Person Tweeting Death Wish For Palin Now Wants Privacy

Person Tweeting Death Wish For Palin Now Wants Privacy

I linked earlier to a YouTube video montage of death wishes tweeted about Sarah Palin after various bloggers maliciously linked Palin’s electoral target map to the Tucson shooting.

Now YouTube is threatening to pull the video because one of the people who sent a tweet has complained that the video violates her privacy.

According to the YouTube notice, which appears at Big Journalism (h/t Aaron Worthing at Patterico), the person whose tweet appears at 1:50 of the video is the person who complained.  Here is the screen shot at 1:50:

I have no idea what YouTube will do, but it does seem odd that someone would sent a death wish into the Twitter universe and then claim privacy.

There are two principles at issue.  First, there is no expectation of privacy as to death wishes.  Second, there is no expectation of privacy on Twitter.

Sorry lady, you’ll have to live with the consequences of your Tweet, because even if YouTube takes down the video, we all have screen shots.

Which brings me to a third principle.  You can’t take it back on the internet.

Update:  YouTube removed the video.  All of the screenshots have been saved by a reader, and are available here and also at Patterico.  A new location for the video will be linked once available.

Here is the video:

Palin Death Wish Tweets Re Tucson Shooting from Legal Insurrection on Vimeo.

Update 1-13-2011:  Per Aaron Worthing, two of the persons (including Moriah Jovan) who sent tweets in the video assert that the tweets are not what they seem, and that they were mocking the death wishes, not making them.

Twitter seems to be very effective, in a raw Darwinian sort of way, at identifying the true morons, doesn't it?

http://libertyatstake.blogspot.com/
"Because the Only Good Progressive is a Failed Progressive"

Especially since hundreds of people have downloaded the clip because we are accustomed to how the left operates. We know all about their ability to scrub evidence of their psychotic partisan actions.
I'm one of the hundreds.

"Which brings me to a third principle. You can't take it back on the internet." Now that's something very few folks seem to think about before they speak, write, post, tweet, upload and everything else.

I posted each of the tweets captured by screenshot individually from that video to my Twitpic account, with '@' replies to each utterer. Found a couple 'friendly fire' errors; the @MoriahJovan and the @zozstar simply failed to sign their intent correctly. Damned if I was going to research each tweeter's stream; took me long enough to do what I did.

Oh, and hilarity did ensue. ;D

I guess people just dont expect others to scour the internet for posts that were probably posted in a moment of hate or rare or perhaps even…I know its a stretch…as sarcasm or a joke. It really is funny yet pathetic that someone went through all the trouble to gather so many posts about wishing for palin's death like it actually means something or something will actually come of it. This person youre mocking probably thinks of twitter as something like facebook. something you only share with your friends, family whatever. Frankly I thought the same thing before all this happened. So at least in his/her mind the thoughts that were written out were private. So you can imagine how lost and betrayed he/she may feel now that thousands more have probably seen that post. I think the video is wrong and a waste. The people behind it could make a better point by speaking/writing about the way people are trying to crucify Palin rather than committing the very same crime against those who did it to Palin. You dont see me making videos of all the ignorant hateful things people say to me or about obama or anyone do you? I dont think anyone wants to truly blame Palin for the attack. We just want her to admit she was wrong in the design of her target hit list whatever map. The fact that she wont acknowledge it is plain moronic.

Looks like she got her wish. The video has been removed.

I hope those of you who downloaded the clip will make sure that it continues to be posted on the internet.

Imagine if Palin or Beck had tweeted 'target Giffords' before the election….that tweet would be on every leftist website clamoring for justice and this freak would be going berserk demanding retribution. redheadonfire2 is pwned and doesnt like it.

So, Adam (if that's actually your name), what (unredacted) incivilities have you been posting to twitter?

Yeah, Adam, we know what you want, and we know it's limited to Palin, and doesn't include any of the other countless times the same or similar imagery was used in the exact same context.

No sale.

Mister Snitch! | January 12, 2011 at 11:39 pm

"I dont think anyone wants to truly blame Palin for the attack. We just want her to admit she was wrong in the design of her target hit list whatever map. The fact that she wont acknowledge it is plain moronic."

So: Palin should 'apologize' (for a MAP) even though she never said 'Hey! Here's a person who should be killed!' Yet when someone says EXACTLY that about Palin, it's 'pathetic' to even take note of it.

