Today’s college students apparently cannot endure exposure to thoughts or ideas that might conflict with their existing world view. These precious snowflakes need trigger warnings and safe spaces to protect their delicate sensibilities from anything they may find insulting, wrong-headed, harmful, confusing, or otherwise thought-provoking.
Thinking, of course, is the real enemy because it means being open-minded and willing to listen to and engage opposing views in what we quaintly used to call rigorous intellectual debate.
Enter the hilarious parody: Safe Space University, “where we pretend differing opinions simply don’t exist”:

Most college students today have been trained to think through supplied concepts instead of drawing together concepts from a body of factual knowledge. This cultivated worldview and shift in the emphasis of K-12 education is both inflexible and fragile. It’s not grounded in facts, which is why the students mind criticisms a great deal ANS using it and filtering experience through it began for many college students in kindergarten. Many are the product of outcomes based education that never actually went away.
There is actually a name for training students to think conceptually instead of from facts. It’s called Ascending from the Abstract to the Concrete and was originally developed in the USSR as a way to guide the thinking of citizens’ without such controls being apparent. It completely permeates the actual implementation of the Common Core and its successor–Competency-based education.
Safe Space University has a sibling in K-12–the requirements of a Positive School Climate, requirements to reach shared meanings in classroom discussions, and finally affirmative obligations in little read student handbooks not to offend other students’ beliefs. Affirmative Codes of Conduct are all the rage now in K-12. They will this expect higher ed to be comparable.
It would seem that the collapse of Communism was a myth….. While many of celebrated its demise, the Communists laughed, and went underground.
I have a book Credentialed to Destroy: How and Why Education Became a Weapon that lays out the evidence for that. I was rather shocked but the evidence is just overwhelming. Education is the way to change the West.
Same with the German emotionalist-mystic-irrationalist philosophy of the Weimar Republic that led to WWII. America has almost completely adopted everything the Germans believed in back then.
“Ascending from the Abstract to the Concrete…” Isn’t that backwards? Humans look at various concretes and then form concepts which encompass the concretes. Isn’t that correct?
Excellent mocking of the most deserving cultural trend in a generation. The real alarming part is that the swelling ranks of college administrators feel no shame (pun intended). I wonder if this video could be banned from safe spaces….

Actually, it is a tactic to shut down any speech that is not approved, because “hurt feelings” – e.g faux “safety concerns.”
I just listened to yesterday’s Dan Bongino’s podcast which focused on this very thing.

And although no one wants to hear this, it’s been mostly women invoking this. And if not done by an actual women, done by a knowing surrogate (mostly probably trying to “prove” how sensitive they are so as to get in some honey’s panties. Hey it worked in the ’60’s!)
And if for some reason (ahem) the gender isn’t clear you’re guaranteed it’s a liberal with a fascist like agenda pulling the strings somewhere.

The white male Christian conservative students could show up some of the leftist hate speeches, with signs about how they feel threatened.
But they are too busy studying eight hours a day after six hours of classes, so they as engineers can go design incredible things that make our lives better in the real world. But SSU probably doesn’t have an engineering department.
These kids have been told there is only one truth and they hold it – they are always right. That’s why hearing something different is taken as an assault and must not be tolerated. Since ends justify means in libland, they may be prompted to do just about anything. Pure indoctrination.
Basically, they’ve lost the capacity for empathy for more than half the US population. Empathy for only your own kind is not empathy at all. It’s tribalism. This is a horrible thing to do to a teenager arriving on campus, to remove their ability to consider the situations, beliefs, opinions, etc., of others if they differ from their own. It’s more than just political indoctrination. This stuff can cause considerable emotional impairment and psychological damage.
Most of them will leave school in a few years and the cold hammer of social physics comes down – this shit ain’t gonna fly in the real world. Employers, neighbors, family, etc., aren’t going to coddle them for long, most not at all. Human Resources doesn’t want someone who will be filing constant complaints about their work environment. Neighbors will not give a damn if they are offended by the neighbor’s American flag. Mommy and daddy upstairs have jobs and bills and will rapidly grow resentful over their princess’s long list of conditions. The real world will rough ’em up good. Adapt or fail. Most will adapt in time.

Well, I recognize the pic of Safe Space University as the famous steps at Columbia.. I remember them well. Step sitting was an art. Thanks for the memories. Anyway, I can only wonder about the students there today. Back in the day, no one worried about trigger warnings when the university had a showing of Deep Throat! No one tried to replace that with a Disney movie. SMH
