Syria threatens to use WMD which are figment of neocons’ imagination

From darling of the anti-Israel Jewish left, Richard Silverstein, Israel Invents Syrian WMD Threat, IDF Commanders Threaten Intervention:

Syria appears to be entering an even more chaotic and dangerous period in its civil war now that Israeli officials are concocting potential threats that must be addressed by Israeli intervention.  The latest series of stories derives from U.S. and Israeli intelligence circles and suggests that Syria has a “vast stockpile” (Wall Street Journal) or “hundreds of tons” (Rupert Murdoch’s Sky News) of chemical weapons that could fall into the hands of Al Qaeda, Iran’s ayatollahs or God knows who, should Bashar al-Assad’s regime fall.  Naturally, Israel would have to protect its interests and intervene to prevent this from happening….

From a diarist at Daily Kos:

For anyone who remembers the WMD story hat started the war in Iraq, they may soon have a dejavu! …

Aha! A dictator with WMDs again. Time for war right? For anyone who forgot the Iraq movie, it seems that there is a repeat of the movie starting in the Wall Street Journal.

It also seems that some people really love wars. After months of an intense propaganda to obviously push for a new intervention and war in Syria, in support of the Saudi backed rebels, it seems that now we have another WMD story.

From a community blog post at Current.com:

The next step is for the US media to claim that the country has, or is willing to obtain “Weapons of Mass Destruction” (WMD).

In this case the lie/distortion of WMD’s using Israeli sources and Israeli intelligence sources operating out of the Pentagon is now being claimed about Syria.

Where have we heard this story before?

From the Assad regime, via USA Today, Syria says it will use chemical weapons if attacked:

The Syrian regime threatened Monday to use its chemical and biological weapons in case of a foreign attack, in its first ever acknowledgement that it possesses weapons of mass destruction.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Jihad Makdissi stressed, however, that Damascus would not use its unconventional arms against its own citizens. The announcement comes as Syria faces international isolation, a tenacious rebellion that has left at least 19,000 people dead and threats by Israel to invade to prevent such weapons from falling into rebel hands.

What is the left going to do if it turns out it wasn’t Bush who lied, it was the Democrats who lied….? They don’t deal with reality well.

For the sake of everyone, I hope this is just a threat and nothing more.

My husband was in Iraq in 2003. Saddam had WMD’s and moved them to Syria. The whole “there were no WMD’s” meme is a LIE.

These idiots won’t believe the truth until they get hit in the face with sarin gas themselves.
Morons.

one problem I see is way to many people ONLY associate wmd with nukes.
they say hussein never had wmds in one breath while acknowledging he gassed all the kurds in the next.
we KNOW he had wmds…and he used them.

This is one of the things that I am VERY IMPOLITE to people about. I ask them if they simply can’t comprehend definitions or if they merely are ignoring reality because one of those two things MUST be true to say that Iraq did not have WMD.

Language and terms are important. Don’t let them change the language of the debate. Make them STICK to the words they use, and then humiliate them for improper use. Tell them that they should be educated about the issues if they want to debate the merits of the underlying policies. The fact that they’re not shows that they’re just parroting discussion by someone else without actually UNDERSTANDING what’s going on.

I remember one… discussion… I had with someone on the web prior to the invasion. I referred to the U.N. website defining WMDs, and the response was pretty much that since conservatives didn’t support the U.N. I shouldn’t be using their definition.

Personally, I prefer the abbreviation NBC (nuclear, biological, chemical). No doubt as to what it covers.

    Hi Tammi,

Saddam managed to get some of the chemical weapons to Syria. US Military teams were coming across caches of weapons which didn’t make it to the convoy and were still stashed away.

Tamminator in reply to Chuck Skinner. | July 23, 2012 at 2:49 pm

Thank you. I didn’t mean to imply that ALL of them got to Syria, but many did. And that was one of the liveliest conversations I ever had with my husband.

Ragspierre in reply to Chuck Skinner. | July 23, 2012 at 3:40 pm

Like any rational people, Saddam’s guys (and gals, we may assume), hi-graded what they removed and what they left.

      New and shiny…Syria.

Old and corroded…depends on how fast the Americans kick our butts.

Saddam managed to get some of the chemical weapons to Syria.

The thing is, there could be warehouses of chemical weapons in Syria – and they could have Made in Iraq by Saddam Hussein stamped all over them – and the Left will still deny WMD ever existed in Iraq, and insist Bush planted them there.

