Last night, Professor Jacobson pointed out that the shooting in Virginia yesterday has been in the works for a long time. Our political climate is like a powder keg and people on the left have been whipped up into a frenzy.
That might explain why Trump’s Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos requires so much security. When was the last time that a person in this role required such protection? Do people on the left who despise DeVos even know who was Education Secretary under Obama?

The cost of Betsy DeVos’s security detail — nearly $8 million over nearly 8 monthsFederal marshals are protecting Education Secretary Betsy DeVos at a cost to her agency of nearly $8 million over nearly eight months, according to the U.S. Marshals Service.The Education Department has agreed to reimburse the marshals $7.78 million for their services from mid-February to the end of September, said a marshals spokeswoman — an average of about $1 million per month.Marshals will continue providing security for the education secretary for the next four years, or until either agency decides to terminate the arrangement, under an agreement signed last week. There was no information immediately available about what that would cost beyond September.While the department is spending the additional money on DeVos’s security, members of the in-house security team that guarded previous secretaries remain on the payroll. But they are not guarding DeVos and have not been assigned new duties, said a department employee who was not authorized to speak to a reporter and asked for anonymity.A department spokesman, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said he could not comment on personnel decisions. He said the agency deferred to the federal marshals’ threat assessment and determination about what would be necessary to keep the secretary safe and able to do her job.

As a result of the shooting Wednesday, Republicans are expected to increase security at town hall meetings.

Immediately it brings town halls to mind too,” Brat told CNN’s Wolf Blitzer.“You’ve got 1,000 folks, people that want to give you their views as constituents, etc., but the security thing now is going to be ramped up to a new level. If it takes just one person that’s just off the rails on a certain day, it’s just not good.”Lawmakers, particularly Republicans, have faced rowdy town halls in recent months as the GOP works on its plan to repeal and replace ObamaCare.
The unhinged left is not interested in a debate about policy. They are trying to end this administration and they’re using increasingly dangerous methods to achieve their goal.