And I notice, Adam, that you're not demanding any apology from 'redhead'. Guess it's "free speech" to say "Kill Palin", but it's Reprehensible Hate Speech to say "Target a Democrat". That the way it works, boyo?

Yeah. No hypocrisy here.

"We just want her to admit she was wrong in the design of her target hit list whatever map. The fact that she wont acknowledge it is plain moronic."

Wow. You realize Palin's hardly the first to use the word or the symbol "target" during a political campaign? And that someone on Kos used it in reference to Giffords just days before the shooting?

And how about Obama's "hit back twice as hard" and "they use a knife; we use a gun" comments? Are you as upset about them?

Now she's complaining about being targeted by crazies.

I don't think I can take much more of this hyperloaded irony we've had for the last few days!

Adam, grow up. Maybe some people NEED a slap in the face (or is that "eliminationist rhetoric"?) to get them to THINK before hitting the "send" button. The woman has NO standing to complain about anything whatsoever. If she really only wanted a few people to see, she should damn well have used email. It isn't that hard.

As for Palin's "target whatever thing", it's no worse than what they show repeatedly on network and cable news each and every damn election season, for both sides. If that's the worst thing you can find to say about Palin, then I assume you would vote for her if she ran for president.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=exYDpN2iVpA

I reposted the video on youtube.

I'll repost it again and again if I need to.

I had already uploaded it. I felt it needed a soundtrack:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3s4YfBKs39Y

Snitch, the point I'm trying to make through my various comments on here is that free speech has its limitations in varying circumstances. i.e. saying bomb on a plane. There is a difference, in my eyes at least, between me or any other nobody (no offense to those nobodies) on the internet saying something reprehensible and Sarah Palin the former governor/VP candidate saying or doing or posting something reprehensible. She is in the spotlight, not me and not the people in this video of twitter posts. The posts are obscure and probably hardly followed compared to the MASS following of Palin by republicans and tea party members alike. She should know better than to post a map with targets. I dont even care about the rhetoric. It's the imagery on top of it all that brings shooting to mind. That should not be a first thought of anyone looking at a map made by such a person.

I think the video is wrong and a waste. The people behind it could make a better point by speaking/writing about the way people are trying to crucify Palin rather than committing the very same crime against those who did it to Palin.

Palin supporters "committed the crime" of quoting, which is a concise and effective way of communicating how the people you're defending were voicing their hopes for the painful violent deaths of Sarah Palin and her family.

Believe me Dan, I have plenty to disagree with regarding Palin. Including her undying need to jam religion into nearly every speech or point she makes. Her us of the word "maverick" while running for VP. Her plain and obvious stupidity when it comes to….well almost anything, but most of all the fact that she answer the simple question of "what newspapers or magazines do you read?" She is essentially a female george bush…good luck with that if she ever does obtain a high office haha. I really dont have anything personally against her. I just think she is pretty dumb and is constantly grasping for attention ever since she became the VP candidate. Cuz god knows no one knew who the hell she was before then. I can see how obama could go from being generally unknown to famouss and popular….but her? I just dont get it.

Well…the Romans had the same problem when they chiseled crass comments onto the marble columns back in them thar days. Only that iron was scarce and as a tool was expensive so only the rich or the tradesman had access to it as a tool of communication.

This Redheadonfire2 should feel lucky. Here incivility will only last as long as the electrons retain the state describing her brilliance and that is as long as the computers (many) storing her name are active as long as there is power creating electricity, charging those memory zones.

Stay classy Redheadonfire2. Of course you can always go to Mk 3 in your name and start afresh, but we all know the truth.

p.s. not sure if uploading on vimeo will work out for ya.

Exhibit A: No videos that incite hatred, include hate speech, defamatory or discriminatory speech or videos depicting unlawful acts or extreme violence.

I almost find it funny that she wants to take it back now. Guess what they say about sticks and stones and words never hurting isn't true.

geekwarrior

you should have used a different song. i am thinking, "Give peace a chance."

"We just want her to admit she was wrong in the design of her target hit list whatever map."

So you want her to lie? And people think Palin is a moron, lol.

She should know better than to post a map with targets.

On the other hand, I guess Democrats are too childish to know better.

I guess that's why you singled out Palin as someone who "should know better"?

Your talking points would sound better if you at least pretended they applied to everyone, instead of just to Republicans.

