Democrats have a big problem in 2020. Their bench features only two types of candidates, senior citizens with name recognition and younger candidates who are largely unknown. Politically, they run the gamut from left to further left.

They’d also all be in their 70s, people who’ve been around forever for Trump to use as perfect foils for exactly what he stands against.Then there’s everyone else looking at a White House run who could embody a new start, separate from the Washington and political establishment that repel voters. But they’re virtually unknown, and they’d be running against the most famous man in the world who’s proved he can dominate every news cycle.If only, Democrats say, there was some person under 55 who had any profile.“That person doesn’t exist,” said Howard Dean, the 2004 presidential candidate and former Democratic National Committee chair.
John Sexton of Hot Air notes the ages of the older candidates:
The two people who probably are first in line to run are Biden and Sanders. Biden would be 77 in 2020 and, if he won, would turn 78 before he was inaugurated. Speaking of a possible Biden run, unnamed Democrats tell Politico, “it’s not what we need right now.” Sanders, the other person with the most claim to be on the ticket, will be 79 on election day in 2020. Elizabeth Warren would be a relatively spry 71 years old on election day.
On the younger side, California Senator Kamala Harris is already showing signs of her intent to run. She’s also aligning herself with Bernie Sanders. She just announced that she will co-sponsor his “Medicare for all” legislation.

Bernie Sanders’s (I-Vt.) “Medicare for All” bill, which would institute a single-payer health insurance system.”I intend to co-sponsor the ‘Medicare for All’ bill because it’s just the right thing to do,” Harris announced Wednesday at a town hall in Oakland.”It’s not just about what is morally and ethically right, it also makes sense just from a fiscal standpoint,” she said.The decision to co-sponsor Sanders’s bill is Harris’s first instance of publicly supporting single-payer.In July, Harris said she supported single-payer “as a concept” but that lawmakers still needed to “work out the details.”Sanders said earlier this week that he was building support for his “Medicare for All” bill.
Harris is also pushing the left’s concept of healthcare as a right.
It’s funny how a party that constantly questions the limits of the First and Second Amendments, believes healthcare is a right.
