Is San Bernardino attack Paris II?

Is San Bernardino attack Paris II?

Farook and wife had tactical gear and “IED Factory”.

We reported on the San Bernardino mass shooting yesterday, during which 14 people were slaughtered and 17 others wounded while attending a holiday party.

San Bernardino is about 90 miles north of where I live, and the first I heard about the incident was when a series of Facebook emails were sent inquiring if I was alright. I was on my way to my consulting firm, and once there, I discovered a colleague was listening to police scanners. When the reports being broadcast indicated that IED’s had been found, we both said the same thing:

Terrorism.

This is life in the “new normal”. While President Obama was patting climate change activists for their powerful rebuke to ISIS, Syed Rizwan Farook, and his wife Tashfeen Malik apparenlty were organizing an attack involving automatic weapons and tactical military gear.

But officials won’t speculate about a motive:

San Bernardino Police Chief Jarrod Burguan said investigators had not determined a motive for the shooting, in which 17 people were wounded. But an official at the FBI, which is working with local agencies, said he could not rule out terrorism as a motive.

“It is a possibility, but we don’t know that yet, and we aren’t willing to go down that road yet,” said David Bowdich, assistant director in charge of the FBI’s Los Angeles office.

Meanwhile, those of us who are advocates for the Second Amendment braced ourselves for oncoming gun control inanity…and we were not disappointed.

San Diego conservative W.C. Varones offers this perspective on the Farook, a Muslim who worked for the San Bernardino County Public Health Department as a health inspector, as well as the President’s recent remarks:

Obama is yammering about background checks yet again. Which begs the question: is it Muslims who Obama would bar from gun ownership, or government workers?

While neither France’s nor California’s “gun control” measures could have stopped the Paris or San Bernardino attacks, one thing could have: armed citizens. The attackers had time to stop and reload and begin killing again because nobody in the room or nearby had a concealed weapon.

Perhaps that is why Americans are deciding that their preferred version of “gun control” involves actual gun ownership: National Instant Criminal Background Check System processed 185,345 gun background check requests on Black Friday.

Furthermore, California has just about the toughest gun control laws in the country…so, theoretically, this type of slaughter should not be happening in this state. But one aspect of the couple’s arsenal is being conveniently overlooked in the political discussions: The explosive devices.

As chilling details emerged about the Muslim couple who unleashed carnage Wednesday morning in Southern California, storming a social services office in tactical gear and assault rifles, killing 14 at an office gathering before dying hours later in a shootout with police, speculation mounted that the pair left their “IED factory” home hell-bent on jihad.

…”They came prepared to do what they did, as if they were on a mission,” San Bernardino Police Chief Jarrod Burguan said.

A Fox News video details the police response to the explosives, residue of which are similar to materials used by Al-Queda, and more background on the couple:

One disturbing aspect that has been revealed: The couple left their 6-month old daughter in the care of her grandmother before carrying out their attack.

The investigations are continuing, and even more troubling information is sure to be uncovered.

Ever heard of… If it looks like a duck, swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck, then it probably is a duck.

This is an administration of out of touch with reality of the real world!

Remember the Fort Hood shooting, the White House said that was work place violence.

So now this story will be spun for GUN CONTROL! Forget about the terrorism issue.
Shameful!

Murder sprees often begin with the death of someone who is well known to the murderer. It may be a form of target practice.

In this case, the terrorists knew there would be a large number of people in the building, knew the layout and the security and also may have figured that since they were familiar to their victims reactions would be delayed. Where better to begin the extended terror spree they seem to have intended to embark upon?

Attempting to call this workplace violence is akin to saying Adam Lanza was the perpetrator of domestic violence against women because his first victim was his mother.

There’re not out of touch with anything. This is all part of the plan.

Horrible to face, isn’t it? It would have been easier to face long before we tolerated Mittens as the 2012 candidate and Boehner holding office at all.

So now, ask why McConnell still has a key to his office, and why Pee Wee Prebus still has a job.

” … long before we tolerated Mittens as the 2012 candidate” — Given that the majority of your fellow Republicans voted for Romney in the primaries, what would have been the alternative to “tolerating” him as the candidate? Rioting at the convention? Or sitting out the general election in pique that “the GOP” didn’t “give us a better candidate”?

Most of the time, the candidate in the general will not be your first choice, so your options then are: help stop the worst choice; or help the worst choice win.

As I predicted a few days back…and idiots castigated me for…these kinds of attacks are going to happen here.

They will…as was this one…often be carried out by people born and bred here.

No “wall” will stop them.

Castigated? Damn….. do you have a sudden partiality to the color mauve?