Can't redheadonfire2 be prosecuted? Isn't making a death threat against a public person a crime of some sort?

"It really is funny yet pathetic that someone went through all the trouble to gather so many posts about wishing for palin's death like it actually means something . . . "

We just spent three days listening to your buddies tell us that her little graphic map was completely outrageous and off the wall and most likely induced someone into committing mass murder, and that Ms. Palin should have obviously known this would happen, and so Ms. Palin has the blood of all of those people on her hands.

So it's interesting – and meaningful – to take a look at what your other buddies are doing in the meantime.

So, go ahead and chuckle about her "plain and obvious stupidity" and continue, please, feeling superior to her. After all, while she was wasting her time being the governor of Alaska and being nominated to be the vice president of the United States, I imagine you were down in your parents' basement running up astounding video game scores that will be remembered long after this civilization has disappeared.

I've reposted the video on my YouTube channel:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vvsuiFUkGVo

Let's see how long it lasts.

Dear little Adam is hurt — yes, hurt and frightened beyond endurance — now that he suddenly realizes that he and the other precious snowflakes of his acquaintance will be held accountable for their actions…something that not only includes paying their student loans, but may involve very uncomfortable interviews with law enforceent about the vitriol that they spew on Twitter and Facebook.

Once you put it out there, you can't take it back. It's the one thing I've drummed into my 14 year old Granddaughter's head after we bought her a cell phone. Texts, pictures, once you hit send, it's out of your hands. My advice to her was, if it's not something you would send to me or your Grandmother, then it's probably not a good thing.

Mike

People like Adam always amuse me. They insist that they are smarter than Sarah Palin despite never having governed a state, led a political movement, nor written even one best-selling book. Each of these is an extraordinary accomplishment on its own, and Sarah Palin has done all three.

Adam's greatest life accomplishment is whining in the comments section of a blog, but he is sure he is SO MUCH SMARTER than Sarah Palin. It's kind of hilarious when you think about it.

Concerned Adam is so smart, he doesn't know how Twitter works. Concerned Adam is so smart, he forgot about the existence of the first amendment. Concerned Adam is so smart, he thinks that Sarah Palin was the first to use political metaphors like "target." Really, though, Concerned Adam just wants people like Sarah Palin to please shut up.

"If they bring a knife to the fight, we bring a gun." – Barack Obama, 6/13/08

(Note to Adam – I know this may be difficult for you to understand, but Barack Obama didn't actually mean for his followers to bring a gun. Just wanted to make sure that was clear for you.)

"Anybody who took my tweet about wishing Palin was shot instead of Giffords seriously is nuts….I would never hurt anybody.I was just angry."

~redheadonfire2

Wasn't Loughman just angry?

BTW is this psych major redheadonfire2/Lauren B of UOP?

http://web.pacific.edu/College-of-the-Pacific/Departments-and-Programs/Psychology.html

Why does she still have her twitter page up?

Weird. She's obsessed with John Stamos and other celebs:

http://is.gd/NSNE0m

University of the Pacific, California

http://twitpic.com/2it3p0

hmmm…

Maybe she's just a stupid young lady who tweets before she thinks:

the bright ideas of a teenage virtuoso

Lauren Bendik… Not just a hate-filled lib? Hope she learned a lesson.

Meanwhile, James Wolcott, the "I root for hurricanes" guy, continues to blame the shooting on the Right. Possibly the most unreflective "intellectual" in New York, he simultaneously continues to demonize the right in his blog at Vanity Fair. Should I root for incontinent ocicats? 🙂

I don't believe anyone is REALLY upset that Palin used a map to target certain districts during an election campaign. This has been the way such things are done since the beginning of democracy. X's, cross hairs, target symbols, surveyors marks, red dots have all been used and will continue to be used. Even the word "campaign" is a military term. You would have to a total retard to think such things are not common. Palin could make a statement as unremarkable as "the sky is blue" and people like Adam would be up in arms that she is stupid to say such a thing since the sky is all sorts of colors at sunset and is black at night etc…

What drives the left crazy is that Palin really is about as pure in her rhetoric, personal life and morals as a politician can be. There is nothing to attack her with. Adam had a list of vague grievances, none of which were true or amounted to anything of significance. So what are he and his kind left with… well she's stupid. My 7 year old argues the same way.

Give Peace a Chance was too obvious. I felt Imagine was more death-hippy any way.

