Here we go, Gloria

Here we go, Gloria

Via Radar Online:

Famed civil rights attorney Gloria Allred will be in a Boston area courtroom Wednesday in an attempt to unseal the sworn testimony given by Republican Presidential hopeful Mitt Romney, in a prior court case, RadarOnline.com is exclusively reporting.

The Boston Globe is headed to court tomorrow morning for an emergency hearing in an attempt to obtain a court order to unseal the sworn testimony given by Mitt Romney in a prior court case and to lift a gag order so that the parties can speak about Romney. Gloria Allred will be in court representing one of the parties in the case,” a source close to the situation tells RadarOnline.com.

The emergency hearing will take place at the Norfolk Probate & Family Court in Canton, Massachusetts, and Justice Jennifer Ulwick will oversee the proceedings which will begin at 9 a.m. EST.

As previously reported
, Drudge Report founder and respected politico, Matt Drudge, tweeted Thursday: “Here she comes. Hearing Gloria Allred out there again, about to make a move. After all, it’s her time of the campaign. Team O at the ready!!”

    A few thoughts…

    1. this level of nasty would only appeal to the hate-twisted moonbattery, not the average American

    2. whatever the family court (which normally has a strong bias toward protecting minors) has is probably very old news

    3. IF the court rules, it is still subject to an emergency writ to a higher court to stay the order

Bottom line…I ain’t skeered. I worry more about the back-blast from a Trump stupidity.

casualobserver in reply to Ragspierre. | October 23, 2012 at 7:31 pm

I would bet Trump is just being strategic by letting it be known he can counter sleaze with sleaze. It’s said in other places that Trump may have uncovered divorce papers for the Os. Unconfirmed, but somebody is out there letting it slip to test the waters.

DemNoMore in reply to Ragspierre. | October 23, 2012 at 8:48 pm

I do not understand. According to another website, the woman was not a minor — she was in her late thirties. Hasn’t the conservative rap against Romney been that he’s maybe not really pro-life? So wouldn’t unsealing court records showing he counseled a woman not to have an abortion just confirm his pro-life position?

JackRussellTerrierist in reply to Mary Sue. | October 23, 2012 at 7:03 pm

A little info on the new judge: http://www.southcoasttoday.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20120207/NEWS/120209943

Judge was just appointed this year by Deval. Advance setup?

I hope the judge reschedules the hearing for November 7th.

The Devil’s Children are at it again.

Dear heavens, these people are EVIL. “Emergency hearing” to unseal sealed testimony.

Just ’cause.

Meanwhile, everything about Obama remains locked down; judges won’t even touch it.

Would this be the case involving the woman and the abortion?

theduchessofkitty in reply to perdogg. | October 23, 2012 at 6:41 pm

    Maybe.

    But again, maybe not.

    I have been researching this…

Reports state Gloria Allred will represent the Boston Globe in a quest to open sealed testimony regarding abortion counseling by Mitt Romney, acting in capacity of ‘bishop,’ to a Mormon woman by the name Carrel Hilton Sheldon, a self-described social Democrat.

It is reported Sheldon proceeded with the abortion in spite of Romney’s urging to consider the life of the child and she subsequently left the Mormon church.

There presently exists a legal gag order on the court records pertaining to this set of events.

theduchessofkitty in reply to VotingFemale. | October 23, 2012 at 7:42 pm

“It is reported Sheldon proceeded with the abortion in spite of Romney’s urging to consider the life of the child and she subsequently left the Mormon church.”

She went on with the abortion, despite his advice. It was her own damned choice.

The consequences of her actions should not be Romney’s fault. He gave advice. She chose not to take it. The LDS, as just about every denomination that calls itself Christian (with a few exceptions), have a very high appreciation of life, especially innocent life. She should have expected that from a religious denomination that considers itself “conservative.” When she chose to join that congregation, she had to read the rules, accept and follow them. If she didn’t want to, again, that was her choice.

The results or consequences were totally self-inflicted. They’re not Romney’s fault.

All Allred wants to do here is to go all “War on Women” on Romney and the LDS church – which, BTW, has been expanding everywhere.

(And, since we know how Leftists went all gung-ho on Mormons after the passing of Proposition 8 in CA, and MA allows for gay marriage – which Romney did NOTHING to stop -, don’t be surprised at this.)

So Gloria is going to ask a judge to lift a gag order and unseal some sealed testimony so that she can use it to potentially embarrass a presidential candidate and influence the outcome of a national election?

Even the worst kind of Democratic hack judge would probably be hesitant to comply with a request that obviously has nothing whatsoever to do with the merits of the case that is before the judge. Then again, it is Massachusetts, where the normal rules of jurisprudence don’t seem to apply, so who knows?

theduchessofkitty in reply to Observer. | October 23, 2012 at 6:40 pm

“Then again, it is Massachusetts, where the normal rules of jurisprudence don’t seem to apply […]”

Think of it this way: it’s the same state that kept electing Ted Kennedy for decades after the Chapaquidick incident…

…and the Chappaquiddick court papers remain firmly off-limits and seemingly unbreachable, after a Kennedy-buddy judge sealed them for 99 years when it happened.

theduchessofkitty in reply to CalMark. | October 23, 2012 at 6:53 pm

That confirms it was/is unofficially “The Kennedy Fiefdom”. And MA residents are their “serfs”.

The Drill SGT | October 23, 2012 at 6:37 pm

Somehow I doubt that this is going to be a sealed case about Mitt’s love child…

However, my experience has been that 95% of the time, judges in family courts are social justice leftists, so Gloria may prevail in getting whatever unsealed…

theduchessofkitty | October 23, 2012 at 6:39 pm

As I said before, show me:

1. a woman with a love child;
2. a dead girl; or
3. a live boy.

Otherwise, I won’t bite.

Emergency? EMERGENCY? Why is this an EMERGENCY, other than blatant partisan advantage? If this judge accedes to this request, I hope it will be seen for what it is.

That said, I couldn’t care less if Michelle & Barack Obama filed for divorce. Who cares.

