How long before Bill Maher banned on campus?

How long before Bill Maher banned on campus?

While we may defend his right to speak, must we also give him a tenured position?

Because of this:

(language warning – NSFW)

and this:

Who will defend his freedom of speech, or the academic freedom of those who want to hear him on campus?

If Ayaan Hirsi Ali is banned, and Ann Coulter’s sponsors scared away, and someone who questions dogma on campus assault drowned out, what’s next? (via Instapundit)

If we are willing to defend his right to speak and people to invite him and hear his speech, does that mean we also have to give him a tenured position on the faculty?

Okay, funny boy – let’s see you replace Jesus with Mohammed and pull the same crap. How long do you think you’ll be able to keep your head – literally?

Maher thinks he’s so hip and tough, but he would need a king-sized Depends if he were ever to subject Islam to ridicule like he does Christianity. He has an extremely small mind ~

He did subject Islam to ridicule and scorn, lots of it. Didn’t you watch the videos?

I don’t like him most of the time, he’s a pain in the ass jerk, as is his annoyingly pompous girlfriend and her censorious HuffPost, whose religion is Political Correctness gone berserk — But he nailed Islam as a vicious violent religion whose beliefs contaminate it’s believers. Which it is.

Even a broke clock as they say can be right twice a day; and on this topic he’s right on target.

And with the broken clock metaphor, he’s also a defender of Israel — that’s what he was taking flack for from the Left.

Well, I guess I missed it. Did Maher put up a picture of a kid humping a statue of Mohammed (or even an effigy, I’m not picky), pretending that Mohammed is performing fellatio on him?

Nah, Maher wouldn’t go that far – because he is a feckless idiot. Much safer for him to blaspheme the Christian God ~

Well, I agree he’s mostly an idiot, but you got it wrong, twice. Maher started the rant against Islam in the first video above by saying the kid would have shown real cajones (I paraphrase) if he mounted a statute of Mohammed. Then explained that would be impossible because Islam doesn’t allow effigies of their prophet, and kills people who make them.

And if showing that photo of the kid with his crotch against the statute of what is supposed to be Jesus’ likeness (no one really knows what he looked like course) why don’t you accuse Jacobson of fecklessly blaspheming by posting it twice, at the top of this page?

The organizers of the Law & Disorder Conference threaten to call the cops, to restore order.

Self-awareness takes a big hit!

Chanting leftists are like fingernails down a blackboard.

From my perspective, that describes both the Left and the Right — two sides of the same irrational coin. Idiots on the Left; idiots on the Right; and here were are, bombarded by idiocy at both ends.

Bill Maher and his kind genuinely want a world where they can be perpetual juvenile delinquents, and that’s not considered a bad thing.

As I understand it, he’s got no kids. It’s okay, I suppose, to be an obscene prankster who’s fallen victim to arrested development; but you can hardly have a functioning world with nothing but them.

Remarkably, NO ONE here seems to bat an eye at a kid going to jail for goofing off with a statute. Why is that?

Henry Hawkins in reply to Tex Detroit. | September 29, 2014 at 12:42 pm

Maybe because many/most here are lawyers who know the kid won’t do one day, and that people cite the maximum penalty as if he’ll receive it just to be hyperbolic?

The kid won’t do a day in jail. Desecrating religious icons and images is old hat.

Bill Maher scores no points for pointing out the obvious about Islamic law and order, where a mere cartoon image of Muhammad or not wearing the right clothing can get you killed. The left gets no points for acknowledging the obvious, as when Maher’s audience applauds his statements of the obvious. That is what is remarkable – that it takes so much and so long for leftists to recognize and acknowledge the obvious.

“Remarkably?” You’re a fucking idiot. Obviously.

Hell, I’ll support his right to free speech, and people’s right to engage him as a public or event speaker.

If his antics turn off too many people and he doesn’t get offered any speaking engagements, I equally support people’s right to NOT hire him as a speaker, or associate with him in any way.

He can say whatever he wants, however offensive. But he’ll reap the consequences of his speech, and will have no one to blame but himself.