I wonder if I should drive out to UOP and see if Lauren B really wishes death on Sarah Palin, and se if she's really so stupid as to think that Twitter is a private medium.

I've also archived both of the Hate Sarah Palin videos (and the Loughner insanity (IN HIGH DEF!!!!)) at http://www.youtube.com/user/smokeybehr

"You can't take it back on the internet."

Very true, but it's wider than that. Nothing goes away anymore, as Garfinkel noted in "Database Nation"

She is really just a kid. I took her to task on the Youtube thread, but now I feel kinda bad about it; I was working on the asssumption I was dealing with hate-filled adults.
Perhaps she can learn from this and grow up.

"It really is funny yet pathetic that someone went through all the trouble to gather so many posts about wishing for palin's death like it actually means something . . . "

It is revealing this complaint would be made. 10 years ago a lady began posting highly inflammatory comments about myself and another man. This was hundreds of posts over 3 years buried in about 20,000 other posts. I searched them all and printed off her hundreds and gave them to her governing board with a threat of a lawsuit. She was fired.

The relationship here to Adam's comment was her claim that I must be crazy, and thus wrong, because no one would take the time to search to this extent unless they were somehow obsessed and therefore wrong.

This shows the ignorance of many on the Left as to what they are up against. Even 10 years ago it was a fairly simple matter to design a search method based on her name that got me all I wanted in a matter of a couple hours.

I know Adam doesn't see it but I believe even most everyone doesn't appreciate how completely computers and the Internet are changing and eliminating the Lefts control of information.

No wonder they want Net Neutrality. Once they lose control of the narrative they lose control everywhere. This whole Palin episode shows you ain't seen nothing yet.

Prediction: Lauren B (redheadonfire2) and or the media will start playing the bullying card. Look at all this internet bullying by conservatives! The poor thing is frightened for her life! She can't leave the house! etc.

Rightklik – well, Loughner certainly was NUTS.

Isn't the theory that violent rhetoric (not literally meant) encourages nuts to act?

@redheadonfire2 or whatever her name is apparently oblivious to the irony of her complaint.

Saying someone is stupid when….the are….isn't that childish. I mean she came out of left field when she became VP candidate. It was basically a desperation move by the republicans to get someone who can rally all the dumbasses of the country behind the republican party and behind her and her cutsie hockey mom ways. I bet she didnt even write her damn book. Honestly. The fact that it was a best seller…well frankly thats not up to the writing is it? Its up to her moron followers buying millions of copies. Doesnt mean its a good book. Thanks for showing me that 90% of the people on this site probably did buy that book. I dont think I have to put 2 and 2 together to say what that says about you all…

Also, gathering all the twitter screenshots and putting them up doesnt make u wrong. I never said that. Just makes you or whoever did it pathetic because it really is useless and ultimately is most likely harmless. It's so funny that some people actually think the Palin haters are going to get a visit or a letter or a call from local police…or maybe if they are REAL lucky the FBI! Nothing is going to happen to anyone. Nothing that was said was a real threat. You people still have not responded to the MAIN argument that Palin is in prime time public view practically 24/7. I mean for gods sake she has a TV show now. Who are people more likely to look to for guidance or instruction in their life and politics in their life? A couple twitter people followed by a handful? Or Palin who is followed by millions? It may be dumb and irresponsible for people on twitter to do what they did. But that irresponsibility is magnified significantly when you are such a public figure. A former VP candidate. Posting a map with CROSSHAIRS is not a good idea. It may have no link but we have to recognize that if that happens again it could have consequences. I think Palin was actually smart enough to realize that since the map was taken down an hour after the shooting. Scratch that….she probably didnt even realize that happened. Prob had whoevers in charge of the website do it. She needs to just realize that people in high profile positions need to be more cautious in their words than random people on twitter. SHE wants to be famous SHE wants to be known so SHE has to act accordingly and take responsibility.

> There is a difference, in my eyes at least, between me or any other nobody (no offense to those nobodies) on the internet saying something reprehensible and Sarah Palin the former governor/VP candidate saying or doing or posting something reprehensible.

What definition of "nobody" are we using?

I ask because using targets is ubiquitous in campaign literature. The DNC does it, so does the DSCC, every state party, and so on. (So do their Repub counterparts.)

