Trump Celebrates Cinco de Mayo With a Taco Bowl

“I love Hispanics!”

Happy Cinco de Mayo! Today, white people everywhere will drink generic Mexican beer and have no clue what they’re celebrating.

Historically, the day is a celebration of the Mexican army’s defeat of French forces in the Battle of Puebla during the Franco-Mexican War in 1862. Over the years the Americanized version is more a celebration of Mexican culture than anything else.

Meanwhile in New York, presumptive Republican nominee, Donald Trump, is celebrating the day with a Trump Tower taco bowl.

Trump posted a pic of himself digging into a fancy taco salad-type dish, giving a thumbs up, with a caption that read: “Happy Cinco de Mayo! The best taco bowls are made in Trump Tower Grill. I love Hispanics!”

He loves Hispanics! And tacos!

Sadly, Trump Tower says they don’t serve these delicious taco bowls:

Nachos, anyone?

Many establishments don’t list their entire menu “online”.

Nice try!!

Missed the tweet embedded in the article that says, “Just got off phone with Trump Grill, says they don’t serve taco bowls. It’s not on the menu online.” Eh?

Maybe they don’t give out he menu on the phone either, though, right?

    Nice try, indeed.

It can’t be that TheDonald® is pandering to a traditional Democrat voting bloc, is it? No way, perish the thought. (I bet the person who answered at the Trump Grill that they didn’t serve them is now looking for a new job!)

A handy guide for the upcoming election: If anyone can do it, TheDonald® does it better (or the best) and that goes for everything, from passing a kidney stone to taco bowls!

Maybe he actually likes taco bowls. Or are you charging Trump with Cultural Appropriation®?

Zachary in reply to tom swift. | May 5, 2016 at 4:22 pm

      Yes, we SJW are!

Perhaps it’s more the fact that he had to pretend it was from his restaurant, which is of course the best, because it’s from him. Kinda the point of the article and this post.

Dang Tom do you wear Trump eyeglasses or contact lenses or something?

It would not be the first time a politician attempted to woo a political class, and you can put money on the fact that it will not be the last.

Americans have a long and storied tradition of stealing other nation’s long and storied holidays and turning them into drinking holidays…just ask the Irish. As Cinco de Mayo is a celebration of Mexico spanking France, I nominate Bastille Day where we drink wine and celebrate France spanking themselves (how French of them)!

tom swift in reply to buckeyeminuteman. | May 5, 2016 at 4:02 pm

Those rascally Yanks even stole an English drinking song and turned it into a national anthem.

malclave in reply to tom swift. | May 5, 2016 at 5:33 pm

And changed the words of “God Save the King/ Queen” to “My Country ‘Tis of Thee”.

Milhouse in reply to malclave. | May 5, 2016 at 7:30 pm

Well, that’s OK because the English stole that tune from the Germans.

Oh, and To Anacreon in Heaven wasn’t a drinking song, it was the anthem of the Anacreontic Society, a club devoted to music and fun. They would sing it after dinner, before the serious drinking started.

I prefer to think we’re joining in to help celebrate with them on their diversity of culture.
I also notice his taco salad has a “WALL” around it….. 🙂

Humphrey's Executor | May 5, 2016 at 3:58 pm

His office looks like a working office. Not a lot of ornamentation like you’d expect.

Look again. The credenza by the window is so stuffed with vanity photos that he’s got more vanity photos sitting on the floor. Probably a lot of selfies and pictures of him with progressive “leaders” that he paid off because “that’s how business is done.”?

And, as usual, Trump dominates the news without even having to get out of his chair.

I wonder what Hillary had for lunch on Cinco de Mayo. With her tin ear, she probably had french fries.

persecutor | May 5, 2016 at 4:00 pm

I have no doubt he loves Hispanics–after all they do such a fantastic job on his landscaping, his housekeeping staff and of course, his cabana boys.

WHINE ALL YOU WANT
about Trump.

PICK ONE: Trump or Clinton.

TWO QUESTIONS FIRST:

1) which candidate, Trump or Hillary, do you think will defend/promore your conservative issues more?

2) which candidate, Trump or Hillary, do you think will crush/censor your conservative issues more?

Oh yeah…Gary Johnson “libertarian”…YOU WANT THIS?!?

Gov. Gary Johnson recognizes that the right of a woman to choose is the law of the land today, and has been for several decades. That right must be respected, and ultimately he believes this is a very personal and individual decision. He feels that each woman must be allowed to make decisions about her own health and well-being.
Further, Gov. Johnson feels strongly that women seeking to exercise their legal right must not be subjected to persecution or denied access to health services by politicians in Washington or elsewhere who are insistent on politicizing such an intensely personal and serious issue.

-Is the climate changing? Probably so. Is man contributing to that change? Probably so.

-On immigration, he understands that a robust flow of labor, regulated not by politics, but by the marketplace, is essential. He understands that a bigger fence will only produce taller ladders and deeper tunnels, and that the flow of illegal immigrants across the border is not a consequence of too little security, but rather a legal immigration system that simply doesn’t work. Militarizing the border, bigger fences, and other punitive measures espoused by too many politicians are all simplistic “solutions” to a problem caused by artificial quotas, bureaucratic incompetence and the shameful failure of Congress to actually put in place an immigration system that matches reality. Governor Johnson has long advocated a simplified and secure system of work visas by which willing workers and willing employers can meet in a robust labor marketplace efficiently and economically. Aspiring immigrants would undergo a background check, pay taxes and provide proof of employment. Making it simpler and efficient to enter the U.S. legally will provide the greatest security possible, allowing law enforcement to focus its time and resources on the criminals and bad actors who are, in reality, a relatively small portion of those who are today entering the country illegally.

