Chicago has achieved a unique distinction: the city has already had more murders this year than New York and Los Angeles combined.
Chicago hit 500 homicides the other day, with more killings this year than in New York and Los Angeles combined. So the magic number made national and international news.Even the BBC dropped in to tell the tale of Chicago violence, of nihilistic feral boys, brandishing their guns in cars, waving their death sticks in rap videos, young African-American men who believe they have no future, waiting to die.But the number 500 isn’t special. All it tells us is that Chicago has surpassed the number of last year’s dead at the beginning of September.
According to the Chicago Tribune, 2,949 people have been shot so far this year in Chicago. This reflects a nationwide trend: murder rates are up in a quarter of U. S. cities.
I’ll leave it to you to determine how many are run by Democrats and have strict gun laws.