They are trying a repeat of the O’s run for the US Senate here in Corruptuionstan, aka Illinois. In that race they got a friendly judge to unseal the divorce records of his opponent which contained the usual statements “he is rotten, larger than me, I am frightened”, etc. The ex wife defended her ex husband but to no avail, he lost the election and the whole US has suffered since.

    9thDistrictNeighbor in reply to alan996. | October 23, 2012 at 6:45 pm

Jack Ryan dropped out of the race because of the unsealed divorce records. Then Alan Keyes stepped in so the moribund Illinois Republicans would have someone to run against O.

    Mercyneal in reply to alan996. | October 23, 2012 at 6:54 pm

I believe that Obama has far more skeletons in his closet than Romney- if Romney has any at all.

SoCA Conservative Mom | October 23, 2012 at 6:40 pm

There should be a law in every state prohibiting Gloria Allred from ever appearing in a court room unless in shackles and a bright orange jumpsuit. I can’t come up with words vile enough to describe my feelings for her.

I am earnestly praying for the protection of Romney.

Can an attorney with no stake in the case even ask for the documents to be unsealed? Hope Romney’s attorneys either kill this move outright in court or ask for a new date when Romney himself is available to ask the court. Say, Nov 7th?

    Alex_SF in reply to riddick. | October 23, 2012 at 8:36 pm

There appears to be precedent for a media outlet to apply for unsealing of records in MA, based on a “well-established common law right of access to the judicial records of civil proceedings.” http://masscases.com/cases/sjc/432/432mass593.html

I’m not a MA attorney, but in most states, court records are presumptively public records, so a court has to have a compelling reason to seal them — e.g. to protect privacy of a party, or to protect a criminal defendant’s right to a fair trial. The case I linked above suggests that if the interest that compelled sealing in the first place no longer exists, then a media company can petition for unsealing. Can any MA attorneys confirm?

Seriously…how does she define emergency to the judge? What is the emergency? Beyond having uhhhhbama re-elected, I can’t imagine what the emergency could be.

She’s a recent (October this year) Duval Patrick appointee.

Judge Ulwick is new the bench and can be a bit quirky with some of her orders. They are always well reasoned but sometimes a bit creative. There is no telling what she will do. And remember, Judges in Massachusetts are appointed and are not up for re-election.

theduchessofkitty | October 23, 2012 at 6:44 pm

Isn’t there something to use to get her out of that because of conflict of interest?

We all know she was a delegate to the DNC. She has a very strong interest to get Her Man elected – even it that means destroying his opponent and his family.

theduchessofkitty | October 23, 2012 at 6:47 pm

My whole prayer here is that whole thing is a total and unmistakeable dud.. just like when they unsealed Sarah Palin’s e-mails.

(Remember that everyone who salivated at the prospect of Alaska-sized corruption gold ended up walking with their tails between their legs.)

This has to be radioactive. And Allred must know it. Otherwise, she wouldn’t be bothering.

I have a VERY bad feeling about this.

Mercyneal in reply to CalMark. | October 23, 2012 at 6:53 pm

Allred is an ambulance chaser. My guess is that she has no idea what’s in the gag order… Lots of her stunts have gone nowhere.

caambers in reply to Mercyneal. | October 23, 2012 at 9:23 pm

Remember though that Allred did a dandy job of removing Herman Cain from the race (why wasn’t that raaaaaaacism?) so who the heck knows what she’ll be able to do. Someone must be paying her a pile of money and is she licensed to practice in every state in the union?

Oh, please, let’s not start hyperventilating or concern trolling.

What is particularly disturbing is how everyone on the left considers such unspeakably dirty behavior as perfectly normal and acceptable.

Prediction: Allred WILL get her way, the media WILL go hog-wild, and Romney may very well be destroyed personally and politically — and with him, the Republican Party.

Mercyneal in reply to CalMark. | October 23, 2012 at 6:52 pm

Oh, for pete’s sake, I think people here are over-reacting. What on earth could Romney have done that could destroy his chances?

Anyone remember George Bush’s DWI that came out about two days before the election in 2004? Nothing happened.

caambers in reply to CalMark. | October 23, 2012 at 9:24 pm

Time for a revolution if so. I will not succumb to progressive overlords.

Question: is a lawyer allowed to behave like this? Is it ethical for an officer of the court to attempt to use the courts to influence an election like this?

jnials in reply to Yujin. | October 23, 2012 at 8:18 pm

Unfortunately as a friend who was once a lawyer (he sadly has fallen to schizophrenia) explained to me morality and legal ethics have NOTHING to do with each other.

If this disgusting and obvious ploy has ANY affect on the vote, then we’re truly a doomed country. Allred is contemptible, but that anyone would pay attention to this “surprise”, this late-in-the-game silliness….as if whatever it is would be a lot worse than the Commander-in-Chief and his minions letting 4 Americans, one an Ambassador, be murdered.

I AM cynical about the voting public out there (or, how does Obama pull 49% EVER?), but I’m trying to be hopeful that we haven’t completely lost our minds as a people, and that most WILL get it that this “surprise” is just a scam.

MaggotAtBroadAndWall in reply to Mosonny. | October 23, 2012 at 7:00 pm

It may not be significant, but if it embarrasses Romney or impairs his chances in any way, the corrupt media will give the story 10x more attention than it deserves and keep it alive for as long as possible.

Professor, would you care to weigh in for us with a little legal insight? Please!

For goodness sake, CalMark, please stop with the Eeyore stuff about something that hasn’t actually happened yet; It makes you sound like a concern troll.

theduchessofkitty | October 23, 2012 at 6:58 pm

I think Ace may be on to something here.

As I said before, Allred better not go into attacking the right of a clergy to counsel someone from his/her parish. She better not go there.

Either way, this definitely tells me she is going all “War on Women” here.

I scanned the Ace piece, and I know a lot about LDS theology (I have family members who are LDS).

This would be tantamount to a Catholic priest counseling a woman to carry a child to term, and relinquish it to be adopted by a good family.

