V.P. Announcement Saturday, 9 a.m.

V.P. Announcement Saturday, 9 a.m.

Romney will announce the Veep pick Saturday morning at 9 a.m.

We’ll have coverage here.

The Weekly Standard is calling it for Paul Ryan, which means it’s either Paul Ryan or the Romney campaign ran a really good feint.

NRO is reporting the same:

Take note, veep watchers: Earlier today, a charter plane took off in Boston, stopped in Chicago, then flew to the tiny airport in Janesville, Wis. Janesville, of course, is the hometown of Representative Paul Ryan, a top vice-presidential contender. According to a source on the ground, the plane is still in Wisconsin.

Tomorrow morning, Mitt Romney will visit the USS Wisconsin in Norfolk, Va. For what it’s worth, Ryan is scheduled to be on vacation in Colorado.

You can track unusual charter flights at FlightAware, a useful website.

Is it Ryan? We’ll find out soon enough.

I like Paul Ryan as a VP pick, if it comes to pass.

We have got to have someone replace his leadership in the House.

That’s my worry.

    I know what you mean.

But, for what it is worth, Rep. Burgess, backer of Ted Cruz, was on a local radio talk show here in DFW and talked about Ryan ( Yippie, I can listen to Mark Davis again — sorry WBAP, you lost me to a competitor during that time slot which used to be owned by you ). He said that he felt Paul Ryan would be the best choice because he would soon be term limited out of his leadership role in the House and his voice would be heard in the Senate.

    OUTSTANDING CHOICE!

    * Simply THE Conservative Budget Guru
    * Superior intellect
    * Articulate
    * Sincere to the max — SPEAKS FROM HIS HEART
    * HAS ALREADY PREPARED ECONOMIC “REPAIR” PLANS
    * Photogenic–his YouTube “take down” of BHO’s policies is classic
    * Wisconsin Favorite Son
The list of pluses is almost endless.
    * “No private sector experience”???–NO PROBLEM FOR “the WON who was to heal land and calm seas”–(It’s true he’s not been a “Community Organizer”)

ARISE SONS AND DAUGHTERS OF FREEDOM AND TAKE YOUR STAND AS IN THE OLDEN DAYS!
REJOICE ALL WHO LOVE AND BELIEVE IN AMERICA
OUR FAITH IN OUR FUTURE PRESIDENT IS FURTHER CONFIRMED
AND LET THE SOCIALISTS, STATISTS, COMMUNISTS, AND “LIBERALS” FEAR
    “New Sheriffs coming to town.”

If he made a feint on Ryan to choose Pawlenty he might go down as the most adroitly politically maladroit candidate in history.

If Mitt chooses T-Paw, it will a faint (mine), not a feint. T-Paw, besides being lifeless, is an AGW enthusiast which puts him way up on the stupidity ladder. Surgery, of course, will be required in advance of the formal nomination in order to implant a cardiac defibrillator in the chest of the former Minnesota governor. Although I have had personal experience getting a dead man elected to office, I judge that Timmy is undeserving of such an effort.

Ryan’s a good guy and can think on his feet in a debate. He’s a factoid addict with charisma, and very much a big picture guy at the same time. He’ll be a bright spot in the campaign.

And again looking at the big picture, Pawlenty is a good guy, too. We can’t all agree all the time. But he knows how to govern and get stuff done pretty well. He’s solid. He can’t help it if he has the personality of a dead carp. At any rate, I wish him well.

If Mitt chooses Ryan I will make another contribution to Mitt.

[…] Of Fire – The Case For VP Marco Rubio Update: Premature ejaculation. Couldn’t this have waited until Monday after the Olympics and the weekend? Breaking: Romney to announce VP pick tomorrow at 9 […]

I’m looking forward to a Vice-Presidential debate between Paul Ryan and Joe Biden. It’ll be no nonsense vs. doesn’t have any (sense that is).

NBCs Chuckie T and Andrea the tool broke into Olympic coverage to call for Ryan.

1. Intrade basically says it’s Ryan.

2. I like the apparent choice. It attracts Catholics and white ethnics, i.e. Reagan Democrats. His family owns a construction business so he can speak working people’s language. An obviously bright guy, wonky but personable, who did not attend an elite university; the voters might notice that.

3. Ryan is young and vigorous. I suspect he could handle Hillary in a debate if Obama gets that desperate (which I doubt).

4. The Left, ever telegraphing what they fear, has depicted Ryan as a Prince of Darkness. The apparent Ryan pick signals that Romney is daring the Left to take their best cheap shots and that he intends to fight all-out.

5. It is a pretty good rule of thumb that when Republicans make a clear distinction between themselves and Democrats, they win. The apparent pick should restore the enthusiasm and momentum that existed before the Obamacare decision.

6. As was true for McCain, the pick shows Romney to advantage as a risk-taker: a leader, not a drab guy in a green eyeshade. I expect the Romney/Ryan team to consolidate the advantage far better than the McCain team did (not saying much).

7. If you’ve watched the Left fight dirty, you’ve seen nothing yet. Wait till Ryan is announced. The media will go all-out to discredit the ticket before it gets rolling. Cf. what they did to Palin. If we successfully resist their recklessness, as I believe we will, the recklessness will backfire.

As long as Steve Schmidt isn’t assigned to Ryan’s team.

    Your Hitlery comment is interesting.

