Looking more and more like a DOJ war on Fox News, not just James Rosen

Looking more and more like a DOJ war on Fox News, not just James Rosen

First it was James Rosen’s personal email and phone records.

Then it was Rosen’s parents’ phone records.

Shannon Bream just reported on Hannity that court records appear to reflect phone records were obtained for multiple Fox News lines at multiple locations. The records were partially redacted, but the area codes and exchanges match up.

DOJ seized phone records of numbers tied to Fox News lines, documents show:

Newly uncovered court documents show the Justice Department seized phone records associated with several Fox News lines as part of a leak investigation — a revelation that comes as the White House Correspondents’ Association spoke out against the administration’s monitoring of reporters.

Documents from October 2011 appear to show exchanges that match the specific locations of Fox News’ White House, Pentagon, State Department and other operations. The last four digits of each of the phone numbers listed are redacted in the government filing so it is impossible to know the full numbers.

Ryan Lizza at The New Yorker reports:

The Obama Justice Department has seized the phone records of numbers that are associated with White House staffers and, apparently, with Fox News reporters, according to a document filed in the case of Stephen Jin-Woo Kim, on October 13, 2011. Kim is a former State Department contractor accused of violating the Espionage Act for allegedly leaking classified information to James Rosen, a Fox News reporter. Ronald C. Machen, Jr., the U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia, who is prosecuting the case, has seized records associated with two phone numbers at the White House, at least five numbers associated with Fox News, and one that has the same area code and exchange as Rosen’s personal-cell-phone number (the last four numbers are redacted).

I still don’t think we’ve seen what’s got the White House staffers freaked out… because FoxNews was considered fair game at Valerie Jarrett’s behest. They don’t expect that to be a huge controversy…. there’s still something they’re worried about.

And for heaven’s sake…. Rosen’s parents…. that is just low.

This is the stuff the nuns taught me about Russia when I was a little girl. Thank God we have the Internet.

They got to John Roberts. This crap makes me seriously believe that. There is nothing that they won’t do and Democrats ARE OKAY WITH IT WHEN THEIR GUY IS IN CHARGE. They were gunrunning in Benghazi, targeting conservatives using the EPA, DOJ, IRS, ATF, and any other government POS entity they could use. But Obama “didn’t know,” even though they ALL REPORT TO HIM. Lying liars are lying.

It is time for two or three Independent Counsels or Prosecutors to independently investigate The Justice Department, the IRS and Homeland Security.
We can get to the White House later.

Well, you know, the POTUS and other top dem leaders did make a point to see that Fox news was seen and labeled as ‘an enemy’of America. Thus, they treated Fox, first as an enemy of the state and second as a reporter. That is their justification; had to keep tabs on identified potential terrorists.

“They got to John Roberts. This crap makes me seriously believe that.”

Is this the reverse of Rupert’s News of The World ‘data collecting ‘ ? O how the Guardian & the America left were hoping to kneecap Fox / News Corp as parent company .

Now Rupert could bring down the Obama Admin if he so wished ?

How delicious . NewsCorp is cashed up for any challenge to the admin . They might even have right on their side .what a whammy.

why hasn’t fox or someone filed complaints on the US Attorney and Judge to the applicable State Bars pointing out the ethics violations and going after the law license of these persons?

deeplytroubled | May 22, 2013 at 12:38 am

It’s the job of the State Bars to address ethics violations and pull the law license for those who allowed violations of right of privacy of James Rosen and his parents.

This ‘war’ is ours to lose.

Here are some interesting details on this case from a Korean newspaper http://www.hani.co.kr/arti/english_edition/e_international/588563.html

“At the time that the incident occurred, Kim was working for the US State Department as a senior analyst in charge of verification, compliance, and implementation information. He was staff at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, a US national nuclear research institute. In May 2009, immediately after North Korea carried out its second nuclear test, Kim was asked by the chief of public relations at the State Department to explain the North Korean issue to James Rosen, a Fox News reporter.”

“After that, Kim communicated with Rosen on the phone and exchanged emails with him. Fox News reported on June 11, 2009, that the CIA had learned from an intelligence agent inside North Korea that the North would respond to the UN resolution by carrying out an additional nuclear test or missile launch. This was the sort of guess that anyone who was interested in North Korea could have made at the time.”

“But federal prosecutors claimed that the article had been based on classified information.”

I agree wholeheartedly with the article’s conclusion that he so-called classified information that Kim shared with Rosen had no business being classified. Anybody could have surmised that the UN sanctions against North Korean might either dissuade the North Koreans from continuing their nuclear program or might cause them to defiantly escalate it. Why that was considered to be classified I don’t know. Probably just to have an excuse to bug the Fox reporters.

This is without precedent in US history, as near as I can tell.

It has NOTHING to do with national security, in reality.

I had what I thought was an out-of-body experience this morning. While flipping through news channels, I came upon Cokie Roberts on Morning Joe, slamming, yes slamming, both The Obama Administration and Holder for going after Rosen and Fox. Golly, I just couldn’t help but smile like a Cheshire Cat. Meow!!!

Remember,Obama refused to use the official SS cell phone and lines.

Obama refused to stop using his personal Blackberry phone. (Isn’t that rich – just like Barry!)

Just who is on his cell phone call list he doesn’t want Americans and the world to see?

[…] The New Yorker’s Ryan Lizza said, The Obama-Holder DOJ has also “Seized the phone records of numbers that are associated with White House staffers” in association with Kim’s interviews which gave away the State Department’s knowledge of North Korean missile response posturing. […]