-How is it that the United States, the land of the free, has one of the highest incarceration rates in the world?
The answer is simple: Over time, the politicians have “criminalized” far too many aspects of people’s personal lives. …we have too many unnecessary laws, have produced a society with too many people in our prisons and jails, too many undeserving individuals saddled with criminal records, and a seriously frayed relationship between law enforcement and those they serve.

Oh, whatever. I know he’s basically a liberal. But he’s basically descent. Better than the major party candidates, anyway. For a protest vote this will work.

Just realize that “L”ibertarians cannot organize a two car funeral procession and will win exactly ZERO electoral college votes. “L”ibertarians are all about pounding themselves on the back for being so holier-than-thou on issues they think people should care about and signaling their virtue since they are better than everyone else.

don’t know if the grill and cafe are 2 fully distinct entities or if they share common grounds

fwiffo in reply to dmacleo. | May 5, 2016 at 6:16 pm

Apparently, different. Here is an overview of food in Trump tower, including this bit on the food in question:

      http://ny.eater.com/2016/1/21/10809092/nyc-donald-trump-restuarant

“On the same pass I also ordered “beef tacos” ($13.50) which turned out to be a fried tortilla bowl heaped with romaine lettuce, grated yellow cheese, and plain ground beef that was so devoid of flavor, it rendered an insult to Mexicans every bit as profound as Trumps previous pronouncements”

Fun fact: individuals who don’t drink a glass of margarita on May 5 will turn orange.

MaggotAtBroadAndWall | May 5, 2016 at 5:51 pm

Kinda disappointed in the lack of effort involved in this pander.

If he really wants Hispanics to think he loves them, why not hire a three piece mariachi band to stand behind him and serenade him with “La Bamba” while he pretends to eat Mexican food? At the very least make Ben Carson chug a bottle of Jose Cuervo while wearing a fake mustache and a sombrero.

I want a taco bowel, with a Coke, and a Gelato for dessert.

Tomorrow, I want a hamburger, with a Coke, and a Gelato for dessert.

After that, it’s New York Strip steaks all around… with a Merlot, and probably a Gelato for dessert.

Free State Paul | May 5, 2016 at 6:19 pm

I’m looking forward to visiting this site every day to bathe in the tears of #NeverTrump.

Cool plan, brah.

If this battle occurred 50 years after Mexico’s Independence Day, which is celebrated on September 16, why don’t we Americans celebrate the Battle of New Orleans as well as the 4th of July?

Fiftycaltx | May 5, 2016 at 7:28 pm

Ein REICH! Ein VOLK! Ein HILLARY! Uniparty uber alles!

Fiftycaltx | May 5, 2016 at 7:29 pm

I should have added Ein Sex!

    Except you. And me.

But it won’t phase Trump fans one bit.

And me too! I’m the “condescending” one.

And yeah, it was highfalutin of me to question the thinking of Trump supporters.

It was simply pretentious of me to prod them to find out what in the world they are thinking by supporting Trump. And when they did respond, the response effectively was, “Wall” “Make America Great Again” “Lyin’ Ted” and “I am angry at the “Establishment” and “Now I’m angry that you question me about my faith in Trump. It’s settled science. Trump makes me feel good about myself once again. Trump will tear down the Establishment. Just you wait and see!”

I just bristle at the thought of the “well thought out” Trump support going to elect a pro-Establishment candidate who, as this is being written, is being “employed” by the Ruling Class apparatchik to increase Progressivism.

Count me in as well……as he said, he knows those Goldman Sachs boys. No surprise with the Soros connection either.

¡ Nunca el Trumpo !

Taco-gate.

Is Donald eating Teds lunch again?

Cruz is out, Trump won. There’s little less attractive than a sore winner.

Barry in reply to Fuzzy Slippers. | May 6, 2016 at 1:21 am

Well, excepting the sore losers 🙂

What on earth are you talking about? Where am I being a sore loser?

Gloating is poor sportsmanship. Everyone knows that. Except, apparently, you and murkyv.

What you hope to gain by attacking me after your candidate has already effectively won the nomination is beyond me. All I see is pettiness and mean-spirited vindictiveness. If you think that you are representing your candidate well, you are sorely mistaken. Trump has the nomination wrapped up in a bow, yet oddly, Trump fans are Trump’s worst enemy at this point.

Uh, the little smiley at the end was supposed to signify that the comment was said jokingly. Perhaps you are just too serious at times to notice.

Since in your comments to me, you always include me as whatever it is you think a typical trump supporter is, why should I not include you as one of the typical sore losers? But that was not my intent here, it was supposed to be with a “wink”.

The original comment from murk “Is Donald eating Teds lunch again?” could easily be taken as a joke, but you cannot see that.

This whole damn posting is a joke. Trump ate a taco bowl and LI is reporting it did not come from where he said it did. Wow! What news! Proof that trump is a liar!

Except the taco bowl came from a restaurant in trump towers.

How silly all of you are. And bizarre.

The stupidity of this post…. worst than the crap the lefty’s post! 🙁