My Left of Lenin sibling is very active in local DNC politics, and she hears that with Bubba Clinton speaking at the convention in the traditional VP slot, that this very thing might be afoot.

    We might see a Prez-O-Bama / Crazy-Pantsuit-Liar ticket.

Anyone left standing up after Mitt’s murder spree will be pushed over the cliff by Paul. 🙂

Just how much more can they be demonized?

Could be fun.

And then Allen West will knock out their wife and kids…

BannedbytheGuardian in reply to VetHusbandFather. | August 11, 2012 at 1:51 am

Not before they are taken as hostage by Mitt’s El Savadorean “business partners’. The ransom is a $350 bottle of wine & ChikFilAs.

We could get our own story going here.

Well yes . West is a Georgia native & we know Georgia forbade Cree & Cherokee from owning gold in the early 1800s . .Furthermore The Indians knew where the gold was & even then could sell their knowledge. Therefore they had to be removed & on to The Trail Of Tears . (all true).

Then as the Bee Gees sang -“This is where I come in “. Liz!

phew -you threw me a line there but I caught it !

Check Ace. That’s all I have to say.

He’ll probably pick McCain.

If Romney picks Ryan (which, it seems, is the case), it an excellent choice. The Ryan pick illustrates that Romney is serious about turning the US economy around. It’s going to be painful, but necessary. And we will be better off in the long run.

ROMNEY/RYAN 2012!!!!

“The Romney Plan For A Stronger Middle Class” (that’s the tag for his upcoming bus tour – the tag alone will cause liberal heads to explode).

So when do the Trolls start shoring up? They’re going to try to tie Ryan to Chick-fil-A now.

YAAAAAAY!!!!!!!!!! I love this! Now we can finally talk about things that matter like throwing grandma off the cliff (As a matter of fact, I think I am going to post that ad on my facebook page to annoy my lefty friends)! So much better than whether Mitt gives people cancer!

How is Obama going to divert the public’s attention away from himself now with Mr. Seriousness as the VP choice!? THIS IS AWESOME!!

VetHusbandFather in reply to heimdall. | August 11, 2012 at 1:58 am

They’ll continue to say that Romney/Ryan are trying to throw grandma off the cliff with their budget plan. To which the easy response will be ‘Hey, at least we have a budget plan’.

This is the best way to get Obama’s team to talk about the economy inadvertently because they will want to smear and demagogue the Ryan plan, which gives the Republicans a chance to talk about the #1 issue for voters and show how ill prepared to discuss it the democrats really are. Could make this election into a big win for Romney/Ryan (has the possibility for a Goldwater blowout too, but go big or go home!!)

A Ryan pick would at least get me to the polls with a little bit of enthusiasm. I’m really tired of voting against democrats instead of voting for republicans.

Huh…

I didn’t think Mitt had it in him. Very good. Very good, indeed.

Ryan is just the kind of guy I would want to see on the ticket; he is a very bright man, a man you can easily see as being president “in a heartbeat”, or four to eight years from now.

Now with that kind of fearless decision making can we expect similar picks for a Romney cabinet?

State – John Bolton
AG – Andy McCarthy
Defense – Allen West
Interior – Sarah Palin
Energy – Sarah Palin (just imagine what we could do if we coordinated the two departments)

Feel free to add your own.

You could round out the rest with current Bain Capital executives, told to either turn the departments around or close them and sell them off.

    Press Secretary: Dennis Miller

    HHS: Tom Coburn

    Homeland Security: Sheriff Joe Arpaio

United Nations Ambassador: A sack of doorknobs

    Start on two Constitutional Amendments:
    –Repeal 17
–Prevent any ratified treaty with an “International NGO or other organization (e.g. UN) from superseding, nullifying, negating or usurping any provision or right enumerated in, or implied by, this document”.

Being this election is about winning, I think the only two candidates giving Romney a boost would be Rubio or Christie.

While I like Ryan, he’s not charismatic, not telegenic, and he’s not tough enough to resonate above the left’s ‘noise.’ Ryan is a cabinet choice, not a V.P. choice. He’ll just play to the base, which will not sufficiently offset Romney’s NOT playing to the base.

In terms of sheer intent to win: Christie is Romney’s man. Rubio, second.

Marco Rubio is the best choice. He is an electrifying speaker who will beat Biden in a one-on-one. Remember Florida? Ryan is a great cabinet choice and is too “vanilla”. Besides, we need him in the House as Speaker in place of Boehner. When we take back the Senate, McConnell must go. Even Scott Brown would be an improvement.

I disagree. I think Ryan is very likeable and attractive. Visually at least, the VP debate would play JFK vs. Nixon: nice-looking Catholic guy vs. goofy guy with hair plugs instead of stubble. Not that the VP debate sways anyone, but I think you underestimate Ryan’s appeal and he could well bring in more than the base.

Me, I’ve been crossing my fingers for Ryan from the beginning, so if the rumours turn out to be true then I will be a happy camper.

There is a whole cadre of excellent men and women on our side of the ticket. Paul Ryan would be a very good choice. He knows his bean counting and is not gutless and meandering like some I know. He knows what it means to be American and is not afraid to say so. I am so tired of Obamalaise.

Mitt’s surrogates, now all of us, need to pound the wack left with constant jabs and right-cross punches just like they portray our brother Allen West. David Axelrod you better cross your legs.

Since Ryan is a fan of Led Zeppelin, I’m sure that by 9:01 am the left will be spinning him as a monster who’s influenced by satanic messages
