With Advice Like This, Dems Don’t Need Enemies
Advice to Democrats. The “progressive” agenda is not to blame. Obama is not to blame.
All really would have been well had Martha Coakley achieved Obama’s numbers (duh), according to John Cole at Balloon-Juice:
I know a lot of you are really upset about the loss, but if people want to be honest about what happened tonight, this is not the fault of progressive activists (despite the fact that I am incapable of behaving maturely and insisted on being a jackass on twitter). This is not the fault of the adminstration and Barack Obama, because if Coakley had Obama’s numbers in Mass., she would be the next Senator.
Democrats must not look in the mirror, for they may not like what they see.
No, Democrats need to throw Martha under the rear wheel of the bus and push hard on the pedal as if the only thing getting in the way of the progressive agenda were that thing stuck under the wheel:
This is about an arrogant state party, a horrible and lazy candidate who was unprepared and unmotivated, out of touch with the voters, incapable or unwilling to put in the work and shake the hands and massage the egos and put in the hours, and they got their asses handed to them.
Keep it up. We can’t do it in November without you.

It is time to stop arguing and start jeering.
The nutroots' and leftoid Democrats' literary patron is Humpty Dumpty, who could believe three impossible things before breakfast. They are impervious to reality, because it contradicts their sophomoric theories. It's time to stop trying to convince and start replying to their nonsensical pronunciamentos with pointed fingers and "BUUUUUUUUWAHAHAHA!"
So far, the reaction among the lefties has been simple: "More cowbell!" They think the problem evident in the results from Virginia, New Jersey, and Massachusetts can only be solved if Obama and the Dems finally abandon their "centrist" impulses and move more decisively to the LEFT. Those of us on the right can only hope that whatever these folks are smoking doesn't wear off for at least another nine months.
Unfortunately, it appears that SOME of these guys did not inhale. Jim Webb, Evan Bayh, and even Barney Frank have all made statements in the last twelve hours that are suspiciously rational. Thankfully, Bayh is already being pilloried for his comments, so there's still hope the Dems' slow-motion train wreck will continue.
Right. Everybody I know loves the Louisiana Purchase, the Cornhusker Kickback, and Congress giving us the privilege of paying SEIU's Cadilac tax on their super generous healthcare plans. Overjoyed, in fact.
What happened in MA had nothing to do with the Administration and Reid cutting those non-corrupt great deals for us.
Just let them keep smoking what they're smoking. I'm sure November will work out just fine for them.
BTW, thanks for the live chat thing yesterday, and for putting so much time and effort into the election.
And thanks to the people of MA for doing the right thing.
She didn't do herself any favors, but honestly, BO's numbers aren't what they were (remember we went with Hillary in the primary), so all of this is just sound and fury . . . or denial.
