It gets more interesting.
It turns out that Dick Durbin wasn’t “lying” if by lying you mean saying something he knew to be untrue. It was curious why Durbin would not name names. Now we know. He would have had to name Harry Reid as his source.
The White House gave the line to Harry Reid, who read it to the Democratic Senate caucus, one of whose members — Durbin — went public with it. The story still was false, and the White House is claiming a “miscommunication.”
I’m not buying that. The supposed statement took place on October 10, as Democrats were standing united against cutting a meaningful deal with Republicans.
I’m leaning toward the “miscommunication” not being so, but part of a White House strategy to hold the party together at a critical time.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) told his Democratic caucus last week in a private meeting that a top House Republican said to President Barack Obama, “I cannot even stand to look at you,” according to two Democratic senators who were present.
The account was confirmed by two Senate Democratic aides who said they independently learned of the exchange from other senators.
A White House official said Thursday that the administration did relay such a message to Reid, but that it was the result of a miscommunication.
“While the quote attributed to a Republican lawmaker in the House GOP meeting with the President is not accurate, there was a miscommunication when the White House read out that meeting to Senate Democrats, and we regret the misunderstanding,” the official said in a statement.
Politico further reports:
Deputy White House chief of staff Rob Nabors was the official who relayed the bungled story to Durbin and other Senate Democratic leaders, according to a Capitol Hill source familiar with the situation.
The White House declined to further elaborate on the issue Thursday. Nabors did not respond to a request for comment.
The episode, which pit the White House against one of its staunchest allies and infuriated Republicans, could be called a game of telephone gone bad.
Telephone gone bad? Or deliberately stoking up Senate Democratic anger thinking no one would be a loose-lipped as Durbin to go public with it.

The lowest people at the highest levels of government in the history of our republic. What really confirms it as a tragedy however is the nonfeasance of the Republican party in the face of this debasement. I guarantee no one in the GOP will say anything meaningful in response to this or turn this into a fight at all. Not even the individuals slandered.

Hateful Harry is one of the worse people on the planet.

He may be among the worst, but is surely among the luckiest, having amassed a multimillion dollar fortune without ever having worked outside Congress and having no visible source of other wealth. How does he do it?
One example: when a group of his Nevada “friends” found a piece of desert property selling cheap, they brought Harry in on the deal. Not that he had the cash to invest, but somehow he was able to participate. Of course, desert isn’t worth much even in a real estate boom. But if an interstate path is moved twenty miles to cross the property, and a previously unplanned interchange is added right on that property, the value could go through the roof.
But these federal projects are years in the planning and it is very rare they are changed so dramatically so late in the process. See what I mean? Harry is very lucky.
And then there’s his son who got a huge paying job as a major union attorney right out of law school. Some can’t figure out what services he actually renders. Maybe someone else already took care of that.
Better to be lucky than good, so they say. Or, apparently, than honest.
Knew one son a bit when I was in NV. He has four sons and one son-in-law, and all are attorneys. Four are with the four biggest (I think) firms in the state. All started out, I think, with the largest, but this diversification was probably a good thing for the family’s power. Oldest ones, at least seemed to specialize in regulatory compliance ( which, in NV somewhat means who you know), and, of course, lobbying. Don’t think though we will see much politically. Not vicious like their father, the formerly dirt poor boxer. Oldest son Rory lost his race for governor on the same ballot where his father was reelected. Maybe 8-10% points between them. Still, the one I knew was extremely well liked in his firm, taking good care of the people in his office very well.
Don’t tell me there isn’t a recording of the conversations. With JFK, RMN…I’m certain there are plenty of recording devices all over the White House. Or, I’m aware of a stenographer who used to work down the street; perhaps she was available. For posterity. For the Children®.
I have always subscribed to taking the “High Road” up to the passing of the last few years. The trash talk that passes for leadership by the left while the right stays above the fray not throwing counter punches has allowed us to have a status in government as patsies. Why Cruz has been elevated to hero status and his backers are ready to do battle. Republicans at all levels of government need to get off the fence and initiate a counter by calling them out every time on their hypocrisy and point out the lefts need to get out of the gutter if they want to excel.
What I heard from the Hill was that Obama’s own BlackBerry said those words to Obama. Honest.

That is what is a bit scary about the Senate Dems. After Harry Reid, they will have a choice probably between Dick Durbin, whose claim to fame may be that he isn’t as stupid as Slo Joe Biden, and slick, oily, Chuck Schumer. I, for one, would prefer Durbin, because Schumer is bright enough and slick enough to be dangerous.

This whole lie was intended to be a card in Wm’s Saturday night card game. It was not intended for immediate leak. It was supposed to gin up fury then slowly leak to the LSM who would charge all GOPers with racism for the “sin” of one not bearing to look at Obama … because … he is black, you know.