    AWFUL…!!! Not.

theduchessofkitty in reply to Ragspierre. | October 23, 2012 at 7:18 pm

Yep, that’s exactly what I’m thinking. And I’m neither Catholic nor LDS.

She better not go there. That would rise up all clergy in arms against her. If she does that, it could backfire spectacularly.

I’m just groping around here, but…

SWORN testimony in a family law case by a clergyman suggests a severing of parental rights, OR…

a very nasty child custody controversy.

Normally, in most jurisdictions, LDS leaders have the same clerical status as a priest or other religious leader has, and there is a privilege against compulsory testimony, but it belongs to the congregant…not the person counseling. A few exceptions exist, and they only come into play in really unhappy circumstances affecting the best interests of a minor (assuming that is implicated here).

Observer in reply to Ragspierre. | October 23, 2012 at 8:37 pm

If this is the case in which Romney, as a Mormon bishop, counseled a woman not to have an abortion, then perhaps he was questioned about the specifics of his religious beliefs in the deposition (or whatever the sealed testimony was). Since Romney was acting in his capacity as a bishop when he allegedly “intimidated” the woman, his religious beliefs would have been relevant, and they may have been explored in great detail.

The woman, as a party to the lawsuit (presumably the plaintiff) would know the substance of Romney’s testimony. The woman reportedly went ahead with the abortion (despite Romney’s “intimidation”), and also subsequently left the Mormon church because of Romney’s behavior. She clearly has a big grudge against both Romney and the Mormon church. If she believes that something Romney said in the deposition about his religious beliefs/practices could be used to embarrass him now, perhaps that is what Allred is after.

Ragspierre in reply to Observer. | October 23, 2012 at 8:49 pm

What you say hangs together well rationally…

        in a tort case.

I don’t see how that obtains in a family and probate court, however.

Ragspierre in reply to Observer. | October 23, 2012 at 8:52 pm

        Eww…

UNLESS mom was trying to recant a relinquishment of her parental rights to allow an adoption.

That could work. It would satisfy a lot of conditions.

theduchessofkitty in reply to Observer. | October 23, 2012 at 9:16 pm

So, in this case, she wants to sink Romney, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints – along with an entire American population that is hurting economically.

This woman thinks that a clergy for a religious organization demanding accountability is a bad thing. What the heck did she expect – “live and let live”? That’s not how most religions work! She would have gotten the same speech from a priest or a minister at another church. The “I’m going to do as I damned well please!” doesn’t work when accountability is demanded.

And for that, she wants to destroy somebody?

This is the reason why Church matters are separate from that of the State, as the First Amendment plainly protects the “free exercise” of religion.

I see this kind of thing a lot in family law cases where one spouse/parent has a dark history.

They often come back into court to get the “stamp of approval” of an authority. They often go to extreme measures to show they are not who they were, including tarring everyone involved in the prior actions.

Of course, we are totally speculating here. I have no idea if any of this really applies.

…and in the other corner, Donald Trump with Michelle Obama’s divorce papers stating she’s leaving Barack due to his homosexual activities…

She already dam well knows what those people are going to say once the gag is lifted and she knows what is in the court papers. This is going to be very damaging to Mitt if it gets out, even if its not true.

I hope the RR campaign remembers from The Untouchables: “They pull a knife, you pull a gun. He sends one of yours to the hospital, you send one of his to the morgue. *That’s* the *Chicago* way!”

I think that Trump’s “revelation” is no more scurrilous than Allred’s, but is being offered in a tit(if I may be sexist)-for-tat challenge: “My finger is poised over the button. The moment you say ‘May it please the Court…’, my info goes to 500 media outlets and the New York Times“.

perdogg in reply to Akatsukami. | October 23, 2012 at 7:12 pm

    Alex_SF in reply to Akatsukami. | October 23, 2012 at 8:27 pm

Trump couldn’t make an explicit (or implicit) threat to reveal whatever he says he’s sitting on, without committing extortion. So even if it is a tit-for-tat challenge, he can’t make it seem like one.

Do we have any idea what kind of material Allred filed in support of her motion?

How hard can it be for someone to run to the courthouse to get a copy, or is this stuff online?

Or did Allred make the announcement after the court closed?

If this was going to amount to anything, why did they wait until now to go for it? Was that because the imminence of the election was what makes it an emergency? I’m not sure that adds up.

The only other explanation I can think of is sheer desperation.

theduchessofkitty | October 23, 2012 at 7:13 pm

Don’t y’all think this would have been out when he ran for Governor of MA… or for the U.S. Senate some years before?

If anyone had “the goods” on Mitt, it was the Democrats and Ted Kennedy. He could have used every little dirty thing back then. Why didn’t he?

When running for Governor in 2002, Democrats in MA could have unsealed those records. If they had “the goods”, they would have definitely used them. Why didn’t they?

And why is that Female Spawn of the Devil doing that NOW?

And why is the Boston Globe getting involved in this, when they could have done this way back then, in 2002 – just as the Chicago Tribune did to Jack Ryan in 2004?

WHY DIDN’T THEY DO THAT THEN?

I’ll tell you why: because he has become THE BIGGEST THREAT to The One – and the numbers and the “preference cascade” are showing it. If they ever have their merry way, The One would be President until the ending of the world. Mitt Romney is simply going to delay or destroy that.

They cannot have that.

I think that the democrat party can be labeled as a swamp with a cast of characters from the absurd to the outright fakes.

In this case it is the absurd Gloria Allred dumpster diving in the legal landfill. She doesn’t how bad she’ll smell as long as she can infect the rest of us with the contents of what is supposed to be “sealed” for the protection of those who testified…

Only subhuman lowlifes like Allred dare to sift for any phrase taken out of context and call it the “truth.”

She represent the worst of the human condition…

I don’t know much about law….but, Professor, on what grounds would Allred ask the court to unseal the records, assuming she was not the lawyer for the original case?

