With Europe in the grip of Jihadi terrorism and an ever-worsening migrant crisis, German Chancellor Angela Merkel wants to isolate Germany and take rest of the Europe with her.
“The times in which we could completely depend on others are on the way out. I have experienced that in the last few days,” Chancellor Merkel said at an election rally in the city of Munich. “We Europeans must really take our destiny in our own hands.”
Chancellor Merkel’s defiant talk was “applauded by 2,000 listeners” present in a Munich beer tent, local media reported.
“Merkel doesn’t consider the U.S. a reliable partner anymore,” wrote the German newspaper Die Welt. Merkel “has no confidence in transatlantic relationship writes Munich’s Sueddeutsche Zeitung.
The U.S. president’s non-committal stance on ‘Climate Change’ was reportedly the deal-breaker for Chancellor Merkel. According to the German media reports, Chancellor Merkel had been irked by Trump’s defiance on the issue. She regards ‘Climate Change’ central to her internationalist agenda, referring to the last year’s Paris Agreement as the “key agreement that shapes today’s globalization.”
At the G7 summit—a meeting of the world’s most industrialised nations—held in the Italian city of Sicily, “the group of six [world leaders] fruitlessly tried to convince the U.S. President Donald Trump of the opportunities of a committed Climate Change Policy,” Süddeutsche Zeitung reported.
While the Obama administration, much like the E.U., was the leading backer of ‘Climate Change’ on the world stage. President Trump apparently has little interest in carrying along his predecessor’s ideological baggage.

The German political establishment sees President Trump as an obstacle on the way towards their progressive utopia. “Trump blocks progress at G7 summit,” reported the German public broadcaster Deutsche Welle following the two-day summit.
Now with pro-EU French President Emmanuel Macron on her side and her growing lead in national polls ahead of the September parliamentary election, Chancellor Merkel feels she can take on the U.S. President and rally continental Europe behind her.
