs as well as peddle the swill of her ideology. She’s just another prof with a big mouth and a stupid idea and who bemoans people that act just as she does. What a bitch.

individual liberties, including free speech and property rights, are merely forces “that reproduce capitalist violence.”

Um, okay, if you say so. And this is a bad thing? Why, exactly?

the Wahpekute Dakota who have been relative to this land on which St. Olaf sits

Um, they’ve been what? How can a person be “relative” to land? What common measurement exists between them, so that one could compare them?

a “way of thinking about how racial procedures that differentially value and devalue, and devalued human being are inseparable from capitalist relations of accumulation.”

What language is this in? It seems awfully like English, but it’s clearly not. Is it Friesian? Perhaps Bajan?

PS: I know exactly what she meant by “relative”. I’m pretending not to know, because what she actually means is even sillier than the meaning I pretend to attribute to it.

And group rights spawn identity violence and even genocide. Will take individual rights anyday as the basis of freedom. Without freedom it is hard to reach equality.