The deeper reason many are scared is our own fault: we’ve played the Left’s bitch for so long it’s become part of the DNA of being a Republican. We’re ALWAYS trembling about what they’re going to do to us at the 11th hour, rather than shattering the paradigm from the beginning and putting THEM on the defensive — from the beginning. We pretended once again this was going to be a highminded election process and so we upheld our Marquis of Queensbury standard — all the while biting our nails about what the ruthless and savage Left (which has no standard and laughs at our perpetual credulousness and dumb-cow decency) would do to us. So here we are again, awaiting their terrorism.

The so-called “Greatest Generation” and their kids, of which Mitt Romney is one, keep forcing candidates onto us who are OBSESSED with not offending anyone, even if it costs them the election. Exception: all’s fair against conservative/Tea Party candidates, no matter how vicious, unscrupulous, or untrue.

It’ll take Gen X’ers running for office to end the spineless cowardice.

It would appear that Gloria Allred practices law in California. Does that mean that she will have to take Lizzie the Cherokee with her when she visits the Family Court in Boston?

There a special place in hell waiting for that rancid old bitch.

Natick is not in Norfolk County. And a misdemeanor would not be tried in family court. Conclusion: it has nothing to do with the boat fracas.

“Famed civil rights attorney..”..!!! Ohhhh, pleeaassseee!!

That sleazy cow is a Black Hole of Emotional NEED. Back in L.A. there was a standing joke that went something like this: “Where’s the most dangerous place in Los Angeles?” Answer: “The ground between Gloria Allred and a camera & microphone.”

theduchessofkitty | October 23, 2012 at 8:21 pm

You know, I’m getting pretty mad at that woman, Gloria Allred. She obviously thinks all women do (or must) think with their “lady parts” above all else.

Sorry Gloria, but I don’t think with my “lady parts”. At this point in my life, they’re quite irrelevant to me. (They are for The Duke, for sure.) 😉

But Allred really thinks that way. Is that ALL she believes? Is that the core of her being – to protect and preserve the rights of women’s “lady parts” – even at the expense of men?

If all that matters to women is their right to, ahem, “choose”, then I don’t want it, and I refuse to be called a “woman” in her mold. I have two children, daughters. They’re right here with me. I’m raising them, as the Almighty gave me and their father that responsibility. I will be there for them always.

I fear for their future.

I see The Duke, whose career has been stagnant and rotting on the vine since The One was elected four years ago. It is taking a depressing toll. And he’s not the only one. I see other women around me worried about their husband’s prospects. Careers stagnated. Careers or jobs ended. Having to do with less – much less. Inflation has taken a serious toll everywhere – even here in the Houston area, which was supposed to be relatively “untouched” by this recession. Newsflash – we’re suffering here as well, and it is mainly because of The One, the Democrats and all who support them.

I fear for his future – and all the men’s.

Lots of women’s careers and jobs have also been stagnated around here, and even lost. I know of a friend of mine, female, who lost her job pretty much unannounced. She has had to make do with much less because of it. And she’s single. If anyone was supposed to think with her “lady parts”, it is my friend. But she’s not.

Gloria Allred, Obama, Democrats: stop insulting our intelligence. We don’t just think with the “Lifetime”, or the “Oprah” radar. We see what’s around us, yet you dare to tell us, “Who are YOU going to believe – US, or your LYING eyes?”

All of our futures are at stake here – even our own children’s. If this economy keeps sinking under the sea level like the Titanic, I don’t think people are going to have much time or inclination to think that much with or about their genitals.

“Lady Parts” don’t matter. Our futures do.

A couple of thoughts:

(1) Do any readers practice law in MA, and if so, can you hunt down a summary of the standard for unsealing family court records?

They’re presumably sealed to protect the privacy of the parties to the action, not to protect the privacy of witnesses who testify in those proceedings, but can you confirm? And if my surmise is correct, would Romney even have any standing to oppose the Globe’s request to unseal, especially if the parties to the proceeding don’t object to the unsealing?

(2) If the judge grants the request, would Romney have any means (or standing) to immediately appeal the order and stay the unsealing pending review?

On on the Trunp side, Hillbuzz is speculating that Trump has info on Obama claiming to be foreign student in order to game the system and get financial ad. Brietbart has also speculated on this in the past.

Jack The Ripper | October 23, 2012 at 8:34 pm

What would be the grounds for Gloria Allred to have standing?

Ragspierre in reply to Jack The Ripper. | October 23, 2012 at 8:55 pm

Clients have standing (or don’t). Lawyers don’t (unless they are themselves parties). The blurb says Alred has client who was a party.

Raquel Pinkbullet | October 23, 2012 at 8:35 pm

Any lawyers? How can she go to a Boston Court to have a gag order lifted? Wouldn’t she have to be licensed in MA?

Maybe Elizabeth Warren is representing her…oh wait…

She can apply to the court for permission to appear pro hac vice; it just requires sponsorship by a Massachusetts-licensed attorney. I did that once when I was in MA temporarily, working in the Boston office of a law firm I used to work for. It’s not a big deal. And there have to be plenty of MA Donk attorneys willing to sponsor her.

<<== concern troll!! Maybe it's my Hispanic Catholic, superstitious upbringing, but I just want the election to be held RIGHT NOW.

Who put Allred up to this?

You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy than Gloria Allred and ambulance chasing lawyers of her ilk.
No.
Really.
You won’t.
Ever.

Gloria Allred and her ilk of ambulance chasing lawyers is a massively inflamed festering pus oozing rectal boil — filled with degenerate reprobates, troglodyte homunculi, and the most spastic quivering mass of intellectually challenged Liberal losers you will ever find on the earth. Well — aside from perhaps a few other professions that actually and intentionally and actively market to and recruit such practically sub-human diseased vermin.

Pedophiles are more respectable.

Obama, Allred et al will try to make the case that his advise in the capacity of religious counselor is what he would do in the capacity of President. All that needs to be done is explain that he did exactly as he should have in that particular situation and in that capacity, and then show them how in the capacity of Governor of Massachusetts he followed the LAW as required. Logic, logic, logic. Then tell them to point out where in the capacity of Governor he tried to or succeeded in interfering in a woman’s right to choose or in regard to women obtaining birth control.

