Gaza war: Not much of a ceasefire (Live Updates and Video)

Islamic Jihad misfired long range rocket reportedly hits Gaza’s main hospital.

Live Video and Twitter feed at bottom of post

Last night the United Nations Security Council issued a Presidential Statement (less than a Resolution) demanding an immediate Gaza ceasefire.

Hamas kept firing missiles, and Israel now is responding. Israel has rejected a ceasefire that does not include security guarantees.

A devastating critique of John Kerry’s botched ceasefire attempt, from left-wing Israeli author Ari Shavit:

If Israel is forced to ultimately undertake an expanded ground operation in which dozens of young Israelis and hundreds of Palestinian civilians could lose their lives, it would be appropriate to name the offensive after the person who caused it: John Kerry. But if the escalation does not happen, instead we should remember that those who prevented it are three people the Obama administration loathes: Abdel-Fattah al-Sissi, Benjamin Netanyahu and Moshe Ya’alon.

There was an explosion at Shifa Hospital (used by Hamas as a safe haven) which immediately was blamed on Israel, but now appears likely to have been a Hamas rocket misfire.

We will update as the day goes on.

CBS News apparently wanted to show fires burning in Gaza, but instead showed lights shining in Tel Aviv:

As in prior conflicts, the “civilian” death toll is overstated:

As Jewish diseases go, Max Blumenthal makes Tay-Sachs look like the sniffles.

I’ve heard of “Jews for Jesus,” but “Jews for Jihad”?

Hamas, killing its own people for photo ops, because the Israelis refuse to do it for them.

NOBODY in their right mind…without an evil motive…would call for a cease fire while terror tunnels remain and the terrorists who built them remain unkilled.

I know how harsh this sounds, but what will end the violence in Gaza is when the Israelis have finally had enough and drive them completely from the Gaza strip and take it over completely. Nothing short of that will amount to more than a momentary lull in the continuing battle.

It seems like a bad day there all around. Is it me or does the twitter-feed make it seem worse — multiple reports about the same events from different sources, some accurate, some not.

Both history and current event show that Islam cannot live peacefully with itself much less in peace with its neighbors and that treaties and land sacrifices are futile.

Mohammed’s texts contain irreconcilable contradictions and dissonances that create deplorable conditions in muslims heads, homes, cities, nations and for their neighbors.

The fruit of Islam is war, rape, pillage, destruction, slavery, misogyny, racism, injustice, oppression, persecution, barbaric human rights abuses, drug, porn, human trafficking, and genocide. There have been over 23,500 terrorist attacks since 9/11/01.

There is nothing peaceful or holy about Islam, its texts or its actions.