You simply cannot converse with the Left anymore. There’s no sense in even trying.

I hope that the Israelis (by hook or by crook) are able to get control of the WMDs and then can properly destroy them – it’s taken the US years to destroy its stockpiles.

I will give credit where credit is due: My understanding is that Syria has had its own stockpiles of WMD for some decades – they may also have some they got from Saddam (or not) – I don’t have the proof either way in front of me. I suspect the people who know, and the people who make WMD, are leading “interesting” lives right now in Syria – everybody’s going to want to either kill them (to hide the evidence) or capture them (to find out what was done and where the WMD might be).

We spent all that money, and forced our soldiers to train with, and suffer from the heat in, all that chemical gear, for a threat we made up for no reason? Suuuuure.

In 2006, an Israeli general’s comments were backed up by an Iraqi general.

http://www.nysun.com/foreign/iraqs-wmd-secreted-in-syria-sada-says/26514/

The man who served as the no. 2 official in Saddam Hussein’s air force says Iraq moved weapons of mass destruction into Syria before the war by loading the weapons into civilian aircraft in which the passenger seats were removed.

The Iraqi general, Georges Sada, makes the charges in a new book, “Saddam’s Secrets,” released this week. He detailed the transfers in an interview yesterday with The New York Sun.

“There are weapons of mass destruction gone out from Iraq to Syria, and they must be found and returned to safe hands,” Mr. Sada said. “I am confident they were taken over.”

Mr. Sada’s comments come just more than a month after Israel’s top general during Operation Iraqi Freedom, Moshe Yaalon, told the Sun that Saddam “transferred the chemical agents from Iraq to Syria.”

They’ll just do what they did with Iraq… shift the definition of WMD to only include nuclear weapons now that we know they have chemical and biological weapons.

TrooperJohnSmith | July 23, 2012 at 1:16 pm

The only people who’ve never heard that Syria has chemical weapons and Dada-Assad use them on his own people are the Krazy Kos Kidz. But, they can be forgiven, because if their lil’ diaries dealt with reality, they’d be like the rest of us fools!

I’m REALLY getting tired of the continued OUTRIGHT LIE by the liberal loony left that Iraq did not have weapons of mass destruction (WMD).

We KNOW for a fact that they DID have such weapons. WE SOLD SOME OF THEM TO IRAQ DURING THE IRAQ-IRAN WAR. We also know that they acquired OTHERS on their own.

We know for a fact that Hussein used them at Halabja on March 16th, 1988. Further, we saw them used by Saddam Hussein in Southwestern Iraq during the 1991 Gulf War near the an-Najaf-Karbala area. It is WELL DOCUMENTED.

We KNOW that US Military Inspection teams have found MULTIPLE CACHES of Chemical Weapons Shells, sometimes 5,000 or MORE in a single location, although you wouldn’t know it from the Main Stream Moron Press that has absolutely REFUSED to report on it, lest they destroy the narrative of their precious little liberals trashing the Bush administration for “lying” to the public.

This is largely why I publicly call out as an IDIOT any person who says that Iraq didn’t have WMDs. If they try to say “well, I meant they didn’t have nuclear weapons,” then I say to those people “well, you need to be specific, otherwise you sound like an IDIOT, because Iraq DID have Weapons of Mass Destruction and to claim they didn’t just shows your TOTAL IGNORANCE of history.”

The people who blatantly lie merely to push their political agenda deserve to be publicly called out, demeaned, humiliated and exposed for the frauds that they are for trying to push a false narrative.

Ragspierre in reply to Chuck Skinner. | July 23, 2012 at 1:50 pm

Oh, but they were OLD, wimpy WMD, Chuck.

Old and busted. No threat. All neocon paranoia. Shoot, a lil’ mustard gas? Why, you can eat that on a hot-dog.

Saran? Oh, don’t be silly! What’s a little Saran? Why, he could never get to the U.S. Its like you think people bring tons of coke into the U.S., er somethang…

And what does it matter that Saddam was VERY actively projecting that he had WMD? And was spending tens of millions to rejuvenate his WMD programs, and had the UN pirates on the cusp of withdrawing the sanctions against Iraq?

    Such hysteria…!

