Christmas greetings, from a President

Christmas greetings, from a President

Hat tip to Sunshine State Sarah for this video of Ronald Reagan’s December 23, 1981 Christmas address to the nation.

There are so many amazing things about this video.  It’s uplifting and depressing at the same time.

When will it be over?

Damn, I miss him. I can’t believe a ‘man’ like Obama soils the same office he held. . .

Soils the office is a gross understatement. Obama has done more damage to our Country than any President in history. I never thought that anyone could be worse than the jackass that President Reagan replaced.
So sad for my children and grandchild.

I am (of course) deeply, mortally offended to see the word “Christmas” in your post. This caused me deep emotional pain and suffering. Christmas is a symbol of racism, imperialism, capitalism, and homophobia, as well as destruction of the environment and the reckless use of transfats (Chairman Mayor Bloomberg will not be pleased with that last one).

Like any progressive citizen of the world I have decided to sue for the sum of one million of your capitalist dollars. It is not the money – I am doing what any true patriot would do, if patriotism were not an obsolete concept created by the greedy 1% to exploit the 99%. And besides – why shouldn’t I get a slice of the action like my one true god Michael Moore? Nothing warms my progressive soul more than to point an accusing finger with one hand while raking in the cash with the other.

However, I could be persuaded to drop my lawsuit for half that amount (small unmarked bills, please).

Thanks. The darkest hour is just before dawn.

There once was an America where a man like this could be President.

    I have a dream………..

Hey Dweety, wasn’t that said by someone else? Just asking! Course, some day we might judge someone by the quality of their own quotes rather than the skill with which they type them!

Cheers and Merry Christmas to some, plus a very Happy Hanukkah to others too!

I miss that old man. It is uplifting to hear someone speak from conviction and depressing to know that there will never be another like him.

Reagan was a man. Obama is a metrosexual.
And the liberals call that progress.
Gag.

I live in predominantly Polish-American town and around this time, you could see Solidarity flags flying from many homes. As a child, I heard words like this from President Reagan and just assumed, based on where I lived, that this was normal discourse by decent people. It never occurred to me that there were leftists the world around who would have actually been angered by Reagan’s tough talk and would have considered him a provocateur.

To see the contrast between a real man like Reagan and the gelding in today’s White House is horribly depressing.

“The graveyards are full of indispensable men.”
– Charles de Gaulle (1890-1970)

Yes, but that’s because they were mortal, not because they were not indispensable.