No will, either. (At least among our “betters”.)

… and idiots castigated me for

Can you link to that? Because it’s not an original opinion.

Mannie in reply to Ragspierre. | December 4, 2015 at 9:01 am

It is a foregone conclusion that terroristic attacks will happen here, and that some of the perps will be domestic moslems. That is no reason to let the rest of them in, though. The more moslems there are in society, the more they attack Civilized humans.

Common Sense in reply to Ragspierre. | December 4, 2015 at 12:02 pm

Lets not forget about the wife and how she arrived here!

Female shooter in San Bernardino, Calif., entered the U.S. on fiancee visa (K-1 visas) from Pakistan.

She also was “approved” by DHS! The same DHS who will “approve” Syrian refugees!
    What could go wrong?

To stop a rare event from occurring, one must stop all events. The Democrats want to disarm the citizens. Why do they fear the people? Do we ban all automobile traffic to prevent all car accidents?

To mitigate the damage from a rare event when it occurs, you prepare to contain it. The cost is then low and the impact is low. Arming the citizens is the only action that makes sense if the goal is to minimize harm. We have EMS for car accidents.

The Democrats are either delusional or dishonest. Those are not mutually exclusive characteristics. The voters (innocent and guilty) have the fruits of the Democrat politicians.

AND for global warming. Please, I know you mean well, TX, but don’t give them ideas… 🙂

The Democrats want to disarm the citizens. Why do they fear the people?

It’s not so much ‘disarming’ them, as it is a form of lashing out in hopes of laying punishment on those lawful citizens who disagree with them.

Such leftists who are armed, or who (like Hillary and Obama) habitually travel in company of armed guards, take security in the belief they’re part of the morally superior elite, and will receive waivers nullifying their own disarmament.

The liberal media and the liberals in government still want us to believe that this has nothing to do with radical Islam but about guns, a discruntled employee and who knows a YouTube video?

Barack Obama was actually shilling for his gun confiscation agenda WHILE THE ATTACKS WERE ONGOING. What a delusional maroon. I wonder if the people who voted for him are embarrassed yet.

    nomadic100 in reply to Paul. | December 3, 2015 at 10:53 pm

Disagree. Obama is not stupid (but not a genius either) and is most certainly not delusional. He is, rather, evil and malevolent. He intends as much destruction to this country as he can manage in his remaining time in office and even after that by his judicial appointments. Moreover, the man is a closeted Muslim – and not one of the mythical “moderate” variety. If he were to out himself as a Muslim, how would his behavior be any different?

“I’m so glad that ramblin’ man Obama addressed the Jihadi climate change issue at COPOUT21.”

-still bitter with guns and Bible.

Don’t fool yourself that gun ownership is enough. It’s not enough to carry. You need to spend time at the range, time with snap caps and also planning cover egress for any open area in public.

You need to know how far out you are accurate, especially against someone with a long gun.

You need to be half way decent with your non-dominant hand in case your primary is injured.

Is San Bernardino attack Paris II?

No. It’s the prelude to a more massive attack. San Bernardino was one attack by one group on one target. Multiple attacks on multiple targets by multiple groups will follow. There are only two questions remaining, simple ones. Where? When?

It seems likely the intent was to hit the party and then another soft target. The terrorists didn’t realize the multi-jurisdiction police active-shooter training was going on half a mile down the road. When the call went out, the area was locked down much faster than would normally be possible.

Police allowed some rumor calls onto the scanner, or perhaps they were actually investigating another SUV, which may have made the terrorists believe they might escape the cordon.

”They came prepared to do what they did, as if they were on a mission,” San Bernardino Police Chief Jarrod Burguan said.

Yes, they did didn’t they? Yet when they left rather than getting the hell out of the area, they stayed around until the LEO’s arrived and then drove as if they really didn’t give a damn about getting away. Their actions may just be the dumb mistakes made by rank amateurs, but they could also be the actions of someone willing to suicide to create a diversion. If I were living anywhere in the greater LA basin I’d be more than a bit concerned for the next several days. What was going on elsewhere while everyone was focused on San Berdoo?

This would be a new tactic for the terrorists, but it is a tactic used by military forces around the world since forever. There is one thing that is certain: this was not “simple workplace violence”.

Their tactics were dumb, so dumb I was doubtful it could be a terrorist.

God help us when talented ones hit us again.

Guess what Andy you are dead WRONG!

Tashfeen Malik pledged allegiance to the leader of ISIS just before she and her husband carried out the San Bernardino massacre, law enforcement sources told NBC News.