Here's an example from Dem congressman, saying that a repub candidate should be shot.

http://thetimes-tribune.com/opinion/editorials-columns/roderick-random/kanjorski-ponders-nuts-bolts-from-blue-1.1052739#axzz1A4hLabIP
/11/paul-kanjorski-rick-scott-shot_n_807608.html

So, who, besides Palin, is not a "nobody"? Be precise, so we can check whether they've used the imagery that Adam condemns.

So @Adam, will you tell us, were you one of the people sending out the Palin death wish tweets?

Someone back in the days before electricity said words to the effect of "Never send a letter, never destroy one you receive".

Again, yes I am one of the twitter people. But should that really matter Mr. Jacobson?

It matters a great deal when the author of death threats suggests that someone else is stupid or insufficiently civil.

It confirms they have no credibility.

Hoist on something Adam?

yeaaa, only problem is that my twitter post was not a death threat. I do not wish for death on anyone really. I just wish Palin would go away. Stop stirring the pot and causing all of this idiotic trouble. She does nothing but cause trouble and fuel a fire that needs to be put out or put to better use. Like rebuilding this country.

> You people still have not responded to the MAIN argument that Palin is in prime time public view practically 24/7.

Actually, we have. We're still waiting for Adam to identify other folks/organizations who are not "nobody" so we can see if her use of target imagery is as unique as his argument requires.

Surely the DNC and DSCC and major state parties are also not "nobody".

I can say after looking at images that the Democrats seemed to use actual tagets such as the one used for the store Target. Palin, however, used the crosshairs of a gun as her target. In my eyes, though the difference seems small, it is still a pretty stark difference. Again, I am not saying she CAUSED the shooting. I am just saying her particular graphic was not a good one. It could have consequences in the future. We have to realize on BOTH sides that unstable people are out there and we have to be careful in what we say and how we say it. On another post I have already apologized for what I said, but I have also said that I am not sarah palin. I dont have people waiting on the edge of their seat for my next words. I dont have nearly 400,000 people following me on twitter and over 5 times that on facebook.

> I can say after looking at images that the Democrats seemed to use actual tagets such as the one used for the store Target.

Look harder.

There's also the Joe Manchin ad where he fires a real gun and says that he's "shooting cap and trade". Kerry also fired a gun in a campaign appearance.

> It could have consequences in the future.

Anything could have consequences in the future, including the tweet storm that Adam participated in.

> We have to realize on BOTH sides that unstable people are out there and we have to be careful in what we say and how we say it.

I wonder how Adam reacted when Bush's press secretary (Ari Fleisher) said basically the same thing after 9/11.

Actually Adam, what Palin used on her map may be properly characterized as surveyor's marks. I've done surveying and target shooting so I know the difference. http://www.moonbattery.com/archives/2011/01/surveyor-symbol.html

Perhaps you should research your facts a little before you "shoot off" your keyboard, eh? Oops, can't say that can I…vitriolic rhetoric and all that.

So much for her privacy.

FoxNews has picked up the story:
http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2011/01/13/palin-targeted-tweets-following-arizona-shooting-massacre/

And they link to another YouTube copy of the video (a remix, with John Lennon music) and the tweet from redheadonfire2 is still there:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3s4YfBKs39Y

Enjoy your 15 minutes of fame, little girl.

>I just wish Palin would go away.

Will no one rid me of this troublesome woman?

'zat what you're saying, Adam? Sounds like a death threat to me.

>Stop stirring the pot and causing all of this idiotic trouble. She does nothing but cause trouble

Yeah, she had the temerity to object to being charged with causing the murder of 6 people, including a 9-year-old and the shooting of others. Being a Republican and (most importantly for the Lords of Tolerance on the left) a woman, she needs to shut up.

Course, if she'd not said anything, the Lords of Tolerance would have said that this proves her guilt.

Basically, what Adam is saying is that Sarah Palin needs to do whatever is best for the political fortunes of the left. That's all that matters to guys like him. That's what makes a "tolerable" Republican.

Snowflake is a footsoldier is the Obamist army: semi-literate, ignorant, unimportant, and ignored. This is why 2010 was so devastating to the Democrats, and why 2012 will be even more so.

and yet here she is holding a gun!

http://twitpic.com/1z70ze

Her tweets are blocked, but her twitpix aren't:

http://twitpic.com/photos/redheadonfire2

Say, is this Snowflake, or another Petulant Leftie with the same name and mental deficiency?
