Insulting our intelligence appears to be Romney’s campaign strategy

As was documented by Jeffrey Lord at The American Spectator, the floor speech Newt gave about Reagan’s “failing” Soviet policy in 1986 was filled with praise for Reagan and the criticisms of the policy raised in the speech were common among conservatives.  The suggestion that Newt was against Reagan or insulting Reagan is a lie.

Yet Romney’s SuperPAC has released another misleading ad taking a few words out of context and trying to make it appear that Newt was anti-Reagan.

Coming from a SuperPAC supporting a candidate who really was anti-Reagan, it’s mighty rich and insulting to the Republican electorate.

Insulting our intelligence seems to be the Romney campaign’s only game plan:

“And Senator Santorum and Speaker Gingrich, they are the very Republicans who acted like Democrats. And when Republicans act like Democrats, they lose.”

As we know, Romney never would act like a Democrat.

Update:  Here’s the banner rolled out by Team Romney to go after Santorum:

Remember, Rick does angry much better than Newt. You have been warned.