And since obviously they wish to use this issue more as an emotional one (like the dog on top of the car) rather than a logical one, I would like to see women who have been attacked by the left for choosing not to have an abortion under similar circumstances speak out in support of Romney. The vicious attacks by the left on Sarah Palin and Tim Tebow’s mother are part of what drove me away from the hypocritical Democratic Party.

Jack The Ripper | October 23, 2012 at 8:50 pm

Family man with five kids present launched a boat.

What the Fuck is this? “Mormans Gone Wild!!!”

Please let it be the boat launching crime!

Please let it be the boat launching crime!

Please let it be the boat launching crime!

Disobeyed a PARK RANGER.

That should probably make the average American WANT TO CONTRIBUTE MORE MONEY TO MITT ROMNEY.

Was it Ranger Rick?

Did Mitt also steal a pic-a-nic basket?

Is Lawrence O’Donnell gonna challenge Mitt to a duel?

If Mitt had been 1/32nd Native American or had used an eco-friendly boat (solar powered, 90% post-consumer recycled content), would he have been spared.

What a hellian! Disorderly conduct. Can we really have a man who would defy a park ranger be the person with “his finger on the button?!?!?!”

Wait, wait. Let me guess. Since Gloria Allred was involved, it must be that the park ranger was female. Did Mitt call her a car___ munc____ dies__ dy__? Lett___ lic___?

Oh, how I see the light! This War on Women has gone on “just long enough.” That, and cystic fibrosis, and breast cancer.

Raquel Pinkbullet | October 23, 2012 at 8:50 pm

Either way Romney NEEDS to get out in front of this, launch an offensive, before this piece of subhuman diseased vermin known as Gloria Allred turns this in to a spectacle.

Obama and his cronies are desperate they know they need something BIG to blunt Mittmentum.

We need to punch back twice as hard.

There will be numerous attorneys before the judge tomorrow. Romney will have counsel there representing him to argue his case. Unless the judge rules to unseal them and an appeals court upholds the lower court’s ruling (there will be appeals filed either way), Romney cannot address the issue due to the gag order.

As of now, there’s nothing for him to get ahead of.

Jack The Ripper | October 23, 2012 at 8:54 pm

Oh, Mitt. The humanity. The humanity.

Gary Gordon was right:

Everyone’s a Criminal

by

Gary Gordon

When I was very young
My Uncle Mel got sick.
My father said, “Before he’s dead,
Let’s visit the old prick.”

“You never know,” continued dad,
“This world is full of swill,
And since old Mel’s a cheapskate,
He might cut us from his will.”

So we went down to the hospital
Where he was hooked to a machine,
Uncle Mel didn’t look too good
He was shrivelled up and green.

We all made stupid small talk
As we sat around his bed,
But when Mom and Dad went out for some air
I stayed with Mel instead.

The minute my folks left the room
Old Mel’s eyes seemed to clear,
He grinned and pulled me toward him
and whispered in my ear.

“Sonny boy, when I was young,
‘Bout the same age you are now,
I thought that Right would always win
And that Truth would shine somehow.

But now that I’m a sick old fart
And I’ve learned a thing or two,
Take these tips from Uncle Mel
‘Cause I’d never lie to you.

Everyone’s a criminal,
Everyone’s a con,
Your Mom, your pop, your cousin Mitch,
The list goes on and on.

Everyone is guilty
of some stupid little crime,
Like spitting on the sidewalk,
I do it all the time.

And everyone’s a pencil thief
No matter what they make.
When Congress meet they legislate
How many bribes to take.

And what about them preachers
who tell you what life means,
While all of your donations
buy them nice new limousines

And everyone’s a sodomist
Who’s given head a try.
If they gave the chair for tonguing it,
Then most of us would fry.

And everyone’s a litterbug,
Who hasn’t left some poop
For someone else to step in
‘Cause they didn’t use a scoop.

And everyone’s forgotten
Some income here and there,
Like that ten bucks Gramma sent
You figured nobody would care.

And everyone has jaywalked
And never even paused
To think about the ten car crash
Their careless rush just caused.

Everyone has loitered
Or trespassed once or twice,
Or lied on an insurance form
Or played a little dice.

Everyone’s a bookie,
The papers give the spread,
Your pop has got it eight to five
That I never leave this bed.

Yeah, I know that they’re all schemers,
They’d love to see me kick,
But Uncle Mel is no one’s fool
I’ve still got one last trick.

You’re the only one that I can trust,
So here’s what I will do,
Before I go, just so you know,
I’m leaving it all to YOU!”

Well, I just stood there speechless,
Then gave old Mel a hug,
And as I wiped a tear away
I pulled out Uncle’s plug.

Jack, your Muse called and said she has revoked your poetic license on the grounds of 1) irrelevant silliness; 2) vulgarity without redeeming value; 3) gross pessimism; and 4) sheer waste of readers’ time.

That was not my muse, because I do not have a muse.

Also, that was not my poem, it was some guy named Gary Gordon, who may have worked for National Lampoon or Harvard Lampoon.

MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell also supposedly worked for Harvard Lampoon. Unless he went by the nom de plum, or should I say, nom de poem “Gary Gordon,” its also fair to say that what I copied and properly attributed to Gary Gordon is a damn sight better than anything that Mr. O’Donnell has ever written or said – published in writing or published over the airwaves.

And, thus, I move that you Reconsider the merits of the aforementioned poem, which I submitted for the consideration of you and others, as not being a waste of the reader’s time because:

      1) It highlights the triviality of Mitt Romney allegedly defying a park ranger’s “order” not to launch a watercraft upon the Waters of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts;

      2) It familiarizes more people with a poem I read 25 years ago and which still ocassionally pops in my mind;

      3) It highlights the banality of Lawrence O’Donnell and MSNBC for hiring him.

If all else fails, I beg your mercy and insist upon an NEA grant. Either of the following NEAs will do just fine: National Endowment for the Arts or National Education Association. So will NRA grants.

