Hillary’s Latest Email Defense: Colin Powell Made Me Do It
Grasping at straws
Suuuure. Blame the black man…
During an interview with FBI investigators about her private email address and home-brewed servers, Hillary said it was former Secretary of State Colin Powell that advised her to use a private email account.
From the New York Times:
Pressed by the F.B.I. about her email practices at the State Department, Hillary Clinton told investigators that former Secretary of State Colin L. Powell had advised her to use a personal email account
The account is included in the notes the Federal Bureau of Investigation handed over to Congress on Tuesday, relaying in detail the three-and-a-half-hour interview with Mrs. Clinton in early July that led to the decision by James B. Comey, the bureau’s director, not to pursue criminal charges against her.
Separately, in a 2009 email exchange that also emerged during the F.B.I. questioning, Mrs. Clinton, who had already decided to use private email, asked Mr. Powell about his email practices when he was the nation’s top diplomat under George W. Bush, according to a person with direct knowledge of Mr. Powell’s appearance in the documents, who would not speak for attribution.
The journalist Joe Conason first reported the conversation between Mrs. Clinton and Mr. Powell in his coming book about Bill Clinton’s postpresidency, “Man of the World: The Further Endeavors of Bill Clinton,” which The Times received an advanced copy of.
Mr. Conason describes a conversation in the early months of Mrs. Clinton’s tenure at the State Department at a small dinner party hosted by Madeleine Albright, another former secretary of state, at her home in Washington. Henry Kissinger and Condoleezza Rice also attended.
“Toward the end of the evening, over dessert, Albright asked all of the former secretaries to offer one salient bit of counsel to the nation’s next top diplomat,” Mr. Conason writes. “Powell told her to use her own email, as he had done, except for classified communications, which he had sent and received via a State Department computer.”
Mr. Conason continued, “Saying that his use of personal email had been transformative for the department,” Mr. Powell “thus confirmed a decision she had made months earlier — to keep her personal account and use it for most messages.”
Powell hasn’t confirmed the story, in fact, his office promptly denied the conversation ever took place.
A State Department inspector general report released in May said that Mr. Powell and other senior officials had used personal email accounts for official business, but that by the time Mrs. Clinton took office the rules were clear that using a private server in such a manner was neither allowed nor encouraged because of “significant security risks.”

Repeatedly, Hillary has compared her use of a private email account to Powell’s, but among other discrepancies, Powell never used a home-brewed, security risk prone server, nor was the vast majority of his correspondence deleted by his attorneys.
Nice try, Team Hillary. Nice try.

Yeah, right.
Collin Powell is such a well known nerd and computer expert that he has a computer operating system named after him.
Of course Hellary, who else would you go to for advice on how to use email too.
In fact, I am waiting for Guccifer to fess up finally and admit that he learned all of his totally awesome cyber warfare techniques from the good general himself.
They’ve (hilariously) beating this meme like a rented mule in the comments at Ace of Spades.
I truly believe she has no idea of her own deceit. Most of us have known a chronic liar or two, the kind who lies when the truth would fit better. It probably didn’t occur to Hilly that Powell would NOT cover for her. After all, someone like Sharpton would certainly have her back. [I will be so relieved when this election is OVER.]
Pressed by the F.B.I. about her email practices at the State Department, Hillary Clinton told investigators
Well. Lucky for Hillary that lying to the FBI isn’t a crime.
“Well. Lucky for Hillary that lying to the FBI isn’t a crime.”
Remember, as they used to warn viewers of the “Teen-aged Mutant Ninja Turtles”, these guys are professionals, don’t try these tricks at home.
Why did woman with the cook show go to jail? Lying to the FBI. Loads of people are interviewed by the FBI, make a mistake in what they say, and end up facing the “lying to a Federal Agent” charge.
Myself? I never knowingly tell a lie.
“…woman with the cook show…
Martha Stewart. How quickly and how far the mighty will fall. “…Woman with the cook show…” indeed.
It is a crime to lie to an FBI agent!
18 U.S.C. Section 1001
“Did you know that it is a crime to tell a lie to the federal government? Even if your lie is oral and not under oath? Even if you have received no warnings of any kind? Even if you are not trying to cheat the government out of money? Even if the government is not actually misled by your falsehood? Well it is.”
A crime? Not when Director Comey is conducting the orchestra and Hillary is performing the solo, it isn’t.
Did the noose just tighten a bit?

Hard to see anything tightening. She’ll stall as long as she can, then she’ll lie … and there will be no consequences at all. Standard Clinton playbook.
Probably so. The bloodhounds have been on the Clintons’ trail about so much for all these many years and, yet, the Teflon Couple continue to do it their way.
Annnnddd….Democrat voters still don’t give a damn. In fact, a lot of them probably think whatever she did should have been the right way to do it, and any ‘rules’ she may have broken were wrong to begin with.
She’s Hillary Clinton!
Capone must be so jealous.
“Except for classified communications” was the most important part of his advice, and the part she clearly ignored.
Yeah, of course.
It makes perfect sense.
That’s the way …
I mean …
Because, when you are going to work as Secretary of state, you go looking for advice, right?
And one of the most pressing, most relevant questions or doubts that come to your mind, like the first think you need to clear is like …
“Should I use a personal email to conduct official business … or … uhm … is it better to cook up a server in my bathroom .. or … uhm … what-evah ?”
Typical Clintonista tactic – claim that everyone else does whatever thing they are caught doing. Kind of like an adolescent whining “but Ma all the other kids are doint it!”.
funny how that doesn’t seem to work for Naval sailors who take pictures inside a submarine. Almost like there are two sets of laws….
Suuuure. Blame the black man…
Kudo’s Kemberlee, kudo’s.
Did Hilary as a white woman just say “The black guy did it too.”?
Sounds like racism to me.