VetHusbandFather in reply to Chuck Skinner. | July 23, 2012 at 3:37 pm

I completely share your sentiments on this matter. The left changed the rules of the game to only include nukes after we invaded. Yet this meme lives on. I’m curious how the history books will look back on thus whole thing by the time my son is in high school.

“We KNOW for a fact that they DID have such weapons. WE SOLD SOME OF THEM TO IRAQ DURING THE IRAQ-IRAN WAR.”

    Rubbish.

Ragspierre in reply to davod. | July 23, 2012 at 5:08 pm

I dunno that we sold finished munitions to Iraq.

There is ample evidence that we sold technology and “the makings” to Iraq.

      Among other nations…

You can call it rubbish all you want davod, but the documentation is actually QUITE clear on the fact that we DID sell Iraq Chemical Weapons, Biological Weapons and components for both programs, often as “dual use” tech which could be easily weaponized).

CBS actually had a decent piece on the matter in 2009, although they tried to use it as a hit-piece against Donald Rumsfeld as he was acting as a special envoy in 1983. This was when the Leftists were still pushing for “war criminal” charges.

      http://www.cbsnews.com/2100-202_162-534798.html

See also any of the 1992 documents in the “Iraqgate” line of reporting.

Or, see Mark Phythian’s 1997 book “Arming Iraq: How the US and Britain Secretly Built Saddam’s War Machine” (Northeastern University Press).

If you don’t want to believe the above sources, how about Congress. See the Riegle Report (aka the May 25, 1994 report titled “U.S. Chemical and Biological Warfare-Related Dual Use Exports to Iraq and their Possible Impact on the Health Consequences of the Gulf War.”). That report, in relevant part, reads:

Records available from the supplier for the period from 1985 until the present show that during this time, pathogenic (meaning “disease producing”), toxigenic (meaning “poisonous”), and other biological research materials were exported to Iraq pursuant to application and licensing by the U.S. Department of Commerce…. Included in the approved sales are the following biological materials…: Bacillus Anthracis: anthrax…Clostridium Botulinum: a bacterial source of botulinum toxin…Histoplasma Capsulatum: a fungus affecting the lungs…Brucella Melitensis: a bacteria which can cause…damage to major organs…Clostridium Perfringens: a highly toxic bateria which causes gas gangrene.”

So, like I said above, you can call it rubbish, but it means either you’re unable to comprehend the reality of it or you’re willfully blind to the reality of it. There is no third option.

Where do you think Saddam’s chemical weapons went?

A brief video showing partial Libyan stockpiles of chemical weapons secured after the fall of Gaddafi.
It would be less than prudent to believe Syria does not possess the same.

It would be VERY nice if someone on this group, who knew where to find all the public docs, would put together a list of them, and then the Professor would have a page with those links. The hard part is when somebody says “prove it” and then you don’t have a single page with tons of links to all kinds of news-reports, video, etc. I know he had them – I need a nice write-up to prove to others.

It would be good if the US and Russia could work together on this, otherwise we just go on ruining each other’s plans.
Watch the media pick up on this and ignore the connection to WMD.

Richard Aubrey | July 23, 2012 at 3:10 pm

Remember the Iraqui yellow cake? Yes. No. It was simultaneously, not there, the Bush admin did not properly secure it so the locals were being poisoned by it. Simple, by lib standards.

How long before the infantile Kossacks and other internet leftist nitwits claim “Foreign Ministry spokesman Jihad Makdissi” is actually an Israeli agent?

After Gulf War 2: How many tons of yellow cake was found?? How many tons of ‘old’ mustard gas was found?? The Polish Army found several liters of sarin. What could 10 liters do??

Syria threatens to use WMD which are figment of neocons’ imagination

To be fair, they probably didn’t build them. Somebody else made that happen.

The Marines found barrels that had residue of one of the more awfful chemicals, Sarin IIRC, in one of the river towns (Karbala?) they took. Shortly after, there was a humongous unexplained fish kill in the gulf. I’m pretty sure those fish were not killed by our troop transports.

The NY Times is reporting that the Obama Administration is now trying to over throw the Assad regime.

It strikes me that trying to overthrow a crumbling declared bioweapon armed state is a bad idea in the ‘Sampson in the Temple’ sense.

Doing a smash, grab, and leave with extreme prejudice might work…but that is against the NGO Secular Religion of the Obama Administration.

I hate living in a John Ringo novel, and _CENTURION_ at that.
