British Parliament debate on Syria LIVE (Update – Cameron loses vote)

The House of Commons is debating intervention in Syria right now.

Update 5:50 (h/t Drudge): UK Prime Minister Cameron loses Syria war vote:

British Prime Minister David Cameron has lost a vote endorsing military action against Syria by 13 votes, a stunning defeat for a government which had seemed days away from joining the U.S. in possible attacks to punish Bashar Assad’s regime over an alleged chemical weapons attack.

Thursday evening’s vote was nonbinding, but in practice the rejection of military strikes means Cameron’s hands are tied. In a terse statement to Parliament, Cameron said it was clear to him that the British people did not want to see military action.

In words of the OWS crowd, “This is what Democracy looks like.”

If Britain is having difficulty in getting on board, what business is it of our?

Tail wagging the dawg big time..

My goodness… they’re actually having a debate? Maybe if Boehner would call the Congress back into session, we could do that as well.

“President Obama issued this red line. Not us. It was him who made this foolish gesture. It is he who will have to back out of this. This is not our affair.” This is what they are saying and please forgive my limited transcribing skills.

House of Commons just voted NO…Now let the US Congress vote !!!

Gee, I wonder if this has more to do with the Libya debacle (perhaps we shouldn’t just put the Muslim Brotherhood in reach of national power) or with Obama’s generally shoddy treatment of the British for the past 5 years?

Either way, the Brits see this as a loser. It’s pretty much exclusively Obama’s Operation “Oops I Said Red Line” (Stolen from Iowahawk). Let him own it.

I pinned this yesterday but got 4 down votes.

When Cameron sent out Euro – Creep to write a snivelling blog in the Tele -we know he has lost.

Now today after a humiliating defeat – Euro-Creep has written a blog declaring that David Caeron has restored Parliament. Stronger now than under Cromwell.