[…] noted attention seeker Gloria Allred is planning to drop her own bomb on Romney […]

I think today may be the first time anyone has heard Obama make claim to a 2nd term agenda. The entire time he’s been campaiging (for a year and a half?) it’s been what a great job he’s doing and more recently what a bottom feeder Romney is.

Personally, I’ve become absolutely numb to all the feces the left and Obama has been slinging. It’s like watching MTV every day, eventually you start losing IQ points. It just doesn’t stick and I really don’t care. Jerry Sandusky could be the nominee and I’d still vote against Obama.

Famed media whore is more like it. If the courts allow this then dammit…flipping obama has to release every damn thing that he’s been hiding. Otherwise…this is a non-story.

Jack The Ripper | October 23, 2012 at 9:19 pm

According to LifeNews.com, it might be that Mitt, as a Mormon Bishop, tried to talk a woman out of an abortion.

See:

http://www.lifenews.com/2012/10/23/will-october-surprise-show-romney-talking-woman-out-of-abortion/

Of course, if this is the case, it raises a number of questions:

1) Do religious leaders sometimes counsel their fellow adherants not to have an abortion, not use medical marijuana, stay with a difficult (and possibly abusive) spouse, refrain from fornication or other sexual acts?

2) Did Romney exercise undue influence?

3) Did she have the abortion?

4) Did she have the child?

5) What did Gloria Allred do to get this woman to pull a “Sandra Fluke” and thrust her private life into the national spotlight?

6) Did Gloria Allred exercise undue influence?

7) What do Gloria Allred’s clients and former clients have to say about her “legal services?”

8) DID NOT GLORIA ALLRED EXPOSE SOMEONE’S HOUSEKEEPER to the risk of being deported or fined or incarcerated to score political points, even though Gloria’s highest duties would have been to the client?

9) What about that well endowed banker who may have been fired for flaunting her cleavage? Was she satisfied with Gloria Allred’s services?

9) Amber Frey (of Scott Peterson fame)?

10) Other clients?

11) Are our elections now going to constantly have this evil, shrill attorney as a storm cloud? Would someone please investigate her???????? [Did she ever do divorce work? That might be fertile ground for excessively zealous advocacy.].

If Republican-minded lawyers in California and Massachusetts are not willing to do their part to investigate and defend against the likes of Gloria Allred and Elizabeth Warren, then it is time to revisit opposition research (even though Allred is technically not an opposing candidate).

Why would Allred represent the Boston Globe? Don’t they have their own lawyers for this? Something seems fishy.

Non story, and the electorate will not care.

Mitt doesn’t seem worried. At all. He has been through the gauntlet against Democrats before, I don’t think there is a skeleton out there left that can bring him down. That isn’t to say Allred won’t try to blow whatever this is out of proportion with the help of the media.

I think this would taint Obama, who already looks increasingly desperate. The women who would be inclined to believe Allred are already voting for Obama. I suspect the rest will see this for what it is, a last ditch effort to save a failing campaign.

Jack The Ripper | October 23, 2012 at 9:25 pm

In a just world, Marilyn Monroe would still be alive and Gloria Allred would have left us in 1962.

And, even if you are staunchly pro-life, doesn’t looking at Gloria Allred and her lawyer daughter (who sued the Boy Scouts of America over its unentheusiastic approach to gay Scoutmasters and Assistant Scoutmasters), make you think that in some instances, partial birth abortion is just fine.

O Lord, why hast thou inflicted Gloria Allred, the 11th Plague, upon us? Please do not turn a deaf ear to our prayers and supplications, and forgive our sins.

[Maybe Gloria Allred’s existence is the reason the Muslims hate us. We need to send her to Guantanimo, for the good of the cuntry, of course.].

Jack The Ripper | October 23, 2012 at 9:30 pm

I meant to add:

Given the way that Gloria Allred has exploited (and essentially betrayed) her female clients, we all know who is the perpetrator of the Real War on Women.

Gloria Allred is to women’s rights what Gloria Vanderbilt, Gloria Swanson, Gloria Gaynor and Van Morrison, U2, and Laura Branigan’s respective Glorias were to our efforts to defeat communism, fascism, and polio. [And, that is being generous to Gloria Allred].

Someone build a dossier on how Gloria Allred has “served” her clients!!!!!

Well, they haven’t gotten any less sleazy since they decided to disqualify Barack Obama’s opponent for the Senate, have they?

Help me, please. why would a minister’s counseling of a woman not to have an abortion end up in family court? how could it be the court’s business unless the woman asked the court to intervene in a private or religious matter. Was the woman asking the court to overturn religious doctrine or something? pretty stupid…leave the church and get your abortion.
And if Mitt was a party to having the records sealed, isn’t he a party to having them opened or not?
Thirdly, what’s the emergency to open the records if not to do harm to one or more of the parties?
Fourthly, it would be a story if Mitt had counseled her to get an abortion.

Jack The Ripper | October 23, 2012 at 9:35 pm

“[T]he Police Log from the June 18, 1981 edition of the Natick Sun reported as follows:

Game Warden William Erickson . . . .”

So, I guess it was not a “dickless tracy” afterall and Gloria Allred’s possible involvement in uncovering a boat-launching crime would have nothing to do with with women, unless:

1) Mitt launched the boat over the protests of his wife, or

2) Game Warden William Erickson was really Game Warden Willamena Erickson until she pulled a Chastity Boner and had an addadicktomy procedure.

In case you ever get on Jeopardy and this question comes up, Google Has 853 results (some being duplicates, no doubt) if you Google the following search:

“Gloria Allred is a c___”

This is what they are saying over at HotAir so what gives?

“Gloria Allred is looking to get court documents related to a nasty divorce unsealed. Apparently, Romney had to testify or made a statement to the court. He must have known the husband in some capacity. My guess is Allred will trot out her client who will say that she was beaten up by her husband and Romney’s testimony in court prevented her husband from being locked up.”

It raises some questions about Mitt Romney, but raises a lot more questions about the divorcing wife, Gloria Allred, etc.

This could end up being Gloria Allred’s Waterloo. Lots of ins and outs that I do not wish to telegraph to Ms. Allred.

