I previously posted regarding Pete Hoekstra’s commercial about jobs being shipped to China, and the cries of racism because an Asian woman played the role of an Asian woman in China in the commercial.
The woman’s identity was outed by a blog called Angry Asian Man, which noted what was about to befall her:
The details about her identity are out there, slowly trickling in. And I imagine Ms. Chan is about to receive a lot of unwanted attention. I actually agonized over whether or not to post this information. I’m not trying to demonize her — people have already done plenty of that, and I think that takes our attention away from the real culprit, Pete Hoekstra and his blatantly racist fear-mongering. And I hope you, good readers, will keep cool heads about this….
I’ve reached out to Lisa through a mutual friend. From what I understand, she feels terrible (and fearful of the fallout) over her participation in this ad.
It’s not hard to imagine what must have been thrown her way.
Now she has issued a public apology via her Facebook page (which appears to have nothing on it as of this writing)(h/t Memeorandum):
“I am deeply sorry for any pain that the character I portrayed brought to my communities. As a recent college grad who has spent time working to improve communities and empower those without a voice, this role is not in any way representative of who I am. It was absolutely a mistake on my part and one that, over time, I hope can be forgiven. I feel horrible about my participation and I am determined to resolve my actions.”

RNC spokesman says chances of brokered convention same as ‘space alien attack’
This sounds a bit … human racist
Yea well, as I recall, this is the same spokesman who invited the news media to what was supposed to be a private RNC conference call, so I don’t place too much value in what he says or thinks.
After the appropriately contrite and tearful public confession of sins against the Statist PC God/Religion and an appropriate penance served in a Leftist re-education camp, Ms. Chan may soon once again rejoin life on the Liberal Plantation as long as she never again strays from the faith.
Nothing like a Lib bull’s eye painted on one’s forehead to elicit the appropriate subservient behavior and obeisance to the ever-watchful Lib Plantation masters who will swiftly identify and mightily smite any infidel ward who gets a bit too uppity and forgets their assigned “place.”
You’re so negative. Look at the positive side… we live in a country where you can still publicly denounce yourself for insufficient sensitivity and after groveling and self debasement be reintegrated and assimilated back into the arms of the collective.
Is this a great country or what.
Yeah, like old USSR joke that actually circulated there, about U.S. lib/socialist-indoctrinated college student talking to Russian citizen:
Student: Is it true the Soviet Constitution guarantees freedom of speech?
Russian: Da, we have freedom of speech, but it is different than in America.
Student: How so?
Russian: In America you also have freedom AFTER speech!
….so far at least…
Like Yakof Smirnoff would say, “What a country!”
Oh Jeeeez ….
I think I can speak for my 20-year-old daughter who is 1/2 Asian … 3/8 Japanese and 1/8 Korean … as well as 1/4 German, 1/8 Czech, 1/16 Jewish and 1/16 French …
… or as they say in Hawaiian pidgin English, “Chop Suey” or “Kapakahi.”
I think I can speak for my daughter, who would say to the people criticizing this girl, and the girl herself, if she’s truly feeling remorse for having done nothing wrong,
“Get a life and get a sense of humor!!!
“Chop Suey” (scroll to the bottom of the page) as well as “Cho-Cho Lips.” Want a hilarious anti-PC book? “Pidgin To Da Max,” a cartoon illustrated glossary of Hawaiian pidgin English is a wonderful little book.
LukeHandCool (who, as a kid, imagined adults had all the answers. And who, now that he’s almost fully grown up, realizes they are the most messed-up people on the planet. Get a life, people!)
Actually, it looks like you can scroll down and read a good deal of the book for free.
Ah, the rank odor of Political Correctness.
Are you feeling better Lisa, now that you got that burden off your chest?
1. She is a Berkeley sociology major, perhaps not smart enough for STEM or perhaps not smart enough for an elite law school. In that situation, joining the victim class could be a good career move.
2. My political views are my own business. I am an actress. The ad was a job. No offense was intended; if offense was taken, that’s not my lookout.
That I would respect. Unfortunately she didn’t say it.
If this lady is an actress, she probably had to do the mea culpa or she would never get a job again.
Sad, but oh, so predictible. The liberal left control the arts and media these days. Very, very few are able to keep their political views, religious preference, and private life from being “outed” if they make the “wrong” choice in the acting role they accept. Even they are usually marginalized.
(I remember in the movie Tootsie when Dustin Hoffman lectured – and lectured! – his acting class that if you’re not working, your not honing your craft, your not acting – whatever the role (he took a job as a tomato). But……that was 1982. Now if you work – but it is the “wrong” role – you become a target of the Hollywood PC Inquisition. Progress?! More like Progressive group-think!)
Tolerance? Acceptance? Riiiiiiight.
It’s barely tolerable when the left goes all Alinsky on famous/notorious people, but going after the “little” guy is beyond excuse.
Google has seen fit to put three dating-service ads on this page. Maybe our host should diversify into matchmaking.
I’m sorry, but this is ridiculous. Who was supposed to play an Asian character? A WASP? Those critics should get a life!
because what adveriser wouldn’t want to hire an actor who will turn around and publicly denounce the product you paid her to promote.
So, basically all issues of merit are off the table?
This is why nothing will ever change. We live in an effectively totalitarian state. Well, this too is the market. A rather perverse manifestation.
I wouldn’t say “This too is the market”. I would say, “This then is the mob.”
There is a fine line that separates the market from the mob. However, since this action is designed to sabotage the market, then it could well be described as conducted by the mob. Not unlike gangsters or mobsters.
If they have such a big problem with the Asian girl in that ad, where was the outrage then when Citizens Against Government Waste released this ad before the 2010 mid-term elections?
Really. Where was the outrage?
Speaking only for myself, I’d have taken the young lady’s remorseful recantation more seriously if she’d also announced that she’d sent the pay she got for doing that gig back to Mr. Hoekstra.
I am now convinced that Newt Gingrich can win the nomination, and following that, the election. Here’s why:
http://wattsupwiththat.com/2012/02/15/some-notes-on-the-heartland-leak/
It turns out that billions — billions with a “b” — have been spent promoting the notion that people are heating up the earth, and the grand total of help to those who disproved this nonsense was 6.5 million.
Not to mention approximately $10 trillion in related private investments.
They initiated a confrontation with Conservatives and we resist to preserve individual dignity. They initiated a confrontation with nature and she resists to preserve the natural order. As children of both orders, we really could not do otherwise. Well, not until we know otherwise.
I feel for the young woman. It must be terrifying to be in the bullseye of liberal tolerance. Remember what happened to the El Coyote restaurant because its manager gave $100 to California Prop 8 efforts?

Maybe all Republican ads in the future should feature life-like animation. Winning the Future for more jobs. WTF.
The animation is a good idea. Use a blank face of ever-changing human skincolor hues for the characters. Make sure there is a disclaimer at the beginning stating that since the left and the DNC will not allow any actors to participate in conservayive media without demonizing them and trying to ruin their careers, animation is being used. Any resemblance of the unemployed or overtaxed characters to real American citizens is strictly coincidental.
Hoekstra should feature her recantation in an ad and ask “Is this the America you want, where confessions are extorted from those who dare to violate the narrative?”
Is this all that different from what the Islamists are doing to silence their critics?
Sounds like a setup from the git-go.
