OPM Director resigns, CNN blames Republicans

OPM Director resigns, CNN blames Republicans

Archuleta is out

Friday, Office of Personnel Management Director Katherine Archuleta resigned from her post. Her resignation comes after weeks of Congressional hearings over the massive data breach that exposed the personal information (including social security numbers) of more than 21 million people at last count.

Archuleta went to the White House where she resigned in person, according to the New York Times. The NYT also reported the deputy director of management at the Office of Management and Budget, Beth Cobert will step in to temporarily.

As recently as a few weeks ago, Archuleta was blaming the massive hack attack on “legacy systems.” Forbes reported:

Amidst the fallout and despite calls for her resignation, OPM Director Katherine Archuleta claimed Tuesday that no one was “personally responsible” for the OPM breach at a Senate hearing of the Financial Services and General Government subcommittee.

“This is decades of lack of investments in the systems we inherited. We have legacy systems that are very old. If there’s anyone to blame, it’s the perpetrators,” Archuleta said. “I don’t believe anyone is personally responsible for OPM breach. I’m angry that this has happened to OPM, and I’m moving as quickly as I can to protect OPM systems.”

Archuleta’s statement of resignation:

Meanwhile, CNN responded by blaming Republicans for their failure to vet Archuleta.

“Aides to Republican lawmakers who voted for her confirmation now acknowledge they didn’t pay enough attention to the importance of technology in the agency Archuleta was taking over,” wrote CNN.

Right, because it’s totally the Republican’s fault Obama Fan Girl #1 sucked at her job.

Appointed Director of the OPM in 2013, Archuleta stepped into the role of OPM director after serving as national political director for President Obama’s re-election campaign. Gee, it’s almost like we’ve seen this story before. Community organizer turned government official turns out to be severely under qualified.

Inability to own their actions is one of the hallmarks of modern progressives and the media that adores them.

45 Republicans were in the Senate the day Ms. Archuleta was confirmed.

10 voted yes.

35 voted no.

55 Democrats in the Senate that day all voted yes.

How on earth is this a ‘Republican’ problem?

And Obama nominated her for the job. Don’t forget that part. He could have chosen someone with knowledge and experience in managing large government departments with vulnerable computer systems. But Obama didn’t bother to choose someone who was actually qualified for the job. Instead, he nominated a clueless political hack with no background in computer security.

But yeah, clearly that’s the fault of the 10 Republicans who voted to confirm Obama’s pick, and not the fault of Obama himself (or the 55 Democrats who backed him up).

    Ohhhhh, yeah…

A nice Harry Reid and race-baiting connection here, too.

    What a wise Latina…

Come on. You know that anything that goes wrong is the Repub’s fault.

It cannot be the fault of the Dems. The Dems are always looking out for the best interest of the people and everything they do comes up rainbows and unicorns.

Okay, maybe his isn’t a good thing for me to say but, the people that had their info stolen…they’re all Fed employees, right? I’m trying sooooo hard to care, but, it’s a struggle…did anybody get Obama’s SS#?

Typical Liberal…refuses to accept responsibility for their actions.

Welp, there are her top seven priorities.

Number two (there’s a pun in there somewhere) is “diversity”.

I wonder how many really “diverse” Federal employees are being groomed by foreign agents on account of their “diversity”…???

Are you ready to give your medical data to the “top men” who will handle its security?

Not this lil’ gray duck…

What an incompetent bimbo… And that’s just Hillary Clinton. We can just imagine the criteria under which this other bimbo Archuleta was chosen for the post Obama stuck her in.

So when is Obama resigning?

And why NOT blame Republicans for this? After all, they’re ball-less fools would who couldn’t figure out how to answer an insult if they had Don Rickles coaching them. That idiot Karl Rove is probably still advising them not to respond to insane accusations. A bare ass hanging in the air will be ****ed, and the morons running the GOP have a boatload of them out there.

And “Romney being right about everything” – come on. WE were right about everything. Romney was a lousy candidate because he was a lousy. Like the proverbial clock stopped at 6:30, he’s was at least right twice, but was so concerned with covering his balls in fear that he could never figure anything what else to do with his hands.

The GOP is toast. Maybe it will be Trump who sends it a grave next to the Whig party’s, and a new conservative party unpolluted by the likes of Boehner/Prebus/McConnell will rule the day.