Mark Halperin has a little blip on this. 25/26 years ago Romney Testified (a divorce case) as to the value of the company STAPLES. allred is in Boston,Ma. apearing in in court today in hopes of unsealing these divorce documents. By the way according to Romney’s lawyer, Romney has no objection to these documents being unsealed. Ace has a theory if your interested Pam

People here are giving way too much credence to Allred. I used to be a journalist.. she’s a joke.

The Sandra Fluke controversy can teach us a lesson here. There’s a certain percentage of Obama die-hards who are going to vote for him no matter what. They are like religious adherents stubbornly clinging to their pathetic Groupthink. These people are incapable of evaluating a Sandra Fluke or an Elizabeth Warren or a Gloria Allred and immediately be overwhelmed by their lies, partisanship, hypocrisy, condescension and the associated soiling.

DemNoMore in reply to SGLawrence. | October 23, 2012 at 11:34 pm

Obama may have overestimated how far he can successfully push issues like this. There was a news story up a couple of days ago about Sandra Fluke making a well-publicized appearance in (I think) Nevada. It was attended by a whopping crowd of about ten people. And I must say Fluke, Allred and Warren are all repugnant to me.

Is it at all certain that Gloria Allblue is out to assist Obama specifically? If she’s in Boston, could she be out to sink Scott Brown?

Raquel Pinkbullet | October 23, 2012 at 10:56 pm

This from “Alex The Chick”- A Lawyer..

Mandatory disclaimer time: Not licensed in Mass., not licensed in your jurisdiction, not your lawyer, any information given is general in nature and speculative.

In theory, there is supposed to be a pretty high burden to get a gag order lifted or a seal broken on a sealed case. That’s because, in theory, there’s a pretty high burden to get the gag order/seal issued in the first place. Remember, the presumption is that anything in the court system, with the exception of juvenile criminal records, is considered to be public record. Someone has to go to a judge, ask for the gag order/seal to be issued and give a damn good reason why.

Note I said in theory. Depending on the jurisdiction, and I know nothing at all about Mass., records are routinely sealed for matters involving a minor or where financial information is at issue. However, in those circumstances you better show a very compelling reason indeed to get those orders lifted.

Now to parse the story. This is in family court so it could be estate, child support/custody, divorce proceeding, things of that ilk. This says it’s seeking testimony given by Romney under oath. That’s interesting phrasing. It could be court testimony or it could be a deposition. There’s also nothing that says that Romney was a party to the suit and from the phrasing of the article, which you would assume was vetted six ways from Sunday by the attorneys before it ran, it indicates to me that Romney was a witness, not a party.

This is all blatantly uninformed speculation on my part, of course. But my guess is that it’s not the abortion story because an IIED case wouldn’t be before family court. Maybe the woman tried to get the child back? I vaguely recall that she put the child up for adoption though that could be wrong.

As far as how does Allred know, gag orders do not apply to information given to counsel in the course of representation. Thus whoever this is would be able to tell Allred about it and it is even possible that they may have a copy of whatever the testimony is.

Frankly, unless it’s a love child or a live boy situation, Allred’s better off with the motion being denied. Then there’s total speculation without confirmation as to what’s in it, thus letting the oh noes sister wives speculation continue. Romney is in the worst possible position as he cannot counter without being in violation himself.

Were I the judge? The hearing would begin with some very pointed questions as to just how it was that this hearing became public. Once a gag order/seal is issued, everything about the case is supposed to be out of the public eye, even hearings on the matter. I’d be walking in itching to throw someone in jail.

Oh and I do agree there’s at least a 90+% chance this is going to be lifted.

    Pinkbullet,

I am married to a great woman and have two lovely children (even if adolescence is starting to rear its ugly head).

I have never cheated on my wife, and do not have it on my list of hobbies for the rest of 2012 or 2013, but . . .
I think I am starting to fall in love with you.

Don’t know about the tiny url to the boy parts, but the link to the photo of Christina Hendricks is great. Her character on Mad Men really shatters everything.

Now, as for the rest of what you wrote, I simply do not know what to think or say. All I know is that we live in fickle times where symbolism seems to trump substance. In legalease, I guess it would be called elevating form over substance.

Alex the Lawyer may be able to provide more clarification.

Please forgive me for objectifying your intellect, but it is hot.

Hang tough with your hopes about both the public realm and the private realm of your life. But for the tough days, we would never know the good days.

Life is a journey and we hopefully learn that victory lies not at some high place along the way, but in having made the journey.

Well we see a familiar MO don’t we. Allred trouts out an allegation, but does so with very little time left in the election so it cannot be completely disproved. of course the one slight problem with Allred is that if the gag order is lifted, EVERYONE can talk. I bet the Romney campaign is already ready to fight back.

WHOA!!! Stop the Presses! This may be it!

Via Ace:

TMZ: Boston Globe, Gloria Allred Trying to Unseal Court Records In Someone Else’s Divorce; Got Tip Record Contains “Juicy Information” About Romney

Please.

Again, show me a:

1. woman with a love-child;
2. a dead girl; or
3. a live boy.

Otherwise, I won’t bite.

I’m not licensed to practice in MA, and in the 4 states where I am licensed, I stay the hell away from domestic law matters. In probate and guardianship it is routine for filings to be sealed. I don’t really have an informed opinion about the batting average on efforts to unseal. I realize it sure worked to hurt Jack Ryan in IL (via CA).

Romney’s people should assume the worst, and expect that whatever it is, it will be released by the court, or Allred will leak it with plausible deniabilty, if the court orders it to remain sealed.

So, were I Romney’s counsel at the hearing tomorrow I would put any and all possible witnesses on the stand, including Allred to establish who has knowledge of the sealed information, and how they obtained the information. Mind you, this would not be about the information itself, but about the dissemination of the information which is sealed (for the time being). I would nail that down before the Judge rules, to exert the maximum suasion against the folks who might be inclined to leak the information, even if the Judge rules against them.

I think Allred is a despicable POS, reason # 876,239,173 in the endless series of examples which explain why people hate lawyers.

