NBC Fires Staffer Who Allegedly Leaked Video of an Amazing Lawrence O’Donnell Meltdown

A few weeks ago, Mediaite published a leaked video of MSNBC host Lawrence O’Donnell have the meltdown of all meltdowns.

In the video, O’Donnell slammed his fists on the desk repeatedly and unfurled a profanity-laced tirade at the production staff for not properly dealing with a hammering noise coming from somewhere in the building. O’Donnell was not appreciative of having someone else’s happy hour plans discussed in his ear piece during segments either, or what he called “insanity in my earpiece”.

WARNING: Hilarious, but probably not suitable for work language

Shortly after the leaked video reached viral fame, O’Donnell issued a tweet apologizing:

Conspiracy theories over who leaked the video have been bouncing around the internet since these last few weeks, thought to his credit, O’Donnell said the only person deserving of blame is himself for how he behaved.

But Monday, NBC fired the ‘Today’ editor responsible for leaking O’Donnell’s meltdown to Mediaite. From Page Six:

One source said, “The video of Lawrence O’Donnell was leaked on Sept. 20. The leaker was identified, confronted and fired on Sept. 26. It turned out to be a ‘Today’ show editor who said he did it because he thought it was funny. But it wasn’t exactly the perfect crime — he left a very clear trail.”Sources connected with the leak had told Page Six the video was slipped to Mediaite as a broadcast-quality digital clip — and that only a handful of people are believed to be capable of accessing and transmitting such a file. We’re now told that the leaker, whose name has not been released, had left a clear digital trail that allowed NBC honchos to track him down. NBC declined to comment.

O’Donnell’s latest rant might have replaced my (now) former favorite Lawrence rant — the time O’Donnell went crazy on Tagg Romney, challenging him to a street fight complete with fabulous faux Southie accent:
