Yesterday I noted the accusation by an anti-Israeli LGBT activist writing in The New York Times that Israel engages in “pinkwashing,” the promotion of its not-gay bashing, not-gay stoning, not-gay hating policies to cover up its suppression of Palestinians.
How long before Israel is accused of tanish-pinkwashing for publicizing a recent medical breakthrough by Israeli scientists in creating a new type of artificial pancreas treatment regimen:
Apparently for the first time in the world, a recent research study on children with type 1 (insulin-dependent, juvenile- onset) diabetes aimed at creating an effective artificial pancreas to produce insulin was held not in a hospital but in a hotel.
The clinical trial was conducted by specialists at the Schneider Children’s Medical Center (SCMC) at the Kibbutz Ma’aleh Hahamisha Hotel outside Jerusalem. The prospective, crossover study, in which the whole group receive the treatment but at different times, was part of the three-day DREAM (Diabetes wireless Artificial pancreas consortium) Camp for Children with Diabetes.
It consisted of 18 kids aged 12 to 15 years; nine of them were were connected to the artificial pancreas system on the first night of the camp, while eight were connected on the second night. The benefit of being in a hotel rather than a hospital ward was that the more pleasant, non-threatening environment made the results more accurate.
Tanish-pink washing. Evil, just evil.
You don’t see Hamas, Hezbollah, Islamic Jihad, and the Mullahs in Iran using all their medical breakthroughs for propaganda purposes.
Just another reason to Boycott Divest and Sanction Israel.

Happy and blessed Thanksgiving Day to all.
In 1 2 3 … we are gonna hear how the Juice in that hotel weren’t helping kids but were taking Arab children’s blood to make matzos. Ignore the quacks and invalids.
Israel is a remarkable little country with remarkable people in it. Their advances in medicine will help the baying murderous pack whose children will be healed and who will then turn to bite the hands that healed them.
Life, health, strength, and the peace of God to Israel.
Happy Thanksgiving …
Happy Thanksgiving!
The anti-Israel LGBT people are clearly insane and filled with hate. Iran, where gay teens are hung from building cranes…eh. Israel, where there is a large and boisterous gay pride parade in Tel Aviv…eh.
And don’t forget the apartheid!
Oh wait…I sat with my family in the Malcha mall in Jerusalem, about a year ago…place was filled to the brim with shoppers…religious Jews…non-religious Jews…Christians…and…gasp…Arab Muslims. In fact, we sat next to a family of Arab Muslims, our kids smiled at their kids and their kids smiled back. We were all eating from the same food court (it happened to be all kosher), and all getting along. No one harassed the Arab family, or the numerous Arab shoppers I saw at the mall. They were put through metal detectors and purses/bags opened at security, before being allowed IN the mall…but golly gee, we were subjected to the exact same procedures as they were.
BTW, Professor, thanks specifically for this article. My daughter is a Type 1 diabetic, and we’re hoping for anything that will make it easier to control and lessen the potential complications.
Israel IS a remarkable place. I wonder how much more incredibly productive they would be (I think I read they are no. 1 or 2 in the world in terms of patents per person) if they did not have to spend inordinate amounts on security? But the amazing thing is the huge no. of inventions and as mentioned patents in the fields of agriculture and chemistry and medicine and other life sciences.
Egypt? They make some nice sheets. Syria? Jordan? Lebanon? What do any of them make or discover? Saudi has oil; otherwise, it is bereft of any benefit to the world as far as I can tell.
Well, it’s just about time.
Two or three years ago there was a minor skirmish between the Israelis and some Palestinian terrorists like you read about all the time. Once again the media was talking about Israel being “disproportionate” in its response. I was sitting beside the anarchist-hipster in our office and he said out loud that this was the last straw … that Israel had gone too far for the last time … that this would finally unite world opinion against the “terrorist” state of Israel.
I said something like, “In a couple months you won’t even be able to tell me what this was all about … it’s a minor, minor episode.” I then gave him the line (not original with me … I’ve heard it a few times) that if the Palestinians put down their arms, there would be peace. But if the Israelis unilaterally disarmed, they’d be slaughtered.
Right on cue he said the Israelis would drive the Palestinians into the sea if the Palestinians unilaterally disarmed. How ridiculous, I told him. Does anyone really think it would take much more than a day or two for the Israeli military to drive the Palestinians into the sea if they chose to go absolutely Roman on them?
With some of these people it’s pure hatred of Israel, with some it’s the complete inability to think logically (hence the often anti-Israel artsy-fartsy types like him) and with most it’s a combination, I believe.
So, I guess it’s time to ask, “Hey, remember a couple years ago you said it was a complete game-changing moment like no other …?”
Nah. I’ll let it go. He takes life and himself sooooo seriously. What a sad, pathetic life he leads. No wonder he can’t utter a single sentence without a tone dripping in arrogant snark.
Happy Thanksgiving to the LI Community and Happy Thanksgiving to our brothers and sisters in Israel (and our brothers and sisters in Taiwan … whom we will NOT use to barter with China).
You’ve got to bring it to him, LHCool. That’s the problem with us Conservatives. We never follow up; we let bygones be. You should bring it to him if only for the sake of protecting Israel against his further absurdities.
I’d like to Juba, my friend, but I don’t want to antagonize him and cause him to solidify his beliefs out of anger.
I try to engage him with good humor (which is hard … he’s such a sarcastic, snarky shmuck) so that hopefully some time in the future he’ll come to his senses and look back and feel I treated him pretty well … it would make his transition to reality easier. I don’t want to humiliate anyone … just help ’em see the light.
I try to relate to him but it’s really hard. He’s a huge movie buff and he and his circle of friends film short skits and are trying to get discovered in Hollywood. I tried talking movies with him once and in the span of 10 minutes he told me how three or four directors and producers we were talking about were supposedly “racist.” Typical lefty … he sees racism everywhere. Being able to speak Japanese, I told him how funny I found Sean Connery’s accent when he spoke Japanese in a movie … he chalked it up to that producer being racist (???) It’s agonizing trying to have a conversation with someone who holds such a worldview … that pretty much everything that happens in the world can be traced back to racism and the supposed evil that is America and Israel.
I’ll keep working on him … and all the other young birdbrains I come across.
This guy doesn’t beat around the bush
He doesn’t beat around the bush and he speaks the whole truth and nothing but the truth. I will never understand where this Jew hatred is coming from. And the pecular thing is that there are not that many Jews left in Europe. Someone once told me that Jews are hated by the western countries because they killed Christ. History and the Bible tell a differnet story. The hatred for Jews by the Arabs is somewhat understandable. Or at least we know why. This animosity goes back thousands of years. It’s really too bad that the arabs can’t join the rest of us in the 21st century but are stuck not in the 7th century but in 1000 bc.
The hatred of Jews in Europe goes back to their place in society. They were the original bankers when Christians weren’t allowed to charge interest; they built merchant and jewelry and tailoring businesses, because they could not own land. The rich and aristocrats hated them because they continually owed them money for jewelry, clothing, loans, and other goods, and convinced the peasants that the Jews were horrible people. A few pogroms were all that were needed to expiate debt, until the cycle started all over again.
The US did not have such burdens and anti-Jewish sentiment is a fraction of what it was in the Old Country.

“…the promotion of its not-gay bashing, not-gay stoning, not-gay hating policies to cover up its suppression of Palestinians…”
Jews have been hated for centuries. Israel and the U.S. are the only two countries in the world where they can live in peace and prosperity. How can the NYT print such garbage when evidence all around show the real medical and humanitarian progress Israeli have given to the world? Examples:”…IDF Treats PA Children with Cancer to Zoo Trip

Israeli medical research on prostate cancer is world class and cutting edge: http://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/135142#.TtEeYFnN6So
“…Teva Pharmaceutical Industries, Ltd., says it plans to spend $60 million plus an equity investment on a new cancer-fighting treatment. The experimental drug, custirsen sodium (OGX-011), is set to enter Phase III clinical trials in 2010 and early 2011.
The Israeli pharmaceutical giant has just entered a global licensing and collaboration agreement for the new medication with Washington and Vancouver-based OncoGenex Pharmaceuticals, Inc. The new medication has already completed a successful Phase II program in patients with advanced prostate cancer and advanced non-small cell lung cancer. The two companies will collaborate together on a global Phase III clinical trial in patients with the same diagnoses. Researchers are also hoping to use the new treatment to boost the effectiveness of chemotherapy…”
A friend had to undergo surgery in Israel and was just amazed at the reasonable costs and professional treatment. He said he was put on the non-Jewish wing with the Arabs and commented on how well the Arab patients were treated. The Israelis are the only ones in the Middle East who are living humanely. The transgender gay lib NYT writer would not live 30 seconds in a muslim society, reprobates are not tolerated in Islam.
