Detroit Doctor Charged With Female Genital Mutilation

A doctor in the Detroit, Michigan area has been charged with performing female genital mutilation. Her victims were six to eight years old.

Detroit emergency room doctor charged with child genital mutilation
A Henry Ford Hospital emergency room doctor has been arrested and charged in connection to performing female genital mutilation on young girls.
Jumana Nagarwala, 44, of Northville Michigan is accused of performing female genital mutilation on underage girls.
According to a criminal complaint, Nagarwala performed the procedure on girls ages six to eight years old at a medical clinic in Livonia.
Some of the children were brought from out of state for the illegal procedure. Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) is considered the complete removal or partial removal of the clitoris, known as a clitoridectomy. FGM is internationally recognized as a violation of the human rights of women and girls.
Some consider FGM as a religious and cultural practice. The purpose of this illegal practice is to suppress female sexuality in order to reduce sexual pleasure.
In the criminal affidavit, Nagarwala performed FGM on girls who were approximately 7 years old at the time at a clinic in Livonia.

“Despite her oath to care for her patients, Dr. Nagarwala is alleged to have performed horrifying acts of brutality on the most vulnerable victims,” Acting Assistant Attorney General Blanco said in a statement. “The Department of Justice is committed to stopping female genital mutilation in this country, and will use the full power of the law to ensure that no girls suffer such physical and emotional abuse.”
According to the criminal complaint, Nagarwala performed the illegal and severe procedure in a “medical clinic” outside of the hospital, but did not receive payment and did not bill patients. The FBI classified her as a member of a specific religious community. Girls from neighboring Minnesota, at least one who was seven-years-old, were brought by their parents to Nagarwala for the procedure. They were also interviewed by the FBI and could face charges.

This issue has been a tricky one for progressives and feminists. While they fully support the idea of bringing more Muslim refugees to the United States, they’re largely silent on this barbaric practice.
Ayaan Hirsi Ali, who is often maligned by the left, is herself a victim of FGM.

The CDC in Atlanta says 500,000 women and girls in this country are at risk for FGM.
Charge the parents too. Child abuse is a crime.
I would deport them too.
Their belief system is obviously not compatible with our culture and society.
Elections do have consequences.
If the O was still president, she would never have been prosecuted and would probably get some type of award from the White House.
And the US taxpayer would have covered all the “medical” costs.
I’d be willing to bet that among the people who are silent on this are vast hoards of anti-circumcision activists.
They cannot get their heads around the difference between cutting some skin – which might change the way you experience pleasure – and cutting off a clitoris – which would prevent the feeling of pleasure.
A better analogy would be to the practice of Arab slavers of castrating males brought into their countries. They castrated the males and strangled the babies born to female black slaves – despite the fact that they were Muslims. Have you not wondered why there are no blacks in the Arab populations after over a millennium of importing millions of slaves?
Where are the feminists on this issue? Too busy picketing bathrooms to deal with a real issue?
Would it be wrong to remove the clitoral hood? I bet the clitoris would still work afterwards.

This plain and simple terrorism. This idiot should not only be ashamed of herself but should be tried as a terrorist against children. My God! How can a cult of people in the name of religion do such horrible things to their own? If they will do this to their OWN children imagine what they would do to yours?
A not-uncommon practice. Perhaps surprisingly, it’s generally the old women of the tribe who insist that the procedure be universal. As for the old men of the tribe, well, they’re probably like me … determined—and probably wisely—to stay out of it.
Why should it be surprising? They have never experienced sexual pleasure with their husbands and do not understand what they are taking from the young girls.
Only surprising because it runs counter to the venerable tradition of blaming men for everything inflicted on women.

Here is another issue.
These girls were brought from Minnesota to Detroit by their parents to have this committed. It is pretty obvious that they were not wandering around, hospital to hospital, looking for someone to do this. They knew where to go, when to go and who to go to to have it done. They knew what story to tell the girls and were willing to cross state lines to complete the task.
There clearly must be a system or organization set up so that adherents to this barbaric belief can find the butchers they need to mutilate their daughters. It is doubtful that this is the “Doctor’s” first victim.
There is obviously a network here.
So will there be further investigation?
We don’t let other types of religious nuts deny routine, lifesaving medical treatment to their children either.
If these are non-citizens, they must be deported. If these are citizens, their citizenship needs to be revoked, and then they need to be deported.
This idiot’s medical license must be revoked.
She should be in jail long enough that she never, ever has the opportunity to practice medicine again.
US citizenship, once validly obtained, can never be revoked, no matter what the citizen does. It can only be voluntarily renounced.