Could be cover for the movement of arms and personnel elsewhere. Not surprising this occurred in a may-issue state. Most of the major urban counties in CA won’t issue carry permits to the non-connected. I’d expect further attacks in such counties, along with other no-issue places like NYC, NJ, and HI. Liberals crave such attacks so they can ramp up the gun-control rhetoric to ever dizzying heights while printing bullshit headlines like “searching for the shooter’s motivation” as if it weren’t obvious.

Insufficiently Sensitive in reply to Walker Evans. | December 3, 2015 at 7:01 pm

they stayed around until the LEO’s arrived and then drove as if they really didn’t give a damn about getting away.

Perhaps they wished the joy of seeing (and filming with their GoPros) the demolishment of the first responders via their radio-controlled IEDs

What was interesting to me yesterday was how long it took before anyone mentioned the words “Islamic terrorism”. All of the spokesmen, most of the media people, were seriously going out of their way to avoid the issue. The first indication I had that there was a serious chance at it being Islamic terrorism was when CAIR had a relative of the perps (I think their brother-in-law, married to the female perp’s sister) speak – long before we even knew who the perps were. In other words, CAIR knew who they were long before the public did, thanks to the suppression of this information by both the authorities and much of the media. I think that it was a couple hours after that, that the authorities finally released their names. And, even then, the police chief speaking wouldn’t really address the terrorism issue.

The reason that I find it humorous is that the media inevitably talks about how this or that mass shooting was done by some right wing stooge (except, of course, the perps are almost always leftists/Democrats). We had that last week with the bearded guy who apparently killed maybe 4 people in or around PP in C. Springs. He was obviously a right wing nut job, esp. based on the supposed admission by him by some unnamed LEO who quoted him mentioned body parts. Of course, he is probably nothing of the sort – just wacko. But, yesterday, no opining about what sort of right wing nut jobs committed the shootings. Rather, just a studied silence. And, the only reasons that I could see for this is if they already knew that the perps were from some privileged/protected class – most likely Muslim, but possibly Black.

“IED factory”? I’m willing to bet damn near anyone has sufficient supplies to do that in their own home right now. Especially “conservatives” and Republicans.

Fact is, anyone with a modicum of STEM knowledge can make a bomb.

I just love watching the complete lack of self awareness as the left keeps shifting it narrative as each previous narrative gets disproved. Sometimes I forget that they have no shame.

This attack in San Bernardino could be the first of such sleeper attacks in this country. My guess is that ISIS is doing whatever it can to encourage other such attacks, even providing money to any Muslim who is willing to carry out one. The purpose of these attacks seems to be to drive a wedge between Muslims in country and American “infidels,” with a greater purpose of causing us “infidels” to take action against those peaceful Muslims.

The recent attacks in France seem to show a pattern of how the jihadis might like to proceed in the USA; one attack, another one, even a bigger one, and whamo, Muslims in the USA won’t be trusted; except we might just trust them to try to kill US.

Our backlash probably is ISIS’s big goal, more proof that we can’t be trusted, that we have to be destroyed, etc… ISIS goal, most likely, is that the American backlash in turn will cause Muslims throughout the Middle East to rise up and join the ISIS cause.

ISIS doesn’t have to plan any of these attacks. It has to encourage young Muslim minds full of mush to join the jihadi trail, get local mosques to preach jihad, maybe setup a training curriculum, including how to operate semi-auto rifles and handguns, how to prepare simple IEDs, etc … And, ISIS also will funnel money to these young mushheads so that they might be properly equipped to do damage to American Infidels.

Don’t know if this is ISIS’s plan yet it seems that this might be it’s kind of loosely defined strategy.

randian in reply to Doug Wright. | December 3, 2015 at 11:56 pm

“Our backlash probably is ISIS’s big goal, more proof that we can’t be trusted, that we have to be destroyed”

It is quite amazing how Muslims can murder dozens of people and claim themselves to be victims when we take action against them. It’s like somebody who murders their parents and then petitions the court for leniency as they are now orphaned.

Agreed. Yet, what is even more amazing is that our society allows Muslims, and other such aggrieved souls, to get away with that false narrative, often shacking society’s “collective” head in agreement!

Now is a damned good time to stop that idiotic nonsense!

OBTW: Carry’em if you’ve got’em; legally that is (Perhaps or not, not asking, not telling?).

It is a mistake to view this as a vast (half vast?) global conspiracy. It is more like an inspiration; a movement. That makes it more dangerous, because there are no hard links to follow.

In listening to the radio and TV, I heard an unbelievable number of reporters claim these terrorists has set up an IUD factory in their home. Either this is horrific reporting or Planned Parenthood should become involved.
