The Senate Democrats have reached a deal with the GOP majority to re-open the government after three days of a shutdown. From Politico:
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) agreed to end the shutdown and fund the government through Feb. 8 while continuing to negotiate on immigration and spending matters. Without a broader deal, the Senate would take up legislation to protect hundreds of thousands of young undocumented immigrants who are losing legal protections, as long as the government remains open.“The process will be neutral and fair to all sides,” Schumer said. “We expect that a bipartisan bill on [the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program] will receive fair consideration and an up-or-down vote on the floor.”
*UPDATE 4:45PM* The Senate has voted to re-open the government. Now it heads to the House, which should happen between 5:125-6:15.
CNN’s Jake Tapper pointed out these questions remain:
With 80 votes, the Senate has voted to end the debate and break the filibuster. Now they will vote to pass the actual bill and if they pass it, it will go back to the House.
Republicans Senators Rand Paul (KY) and Mike Lee (UT) voted no, which they did last week.

But Democrats began to yield after Mr. McConnell made conciliatory remarks on Monday, dropping accusations that Democrats had shut down the government over illegal immigration and offering more specificity about his willingness to vote on an immigration measure whether or not Mr. Trump had indicated his support.“We should not let the political feuds or policy disagreements obscure the simple fact that every member of this body cares deeply about the challenges facing our country,” Mr. McConnell said on Monday. “All of us want to make life better for the American people.”