Jack The Ripper in reply to Emil Blatz. | October 24, 2012 at 12:10 am

    Emil,

    POS?

Feces is an inanimate chunk of matter lacking in sentience and choice.

Gloria Allred ostensibly has some control over her choices in life.

On behalf of feces everywhere, I object to you slandering and disparaging feces by comparing it to Gloria Allred.

Feces meant no harm and does not try to aggrandize itself.

    Gloria . . . . . .

P.S. – Which is more dangerous, being between Chuck Schumer and a camera/microphone or being between Gloria Allred and a camera/microphone?

Sooo…. Allred’s big story is about a 25 year old divorce and an ex-wife who made crappy financial decisions and pissed away the bulk of her settlement looking for more loot? And somehow Romney is responsible for her irresponsibility because he didn’t know what the value of Staple’s stock would be when it went public a couple of years down the road?

Yeah, that’s going to play well with the undecided voters.

If there ever was a woman you could call ‘dirt’ without offending the sensibilities of any gentlemen or lady, it’s this scumbag.

Let me guess, the ex-wife will claim abuse and maybe be backed by a friend or two. Won’t have any actual proof of anything bad happening, but it will be enough for the media to move on the story.

With what’s coming out about Benghazi and radical Islamacist visits to the WH, both the obastard campaign and the media desperately need and want the distraction.

Radical Islamacists visit the WH in droves for months. Our consulate is begging for help. Other friendly entities have abandoned the region as the security breaches and threats amp up. The very day of the attack, our consulate sent a last desperate missive pleading for help. Our compound in Benghazi is attacked on 9/11. The situation room at the WH gets full confirmation and real time footage starting within two hours of the commencement of the attack. obastard sat there for seven hours as the attack raged on and never ordered drone strikes or reinforcements of any kind. He sat while the Islamacists finished their business and having their way with our people.

How much was o paid by the Islamic radical factions to allow this devastating attack on and humiliation to America?

The media will refuse to make these connections, but they need something, anything, they can spin into a bigger headline to distract from the growing cynicism about this attack.

Enter Gloria Allred and another aggrieved female.

    Good catch.

Reading the link, it doesn’t look like there’s going to be much meat on the bones of the story as it relates to Romney. Allred and Stemberg, her ostensible “client” (and make no mistake that the real client is obastard), will puff this up like the Hindenburg to get as much distraction and smear mileage out of it they can, which will be a lot in view of the media’s desperation to talk about anything but Benghazi.

From the linked article (and great find, BTW): “She produces doctors notes detailing medical woes…plus recommendations for thrice weekly psychotherapy and psychiatry.”

    Sometimes you get little clues.

Dear GOP Establishment:

In the unlikely event anything legitimately scurrilous about Romney emerges from this fiasco, you will pay for it. Heavily.

You ran off (the nicest way to describe the nukes you dropped) Newt Gingrich in no small part because of phony, Democrat-cunard “character issues.” You presented Romney as the Perfect Candidate.

If it turns out Romney was hiding something awful, and you didn’t know about it, or even worse — ignored it…well, prepare for a blowback that will finish off your GOP dominance, and probably the Republican Party itself.

Dear CalMark-

Stop with the bs. You’re no Republican conservative. Even Newt is one board with Mitt now.

    Dear FenelonSpoke:

My negative commentary is based on two decades (nine in the military, three in Chicago, the rest in the SF Bay Area) of watching the bad guys win almost 100% of the time. By “bad guys,” I mean corrupt military and civilian officials. (And no, it’s not navel-gazing: most of it has to do with monstrous breaches of propriety and ethics having nothing to do with me.) No matter what they did/do, they seem to get away with it.

Conspiracies (in one case cheerfully admitted to by a JAG who had been “bought off” with career promises), voter fraud, abuse of power, open and brazen corruption: I’ve seen enough of it to write a whole series of books.

My negativity and cynicism are honestly gotten. I don’t mean to annoy people around here. But my observations of the scene have never given me much reason for optimism.

In addition to that… Why is it the press can so easily investigate what Sarah Palin painted in her high school ceramics class, but they can’t report on Sheriff Joe Arpaio’s investigation and proof of multiple forged Obama/Soetoro documents?

    The silence is deafening!

The fecklessness by the GOP ‘establishment’ in chasing down the details of Obama’s fake life is as horrifying as a communist with a falsified mainstream life being elected president.

We’re only as safe as our ‘police department.’ (Those ‘police’ used to include the press. Obviously, not anymore.)

Speaking of unsealing private records, Donald Trump has some info he has said he will reveal later today regarding Obama. Seems he has divorce documents that Michelle filed in 2000. Trump has been married and divorced more times than most of us have, so I think he realizes that a straightforward divorce should not be a major problem for a politician.

However — if Michelle alleged habitual drug use, a sexually transmitted disease, mental or physical abuse of herself or her daughters, or infidelity with an individual or individuals of other than the female gender, it could be, as Vice President Biden would say a “big f—ing deal.”

I should add that the divorce story is a rumor, not something I have confirmed.

Thanks NC Mountain Girl for the link.

If it is the Stemburg divorce, it appears Gloria Allred is slipping.

Ms. Sullivan Stemberg was worth $5 million at the time of the divorce and spent $4 million pursuing the divorce???

Mitt Romney supposedly has no objection to the testimony being unsealed.

Ms. Stemberg lives in an upscale $62,400 a year apartment/condo and her ex-husband pays for her health insurance and has provided for their child via a trust.

How did Gloria Allred land this client?

Will Gloria Allred actually help this women get more alimony/support or is this woman going to be one more female client of Gloria Allred who gets used by Gloria and then ditched when media attention moves on?

Does Gloria Allred really think this is going to impact the election or is she just aggrandizing herself for another 15 minutes of fame?

Does Gloria Allred really care about women? If so, why hasn’t she taken her considerable tenacity, perseverance and pugnacity and moved to African, the Arab world, or South Central Asia, where women get treated like dogs and 12-year-old girls get shot simply for trying to obtain elementary education?

The stench of Democrat desperation is stifling.
