VIDEO: Berkeley Students Protest Midterm Exam, Accuse Prof. of White Privilege
Tests are now a form of white supremacy or something.
A small group of students at UC Berkeley recently protested a midterm exam. They accused the professor of not checking his privilege and seemed angry at other students for not siding with them.
They were clearly trying to tie the situation to race and immigration but the whole thing was so ridiculous that no one was taking them seriously.

UC Berkeley students attempted to shut down their midterm exam, with claims that it would have a negative impact on their physical and mental health. The students, who were captured on video, demanded a “take-home essay with significant time to prepare” and accused their uncooperative professor of not checking his privilege.
“This is a campus that is truly related throughout Latin America to the notion of free speech, said professor Harley Shaiken to the class, eliciting laughter and derision from the protesters.
Dismissive of the professor, the activists claimed that their “well-beings are being put on the line because of the emotional, mental, and physical stress that this university is compounding with what is already going on in [their] everyday lives.”
One protester shouted: “Have you ever checked ‘unlisted’ or ‘undocumented immigrant’? I don’t think so!”
Shaiken, who has written about workers’ rights in Mexico, is an expert in labor issues and earned the Outstanding Teaching Award at the University of California, San Diego in 1991. Despite his expertise in the subject, the students called him unfit to lecture them on the subject because he is white.
“Are you trying to silence us right now? Is that what you’re trying to do?” said a protester responding to a student who jokingly asked if it was a filibuster.
Conor Beck of the Washington Free Beacon has more:
“I don’t know why you’re still, like, sitting down, y’all. I don’t understand. I really don’t understand. Y’all can take your f—ing test, but people are dying out there,” another protestor said before then accusing students of supporting white supremacy.
Professor Shaiken offered to continue the conversation outside, but the protesters refused and said were going to the Department of Ethnic Studies to complain, an action Shaiken said they were “more than welcome to do.”

In short, a white professor wants them to take their midterms in the same manner as practically every other professor in the nation wants, and thus he’s wrong because he’s “white.”
Frankly, Shaiken was right to refuse their demands.
If these students are taking a class on labor issues in the U.S. and Mexico, it means this probably isn’t their first college class. By now they know that midterms are the norm in many classes throughout the college. They know how this works.
Instead, they’re trying to bully him because he’s a white man teaching on a somewhat ethnic topic. They’re demanding he “check his privilege” because they expect the white man to capitulate to their insane demands, and the fact that he won’t is taken as proof of his racism.
There’s not much I could add to that. It’s spot on.

My ex, a black woman, taught at university for one year. She flunked students (white students, and this was back in 2000) for not showing up for class and not turning in assignments. The students’ parents complained and the dean backed them up! My wife quit.
The guy’s a teacher of social and cultural studies, meaning this class is at best one of those touchy-feely courses. A handmaiden of “social justice.”
Don’t see this sort of nonsense going on with courses in business or the hard-sciences.

I don’t think I’ve never seen an account of one of these protests in a class like, say, Introduction to Lagrangian and Hamiltonian mechanics.
Perhaps anyone signing up for a class like that knows there’s a skull-crushing amount of material to cover and only one term to cover it in; no time available to waste on whiny stuff.

HEY! A ‘free ride’ is a free ride! Consider that they’re just hitch-hiking through life trying to stay out of the ditch. Ditches make horrible places to sleep or live.

This are protesting in lieu of the conventional excuse: “the dog ate my homework”.
I wonder how many people better qualified were rejected entrance to the school because of diversity (i.e. racist) policies.

The professor’s mistake here was even being willing to engage these morons. He should have asked them to leave the moment they started disrupting things and if they refused called campus security. “This is not the time nor the place for this, you are wasting the money of the rest of the students here who have paid for an education. Leave now or I will have security remove you. The mid-term will be given as always you can either attend, take the test, and receive the grade you earn or you can not attend and receive the grade you earn. This is your last chance to either leave or sit down and be quiet. If I have you removed you will fail this course.”
This prof may not have done what you suggest because the school administration may have ordered the campus police to stand down and let the classroom/campus disruptors have their way.
This has already happened at several other colleges and universities such as Evergreen and Mizzou. As a matter of fact it has already happened at UC Berkeley if you recall the riots antifa et al launched to shut down conservative speakers, and both the UCB police chief and the City of Berkeley police chief told their officers to stay in their patrol cars.
The manner in which he responded to their silliness seems more sympathy than anything else.

That midterms are killing minority students? (Don’t know how I missed that when I was in college. The bodies must be piling up.)
That fellow classmates are somehow complicit in genocide because they are taking their own midterms? (I took lots of midterms, am I also guilty?)
That minority students cannot handle midterms due to the fact that they are minorities? (Good heavens, imagine if a white person said that.)
It seems to be a mishmash of those things but they aren’t particularly clear about it.
Boy, I should have thought of those excuses whenever I had to take a midterm… Silly me! Why didn’t I think of it?

This is pure corruption by these students. They were shown the deal at an early age: act infantile – but vote left – and we’ll enable your infantileness into your adulthood.
In other words, these students sold their and their nation’s souls for an apparently easy, but dishonest life.
The future of America is a disintegration of the Union: Trump voters will not want to governed by the corrupt dumbasses being produced by America’s leftist educational system.
When all is said and done, and the Trump-America forms its own nation, the Trump nation will look like America, and the ‘Kalifornia’ nation will look like East Germany.

I must admit, I take a little pleasure in watching these liberal professors get a taste of what they’re pushing on the world.
I just don’t get how they think that sort of behavior is appropriate. Hard to see a rosy future with people like that in charge.
Proposition:
1. Special hospital wherein the entire staff –from surgery room sanitization staff to hospital director, from nurse’s aid to chief surgeon — consist of those who never had to take any exams nor demonstrate any medical knowledge or proficiency whatsoever.
2. Every one of these mind-numbed protesters be required to receive all of their medical treatment, from aspirin to critical surgery, at said hospital and nowhere else.
(Old joke: (Q) What do they call the person who graduates in last place in medical school? (A) Doctor.
