During my visit to the Reagan Ranch, we also made a tour of the Reagan Ranch Center in Santa Barbara. Both are run by Young America’s Foundation.
On display was the jeep used by President Reagan on the ranch, including when he gave a tour to Mikhail Gorbachev in 1992.
There also was on display a section of the Berlin Wall, next to a video of Reagan’s famous “Tear Down This Wall” speech.
One of the most humorous, in hindsight, displays was a video compilation of all the nasty things said about Reagan at the time.
Nothing has changed.

Brad Meltzer of the NYT was on Lou Dobbs last night promoting his new book, “The President’s Shadow”.
Dobbs asked if Meltzer had any interesting facts about Reagan. Meltzer mentioned that Reagan carried a .38 in his brief case after (and maybe before) he was shot by Hinckley, Jr.
Reagan was packing-in lawful fashion-for self-protection even under the most rigorous of security protocol.
Rick Perry packs iron too. A 9mm I believe.
Governor Christie carries a paint ball gun, if I recall correctly.
And a dozen donuts.
I’m trying to picture Obama driving a Scrambler…. Nope…. not seeing it.
“He is the most dangerous person to ever come this close to the Presidency…he is a menace to the human race.”
Someone was just a few Presidents too early.
