Princeton Suspends Men’s Swim Team Season Over Locker Room Talk

“simply unacceptable”

This is a thing now. Men’s sports teams are being punished at various schools in this same scenario.

The Daily Caller reports:

Princeton Swim Team Has Season Canceled Over Locker Room Talk

Princeton University suspended its men’s swimming program for the rest of the season after the discovery of internal team emails the school described as “racist,” “misogynistic,” and “offensive.”

The emails in question were part of a school-sponsored email listserv used by members of the men’s swimming and diving team. The school isn’t revealing what was said in the emails, though it did indicate many of the comments were about members of the women’s swim team.

“We make clear to all of our student-athletes that they represent Princeton University at all times, on and off the playing surface and in and out of season, and we expect appropriate, respectful conduct from them at all times,” Princeton athletic director Mollie Marcoux Samaan said in a statement. “The behavior that we have learned about is simply unacceptable. It is antithetical to the values of our athletic program and of the University, and will not be tolerated.”

I am old enough to remember when Penn and Cornell were the only coed Ivies. I said then, when they started letting women into Yale and Princeton and the rest, that no good could possibly come from it. And whaddya know. QED
